And the pirates are hitting like they can’t see
Just trade him to a contender why are they making him suffer
And we have a GM that could care less about winning and spending money on developing player talent to contend with the bigger teams. If it wasn’t for Paul we would be the constant negative headline for the mlb. Paul is keeping this team relevant on the national stage
As the article points out Skenes is averaging 5 2/3 an inning per start. Vida Bleu averaged 7 2/3.
Skenes has ONE complete game in his career.
Bleu had two 11 inning outings. And multiple complete games.
If Skenes is was tasked with pitching as many innings per outing as the historic pitchers he is compared to his ERA would be significantly higher and less historic.
Skenes is a great pitcher. But would he have as low a WHIP and OBAA and ERA if he pitched 10 complete games this year ?
If he averages 2 more full innings per start?
The answer is no.
Not a criticism of Skenes. More a tip of the hat to what pitchers in the past did.
Steven Carlton had 27 complete games in a season once averaging 8.5 innings. Insane.
We are comparing apples to oranges
