Obviously, the breaking news that happened today, Miami Dolphins are going to sign Matthew Jude onto a one-year deal. It is rumored to be up to $6 million. That’s the rumor. We don’t know. Hasn’t been he hasn’t officially signed. Um, big fat question mark for me. You know, I’m not upset with bringing in Matthew Judon, but does he play corner? That’s the biggest question to me. Offensive tackle. Yeah. Right. So, uh, we’ll start with TD. We’ll go the reverse way. TD, what’s your thoughts on the Judon signing? Are you as perplexed as we all are? Kind of. Oh, not at all. I don’t even understand why y’all got any issues. Um, I’m loving every bit of this move. I think that this is very exciting for the Miami Dolphins. Um, we got three weeks before the week one kickoff. So, can y’all stop panicking? Um, Allan, Omar, Doug, can y’all please stop panicking like Chris Greer don’t cook at this time of year? All he’s doing is adding his depth to make sure that if Jaylen or Chub have a relapse or something happen, he still got some firepower. But they fighting for their job, man. They fighting for their job. They know the importance of this season. So, I still feel I actually am encouraged by this move because although it wasn’t a quarterback, which we really need, it was not a backup offensive lineman, which we really need, but it’s still a position that you cannot feel like you’re just automatically solidified due to injury history. So, nice addition, Chris Greer. Now, up to 6 million now. Hey, I ain’t gonna question him. It is what it is. Um, but there going to go first. Where am I going? I’d like to go first. I would like to go first. While while I do hear his point that this is the season that Chris Greer cooks. No NFL executive has made more trades during his tenure since 2016 than Chris Greer. And I will say this, um, I don’t really know if I can recall a trade that he has lost. Now, there have been some bad trades, but not a trade that he has lost. But, uh, I honestly think pass rusher edge was the deepest position on the team. Yeah, it it was it is 100%. Probably going to be four that are cut that could potentially get claimed. Um, however, Jaylen Phillips and his expiring contract just sits there like a big fat apple in the mouth of of of of a of a a pig. And I have to believe one, you know, of Jaylen Balls, he’s going to be pushing for a hundred million dollar contract. Mhm. Do now does this team have the history of paying people that they develop a hund00 million contract? My argument to that is no. I think that if you’re and the only mistake but go ahead. Go ahead. [Music] This is your fault. You did it. You did it this time. 200 million. I’m sorry. Let me see. You’re wrong because it was a $200 million contract. Um I happen to believe because Chris Greer will trade his mama. Yeah. Um I I I happen to believe that they’re if they’re they made this move, they got somebody on the on the on the trade block and it would be Jaylen Phillips. Now I’ll get to you Allan just real quick. Just real quick. Would somebody trade for him though? He He’s still banged up a little bit. Last year of his contract injury history banged up a little bit, but they’ve really just sat him for a couple days maybe to um just make sure that everything’s all right, you know. All right, Allan. Okay, here here’s the thing. And Omar, you like four players are going to get claimed. If you pick up Matthew Judon, is that not some sort of a statement that everybody needs to maybe chill a little bit on the young edge rushers who are kind of unproven when it comes to NFL regular season? Derek Mlendon, Grayson Murphy. I mean, they’ve all great in training camp practices. We out here we’re talking games against threes. What do you want them to do? What do you want them to do? I want them to get themselves established before we start talking about how just awesomely deep they are. No, that’s number one. Number two, here’s the reality check and I hope he can revert back to earlier form. Matthew Judon was not good last year. No, you’re not getting peaked New England Patriots. Matthew Judon. Okay. But I’m with you, Omar, that I think to me unless there’s another move a foot or there’s an injury concern, this move makes zero sense to me. Like adding a fourth a fourth guy like that who’s not going to play special teams either. going to have four edge defenders when none of them play play special teams. I mean, that’s we’re So, to me, it’s there’s something else. And and we spoke to Mike McDaniel on a Zoom media call and he said, “No, we’re just we’re just visiting with him and then we’ll see what it’ll lead to.” Well, let he said injuries are not the reason for bringing him in. Correct. Interesting. If they do trade that this is the only way that it would make sense to me is if they do trade Jaylen Phillips and grab a corner like whatever and however like you trade Jaylen Phillips in like a fourth and you get like a legit starting corner. Break my heart because Jaylen Phillips is one of my favorite players on the team right now. But uh that’s the only way it makes sense to me except here’s the other part of it too. I’m going to play again devil’s advocate and be the downer. Um he’s getting paid 133 million this year with a nasty injury history and he’s he’s unsigned after this year. What team is going to give you a ton for him right now? But but you’re going to get compensatory pick if you do get lose him. So you at the baseline you would take a third round pick at the basement. Anything else doesn’t make any sense. The team I’m talking about the team trading for him not I know. I know because he’s a very talented player. He’s an Adonist. He’s a physical freak. What? Here, I got a I got a have gotten unlucky. I got a potential for you because I’ve talked about it many times on this show. Uh traded to Kansas City. Kansas City has a plethora of corners. Could they use a pass rusher and Jaylen Phillips? They did lose a They lost their edge today. Correct. Put on IR. Oh, yeah. Pick a former first round pick. Felix hyphenated name. Sorry, you remember the name. Oh, maybe that’s a situation that happens. Why are we automatically thinking it’s Jaylen Phillips and not Bradley Chub contract seems Well, they’ve already restructured Chub. I mean, they got to eat most of that anyway. No, it cost you 13 million to trade him. Well, it’s going to cost Jayen Phillips. No, you clear 13 million. You cleared 13 million. The receiving team um eats the whole thing. Yes, on the fifth year option. guaranteed and it’s there’s no sign. Yeah. 1325. We trade him Phillips. And then if we trade Chub, which now he’s going to he’s going to block me even harder now for even saying that. Hey, the damage done. By the way, it’s Felix DK of the Chiefs. Uh, we only save 1.3 million if we trade Bradley Chub. So, it’s a $12 million difference between the two. I It could be Chub. I mean, somebody’s offering you a first round pick for Chub because they ain’t offering no first round pick. I don’t disagree with you, but you know, people people have hyped him up a lot. I’m I’m not one of those people, but people have hyped him up a lot. Doug Doug, the Dolphins, if they trade Bradley Chub, would still carry an 11 million cap hit for him. They instead of 12.3. Would that be spread over the next two or flat out? Sorry. Would that be spread over the next two years or flat out this year? Uh, now because can’t you don’t you um use that in the two years after you you divide it? Not sure. With Jaylen Phillips is 13 133 all of it all of it gone. Cap hit would then be 11 million next year. No, 20 million next year. But if he does pull off a move like this and bring in a a nice backup tackle or a nice corner, is that not a win? I don’t know. I I It depends on who the player is, what the contract is, how how does he fix your problems. Um, I I would I would hate to lose Jaylen Phillips, but I know if he plays a healthy season, they’re not gonna pay him. Yeah, because if he doesn’t play well, it’s like uh like But if but you expect him to play well, he’s gonna cost. Yeah, he’s Yeah, he’s gonna cost. Um, he stays healthy, huh? If he stays healthy, if he stays healthy. Yes. If he doesn’t stay healthy, you can give him Austin Jackson deal. Nah. No, not a chance. You still think more than that if he doesn’t stay healthy or less? Uh, pass rushes. Pass rushes make good money. I I it it really depends what what injury are we talking about. Hey, you might be able to give him a Nick Needam deal if you if if if he suffers a bad injury like somebody thinking flyer. Yeah. But but in fairness to them, can you ever have more more than enough pass rushers? Remember what Mike McDaniel said? He said, “I would draft a edge every year in the first round of the draft if I had a team.” A lot of stuff that don’t make no sense. So he’s Tyreek now. He’s Tyreek. Oh, wow. Wow. You want that? No, I’m just saying you can’t listen to nothing they they say. I’m just trying to But you also can’t have just nothing but edge rushers who only play defense. You need special teams guys. That’s true. That’s a very good point. Um because for me, I was straining the roster to make Derrick McClendon fit because I like Derek McClennon. Now you got to dig in. But now and I and I cut camera good and I have to put Cameron Good back on. Wow. Yeah, I did cut camera. That was that was not good. Um, now because Cameron Good’s core special teams now, do I have to take Cameron Good over um what’s the pass rusher? What’s the other guy’s name? Murphy. Quinn Bell. So now we we got some more complicated decisions to make. We already know Muhammad Kamar probably going on IR for some mystery ailment. Um, dude, he’s got a concussion. That’s his mystery ailment. Another Miami Dolphin offensive lineman that we brought in less than a week ago is gone. What is going on with these offensive linemen? Yod Yadani Kaji Yodi Yodi Kaji Kaj on IR we bring in Mason Brooks from the UFFL. So the week two weeks before it was a Fetti announced Kaji is is Mason Brooks G it’s if if you’ve ever seen Spinal Tap it’s like the Spinal Tap drummers. Is is Mason Brooks gonna make it out of the next week? Like what is going on? Mason Brooks got into the NFL in 2023 as a rookie free agent. He has yet to play an NFL game. He’s just bounced between three different teams. He was in the in the UFFL this spring. Is this just a body for train for essentially the preseason game and training camp? Don’t say that. Don’t say that. Um I I I know his agent and he and his agent is when it comes to finding offensive linemen. Okay. So, um, why why wasn’t he signed until now? And why has he never played in in a regular season game? It doesn’t it doesn’t matter. It we’ll we’ll see. I don’t I don’t judge people based on their body work. I judge them based on what they look like on the field. So, we’ll we’ll see. I mean, you act like they can do any better right now. That’s here’s the thing. Correct. Is right now with with Andrew Meyer injured in sideline with Lee Mikeberg still on pop. If Mason Brookke comes in and flashes very quickly, who the hell knows? Maybe he steals a roster practice squad. Maybe it’s a developmental guy. I mean, and I’ve been saying this since we began training camp, the the backup offensive line is trash. There’s no other way to even put it. Um, if you’re not, if you’re Chris Greer and you you got to go out and you got to trade for somebody and you got to comb the waiver wire because and you got to sign a veteran because this is not going to do. This is just not going to do. It’s not. No. No. So many people have so such an obsession about quarterback and there might be guys who can like play in the NFL over there like these backups and you know you gonna need eight. You know you gonna need eight. So, where are the three that you need other than your starters? They are not here. They are nobody available though. I know, but people are going to be cut in uh um the 26th. Yeah. What’s the reason people are gonna be traded this week right now? Yep. Yeah. I’m relying on the trade. I think Omar, you were saying on Twitter, this is the time of the year where these veterans like Matthew Judon sign because they don’t want to be in training camp. They’re like, I got two weeks to get ready for the season. Is going to play. He’s gonna sign. He’s gonna sign soon. Yeah. So, um Isaiah Win, remember that guy? I’ve heard of him. He played tackle. Will he be better than anybody else on this roster or the back? Yeah, but you were there at the Chris Creer pre-draft press conference where he basically kind of suggested that ship has sailed. Okay. And he also signed a 33y old pass rusher today. Did he say he had the right to test free agency? Because if he did, then that means that man ain’t coming back. No. Yeah. Yeah, he but he he made he made a comment where where the implication was like that yeah he’s gone and he’s not coming they they were going they’re going they’re going younger for their offensive line. They’re going to re rebuild it. But do you like the rebuild? Does it does it does it satisfy you? Is it sexy? Is it good? Not quite. You you tell us, Omar. This is this has been when Chris Greer’s tenure is all said and done. His offensive line failures are going to be his demise 100%. Yep. It it it is it is going to haunt him. His offensive line su Yeah. Yeah. Sitting right Jamar Chase. Jamar Chase. You’re the one talking offensive line. You’re the one obsessed with the offense. I know that. and was a very good player, but I would have never moved from three and got Jamar Chase. Why would you not get the player who you know is going to be the best receiver in the league in five years? Why would you not get the foundational piece for an offensive line for I don’t want Jake Long. I’m taking I’m taking Chase. I’m taking I want Jamar Chase. That was the biggest dodo move ever in the history of the It was what? It was three to 12 back to six, I think it was. Correct. Why you could have got he did it because he could. I felt I felt like Chris Greer did that because he was like, I’m going to do it just cuz I can. And watch how everyone’s like, wow, look what he just did. He had he had allegedly the same grade for Jaylen. Similar grade for Jaylen Wadd with Jamar Chase. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I like Jaylen Wadd. That’s dumb. That’s dumb. That’s dumb dumb dumb. Uh before we get to the donations, let’s really quick talk about what happened Saturday. The Miami Dolphins beat the Detroit Lions. Uh no starters. We got to see uh Zach Wilson, Quinn Eers. Um I’ll give my thoughts real quick. You know, we kind of already you probably we’ve talked about it nauseium because it’s been two days since the game. Uh I’m not happy with Zach Wilson. Again, it’s preseason. You could say, “Hey, he got us down the field for a touchdown. If it wasn’t for a face mask, we would have had a turnover on fourth down because of him taking unwarranted sacks again. He’s still throwing off his back foot and making and missing short passes. Quinn Yurs on the other hand, I know he faced the second half, which is not even backups. He looked good. And I’m talking about like when I talk about him looking good, it’s not about who he faced, it’s about what he did with who he faced. And he looked good. I like the ball placement. I like the throwing. I like the way he, you know, his anticipation stuff. That’s something that Zach Wilson doesn’t have. And you’re not going to go where I think you’re going to go. Are you, Doug? Well, I I would like it. I would like it and I said it on Twitter and I would like it, but it’s not going to happen. It’s like because they they don’t happen. I want it to start a rookie who’s never seen an NFL regular season defense. I’ll say this vanilla. I said this in a video that I made I think yesterday or whenever and this is what I would do now. It’s not going to happen because they paid him six million because and that they did it cuz they did it. There’s a certain quarterback on a team right now who is the third string and is probably going to get released and I would love for have him as a backup quarterback. That’s Jameus Winston. You think Jameus Winston’s going to want nothing to do with Jameus Winston? And again, they’re not going to get rid of Zack Wilson. So this is all just a fever dream. I’m having. But I bring in Jameus Winston. That’s a way better backup than they sign Jameus Winston outright for half of what they gave Zack. And that’s the point that you’re not hitting the nail on the head. Why don’t you just do that from the beginning and No, no, no, no, no, no. This is who they wanted to invest in and develop. The point I will continue to make, and this is not the first time you guys have heard it from me. 723 times. Go ahead. Y’all y’all y’all see him starting with me? Um, if you’re even if a veteran is even with a rookie, you go with the rookie. There’s nothing that Zach Wilson has done that’s better than Quinn yours ever. He has played in an NFL regular season game which Quinn yours hasn’t. And the first time they threw all sorts of junk at him as opposed to the vanilla crap he saw on Saturday. Let me see it. Zach Wilson clams up when they throw all kinds of junk at him. Omar, let me see it. I am gonna go with the quarterback who has the most wins against Josh Allen on this roster. That’s true. No, it’s not. It’s Zach Wilson. Zach Wilson has the most wins versus Josh Allen on his roster. two. Damn. [Music] So, I’m gonna go. Okay. I think here’s what I think people mistake about a backup quarterback. And they have the the wins you expect wrong. I expect the backup quarterback if if the starter goes out five games, win me two of those. Yeah, exactly. Because if you if you’re asking him to win three out of five, then he’s a starter in the NFL. Yep. I agree. Like you half of the NFL doesn’t win three out of five. I mean the starters, this is the truth because three out of five is 10 wins in a season. All you need your backup to do is win two out of five games so you can sustain and still have a chance when the starter comes out. Any starter that miss more than five games, then you a lot of teams are screwed for the season. Yeah. At the end of the day. Um, so Zach Wilson, I feel like he could still help you win two out of five with a good run game, good defense, and don’t blow it. I think he can do But I’m telling you right now, Quinn Yurs is doing the exact same thing and might be doing it better. Oh, we got to see that against a better competition. You with less weapons. My point is against worse competition. Okay. Yes. But my point work with a worse offensive line. My point is flip their roles and see what happens. Flip their roles. Does Zach Wilson elevate that third team? Does Quinn Yurs elevate that second team? Well, that that’s my problem with this regime, this organization, this head coach. There’s never any competition. Like we we’ll go into this week. You know it. Pupard Jaylen Wright and his 1.5 yards per carry average is going to be right in there with the starters replacing Devon Achan and Ali Gordon is going to get some second team action even though you probably should take a look at what Oi could do with against the starters. But you know Mike McDaniel don’t want to hurt nobody feelings around here. Yeah, we got to stop that miss. Like oh no no no we can’t hurt your feelings. Like I’m sorry. only person you ever wanted to hurt who he hurt feelings was um what’s the running back like maybe Durham Smite that’s it like you like we got to stop all this this soft mentality I’m sorry Jaylen you’ve been you’ve been sucking let me see what Ali can you know your your starting plays here’s your opportunity let me see how you perform when I give it to you see I agree with you there. I don’t agree with you at quarterback because again at quarterback experience is very important and unless Quinners blows away Zack Wilson in all the practices and the preseason game which he has not come close to done. Not not yet. But what who would you say has had better practices, Zack Quinn or Zack? No, it’s been about even. If it’s even, give it to the rookie. Yeah. Well, this is where this is where Mike McDaniel needs to evaluate that properly and give both of those guys a shake with the ones because this is what I don’t like. We got to stop comparing them. But but here’s what I don’t like. You got to stop comparing them against the twos and the threes when if you’re called to play, you’re going against ones. Yeah. So, I don’t get this twos and three comparison. I don’t care how you do against the twos and threes. How do you play when the competition is at its greatest? I need to know that I’m picking the right guy that we’re calling on. So that’s why I don’t care if it’s an extra drive at the end of practice just to say, “Quinn, get in here with the ones. Zack, get in here with the ones.” Get you have to find that out. I don’t disagree with you. And the the thing about Quinn is he makes bold throws. He doesn’t throw elementary level passes. And this is a guy who barely knows the off barely knows the offense. No, not true. Not true. No, I disagree with you. I don’t care that he played it at Texas. But I I I I don’t care that he played in a similar offense at Texas. These throws that he’s making, and yes, he’s developed chemistry with Tanner Connor and and Theo Whis. That’s great and well and good, but he makes bold throws. You see it constantly. Constantly. I mean other he had a really nice touchdown pass to Theo Weise the first one outside of that I mean wellan are really really like let’s be let’s be fair to Quinners let’s be fair being that he’s playing with the third team right this kid is finding the read and throwing the ball well it’s just being with the third team there’s no separation there’s a lot of pass breakups but the ball is getting to its target in these games with the low completion percentage. Go back and look at all the incompletes. He’s firing the ball over the middle, pass breakups, but there’s no separation either playing with those number three receivers either. There’s not as much separation. Apply the same standard to Zach Wilson also. Well, yeah. No, no, and I get it. But at least how I judge quarterbacks, even if you fail at something, how did you execute in the process? And he’s still executing even if the play doesn’t go well. Um, I I like Quinn’s operation. I just think that I thought I saw Dan Marino on long Saturday, man. I’m just saying it ain’t Dan Marino, but it it it’s at the same level where Tua was making like quick good decisions as a rookie. If it it’s very similar. I’m sorry. I’m I’m ready to ride and invest in that because Zach Wilson Zach Wilson is not going anywhere. The investment in him, you’re not resigning him. It doesn’t matter. Um, unless he comes out and balls this, you’re not resigning him. No. Invest in a guy who’s under contract for four years now. They’re not going to do it. But that’s what you should do it because it’s also if they do that, if they turn to you very quickly, and this is I say that as somebody who says, “Give me the experienced quarterback in a regular season setting.” If the Dolphins do that, it’s also an indictment on their decision to go after Zach Wilson. and and they were Mike McDaniel was very clear about that was the guy I wanted. That’s the guy I targeted. I target. Yeah. And that’s and that’s where I’m back to the it was a mistake. But hopefully we don’t have that problem. Like that’s that’s where you know that’s where I’m originally coming from where and I understand but I I don’t live in delusion and that’s why Yes. 100% 100%. Cuz what TD said is actually literally what I said in one of my videos where I was like with two like last year he missed like what six or seven games. You have to have a backup quarterback that will win you at least three. At least three. And with Zach Wilson I don’t think we win three. Like you look at the Green Bay Packers last year, Will Leves comes in, they win games. You look at the Steelers, they’re winning games. Like you look at all of these teams that the backups come in, they are still winning. Us on the other hand, Skyler came in games. Wholy won you games. It also depends on you went two. And it depends on the opponent. Yes. Look, it depends on the opponent. Another problem the Dolphins have had, which I’ve mentioned before is two has missed 10 starts under Mike McDaniel. In five of those 10 starts, there was an injury to the backup who started the next game. Yeah. So, I mean, that’s like the backups get hurt. Like TDB, that was his problem. He started two games and he didn’t didn’t finish either one of them. Last year, Snoop didn’t finish the indie game. I mean, uh, uh, Skyler didn’t Skyler didn’t finish the Seattle game and then there was another one. It’s a problem. Yeah, it is a problem. Yeah, the league’s going to back off of that. Um, is he is he somebody that you would look at him and automatically because he won a Super Bowl title, boom, Dolphins are winners. He’s a wellestablished coach. You what? You you haven’t had that around here. How long When’s the last time you had that over around here? He won a Super Bowl with with a loaded roster that he took over and then it didn’t end very well for him. The Raiders be beyond the issue that he had. Didn’t he take the Raiders to the Super Bowl, too? Yeah. They go. Yes, he did. He took him to the Super Bowl. I’m all I’m saying is, okay, there there like two guys out there that have resumes that are stellar and accomplished and I think that’s the way we’re trying to go. Mike Mlin, hold on. Mike Tomlin, no. Gil Bichc and then John Gutten. No, you don’t want Bill. Please, please. I don’t want Bich, but I do listen. I would monitor that Mike Tomlin situation. If they bomb out over there, that’s it for them. Yeah. Which is crazy to me, but that’s it. And I would I would do everything to bring my first round pick. Mhm. First round pick. I would I need my quarterback. Yeah. By the way, yours, you got him already, man. Quinn yours. Ah, listen. See some of these guys coming out. So, unless you wait till 2027, I get it. Yeah, I get it. That would be the cost and it makes sense. You’re probably going to go through a season of trying to get your books right and clear it out for them. So, I heard something recently that the top coaches are now making 13, 14, 15 million a year. Yeah. And to me, and that’s fiveyear fully guaranteed contract. To me, that’s crazy. But if Tomlin comes out and is available, he’s gonna you’re gonna have to trade for him because they’re not just gonna outright fire him. If Tomlin comes out and is available, man, that I I I can’t even put a dollar amount. You know, set the market, he probably gonna be 16, 17. Can I correct something very quickly? Gruden did not did not take the Raiders to the Super Bowl. He took he won with Tampa Bay immediately the year after leaving the Raiders and he beat the Raiders in the Super Bowl. Tony Dunie who took him to the Super Bowl then? I think it might have been Bill Callahan might have been the coach. Oh yeah, because wasn’t Ganon the the No, Ganon was the Bucks quarterback. No, Ganon was the Raiders quarterback. He was MVP in in 2002. Uh, black zombie mode with the tener said an offset chance for Allen and Omar uh with KC having a plethora of corners with the percentage we trade a late pick or two for some of those corners. This room currently is blind leading the blind. Go for the number six or number seven quarterback. Depends. I What you’ll end up trading for is a quarterback who’s who’s more expensive than he’s worth. And um I could wait claim the waiver. Yeah, I could wait for the waiver wire. Gary Williams with the Fiverr said, “Are you guys going to do any work with Terron Armstead? He has a good podcast as well.” I have been in talks with Ron and I’m gonna try to work with him. I don’t know if we are. It’s here’s the thing and I noticed a lot of people like, “Hey, you guys should have so and so on or you got it’s hard to interview people when there’s five of us.” Yeah. Like just imagine like an individual standpoint. Yeah. Like a one-on-one interview it works, but having the four of us and then one person, it’s very hard to like have a fluid conversation.
