  1. At this point in the season, with a 5 game bump, its not about winning games, it's about winning series – that's the luxury they earned. Hmm, numbers and contracts would suggest Varland or even Dominguez should get the push down south, not Fluharty – Shatkins again showing pride over winning, pushing other peoples draft picks over his own, the same guy he went all-in-on telling us he feels so comfortable with Fluharty … is now moved aside for Varland or Doms, for no reasons greater than Varland or Doms offer. I rather Fluharty (vs ANY side of the plate batter) then Varland or Doms in a "high leverage" (hate this new'ish common word everyone thinks they are geniuses when saying it – 18 months ago, nobody ever heard of it!) situation … he's been there before and proven himself.

  2. I was going into town Friday aft, listening to Fan590 and some cl0wn said that Lops was great at defense and I laughed, hard! ..his arm is noodled, he can barely get the ball into the infield from a normal OF position – Lops and that short arm would benefit playing 1st. Hey Ty Lance, you don't fit the Shatkins "must have" protocol, (need to play 2 positions)???

  3. Yes, we should make the postseason, but based on the past 30 or so games, I'm not very confident of getting out of the first round. We're living off of our 19-4 run from June 29th to July 26th, which spanned the All-Star break. Since then, we've played .500 ball (13-13). Looking at our remaining schedule, I don't see us playing above .500 ball. Realistically, I see us going 14-17, which would mean a 90-72 season that is probably only good enough for the Wild-Card. The only way we avoid that scenario is if Bieber and Scherzer play lights out to compensate for the disappointing performances by Bassitt, Gausman and Berrios. We'll also need to see Clement and Barger pick up their offensive game to support Springer, Guerrero, Bichette, Kirk, and Varsho. I expect our relief corps to be out-pitched in the majority of the close games we play in, which will be the main cause of our below .500 record the rest of the way.

  4. Since July 27, the Blue Jays have the worst bullpen ERA in all of baseball at 6.21, which is not exactly what you want from your theoretical World Series contender.

  5. This team will exit the first round. If they get a great match up, they may get to the 2nd round but that is all. This is NOT a WS contending team. Vladdy has zero clutch, John Schneider can not properly manage close games and the starters give up way to many home runs.

  6. Yeah we need to worry about the pen.

Last year was miserable, but it would have been a playoff team with a bullpen that could get things done at an average rate.

We're blinded by 2 scorching months of offense full of over production. Worst to first. We simply aren't the most potent offense in baseball and can't rely on 5+ every night.

Playoffs are going to feel more like the beginning of the year when we were at the Mets and Boston and there was no division cushion.

We aren't 4 games up without the April RP contributions and we won't make it 4 games in the playoffs without it either
