Is this true?

  1. Rockies was a weekday game against a bad opponent in a bad season. Completely believable. Not sure where they were looking though. Most things are north of the stadium.

  2. Yes. Cubs fans support their team, even when they aren’t good.

    Cardinal fans do not.

  3. Where was this dude walking? No idea what time of day it was from the post but there is literally a big open outdoor common area by sport and social around ballpark village

  4. I took my 5 yo for that series (we went monday and wednesday). I agree to an extent. Drive in from Birmingham was easy, staff was terrific, city was wonderful, and i was pleasantly surprised we never had much traffic, or trouble doing anything we wanted. Sure, a few more family friendly activities within walking distance of the stadium would be nice, but we both had a great time!

  5. Embarrassing if you ask me. Lifelong cards fan, but can’t defend the atmosphere around Busch – even during a good season. Stale, generic, PaddyOs is just vomit-inducing.

After living near Wrigley, Coors, and heck even the BoB (back then), we have nothing to offer. All ears if I’m overlooking something. I love that I can grab a walking beer at Four Hands – it’s a shining light in the darkness. But even there, service is limited and it’s rarely a “game day” feel. At least a few years ago the chain Flying Saucer was a block away. Now… where do yall go (with character of any sort, please)?

  6. There is tons to do right outside the stadium. Not sure what this person is going on about. Probably 10 or so restaurants, 4 or 5 bars, shopping, the museum, and a big outdoor open area to run around in literally across the street.

I do believe it was empty of fans though, as has been the case throughout the season. But as for stuff to do, just open your eyes bro.

  7. Even on a weekday against the worst team, BPV is going to be open. This commenter is either lying or blind.

  8. I say this as someone who chose the Cardinals after suffering through too many White Sox seasons, they aren’t totally wrong. Ballpark village is v nice, but walk a few blocks and it gets crumby looking. Definitely boarded up restaurants and, even more unsettling, boarded up parking garages. This is more about the disinvestment in downtown St. Louis but is a bummer to see. Either way, I always have a great time at the ballpark. I know this season hasn’t been great but I also am not turned off by a sparsely attended game (I suppose there is a white Sox joke in there somewhere)

  9. I work right around BPV. It’s quiet, especially on non-game days, but I’ve never felt unsafe. Plenty of bars and restaurants are always open because y’know… some people still work downtown.

  10. I was there. Ghost town is a stretch, but it was nothing like typical cards crowds for the last 20 years

  11. STL has politically decided to be a ghost town, after 7pm there is nothing to do, if you walking in the street you can be sure the police will come up to you and let you understand you’re not welcome.
After midnight, coming out of the club that is open 2 nights a week till 2am, the police will give you 5 minutes to get to your car and leave.

The thing is cities like memphis, Kansas city, and Nashville do to operate in such a way..

And it s a real shame.

(The above described situations concern the downtown area of STL..)
