I said it in the GDT this doesn’t make any sense unless the team believes he has a career altering / ending injury.
He’s still pre-arb so he’d have plenty of time to return from a potential TJS. He was the best pitcher in the pen before he got the injury that almost always means TJS. I figured he’d end back up on the IL needing TJS at some point
Even right now, he’s not that much worse than Ort and in his last 2 appearances he pitched scoreless innings before being stretched 2 and failing both times at multiple inning relief.
Based on publicly available data this is possibly the single most nonsensical roster move any team has made this season. I’m sure there’s plenty we can’t see, but I…. Can’t see it

Just trying to be a voice of reason here for people deluding themselves about Dubin. Even before his injury, there was over a 2.5 difference between his ERA and FIP. His xFIP and xERA during that same time showed he was greatly over performing his expectations. Regression was due and we got it.
Not only that, the guy has been below average in the previous two seasons with not much to show in terms of promise.
I’m not sure why there is any fuss about this move Dubin will not be a good MLB pitcher.

Blubaugh was throwing 98-99 last MLB start. He could be a good reliever for us the remainder of the season. Not sure if that’s the plan though.
