  1. “The Russian blueliner stressed his main goal is to contribute effectively and ‘not be the weak link’ on the roster.“

Lol, Orlov didn’t waste any time beating his mantra into Nikishin…. That definitely got passed on during the ECF series when Orlov was having his careless mistakes on clears and outlet passes.

  2. I continue to be impressed by his maturity.

He doesn’t come off as a hot-shot rookie who thinks he has already earned a starring role. In this and the other interviews I’ve seen he’s very open about what he needs to work on to be better.

Even his self-critique of not trying to learn English sooner is an impressive sign of maturity – admitting a mistake and working to fix it.

  3. I mean I don’t think any player is going to come out the gate and say they want to suck their first full NHL season haha, especially as a pending RFA. That said we’ve all been excited for him to make his appearance on the Hurricanes and I’m curious to see how the defense will shake out.

  4. Outside of his first couple of shifts, he didn’t look like a “weak link” in the playoffs at all.

  5. I love humble he seems to be. Itd be really easy for him to have a huge ego after Captaining SKA and thinking hes hot shit, but he seems really down to earth and I love that.

  6. Sasha is the dude. I adore a solid defenseman and the way he played in the playoffs inspires confidence he’ll keep growing.
