Bryce Eldridge is starting to pick things up as we get into deep August, as he got a home run for the second game in a row…but also, avoided striking out for the third game in a row (which might be more important for him right now).  And half of the rest of the farm system got shutout again…but the postseason begins for the DSL, and both Giants affiliates were in action!

Pool Update:

  1. DSL Red Sox Blue – 1-0
  2. DSL Miami – 1-0
  3. DSL Giants Orange – 0-1
  4. DSL Marlins – 0-1

By losing game 1, the Orange team is in a bigtime hole.  To advance, they need to win both their remaining games, and the Red Sox Blue need to lose both of theirs.  Anything else, and the Giants Orange postseason will be over.

DSL Black: DSL Giants Black 9, DSL Rangers Red 5

  2. DSL Angels – 1-0
  3. DSL Rangers Red – 0-1
  4. DSL Athletics – 0-1

The Black team gets an easier road after a 9th inning rally led to a win.  There are many paths, although obviously winning out will be the easiest.  A bonus is that the Rangers Red team was the highest seed in the group, so it was the toughest win.

  1. If Eldridge finishes strong, it might be farewell to Dom Smith in the off-season. Worst case Schmitt spells Devers at first base one game out of three and plug in Koss at second and give Eldridge a month at Sacramento to start 2026.

  2. If Eldridge walks 5% more and strikes out 5% less, he’ll be ready to fight for a spot in Spring Training
