  1. This offseason is going to be Bob Nutting's biggest test as an owner. Will he make the necessary changes? Can he hire the right staff this time? That is how I will judge Bob. Not by the money he spends, but by how he conducts this offseason.

  2. To me the question isn't whether Chandler should start or relieve. It's whether he should be called up at all. He's hasn't been pitching well for some time.

  3. DK- say what you want about T Pham but the guy plays with passion and HATES to lose. Hey may be a loose cannon but maybe this is the leader the Pirates need? #22 and #30 giving polite suggestions to management hasn't planned out.

  4. this is why Benny and Cheapo Bob think they're actually successful. They beat teams they have no business winning against, and then call up another all-star pitcher too little too late. Pitching doesn't win games, as we've seen all year

  5. Luv these DS's. Hard to feel good about or see the positive in anything with this team. Wish Chandler well and hope he escapes this Cluster F of a franchise sooner than Bednar. The Bucs are like talent vampires they drain it from these guys. Sorry I am just so down on this team.

  6. Looking at both games and PAs it was clear the Griffin promotion was all about getting him a look at AA. It was time. Many may argue it didn't come soon enough. As for Bubba, people complained he didn't start with the club, now they're complaining that he's up, despite playing like crap? He has to be protected in the Rule 5, and it's almost September. There's zero conspiracy here folks.

  7. Bringing Bubba Chandler up to the majors is indeed premature. However, the intent is neither to distract
attention from the team's woes, nor to prevent Bob Nutting from firing Ben Cherrington.. Rather, it is to
"showcase" Chandler as the future ace of the staff, making it easier to trade Paul Skenes during the off-
season, if not bundle them together in a blockbuster deal involving two or more teams, and as many as
a dozen players from several minor and major league rosters. Konor Griffin may or may not be part of
this scheme, as well. Likewise, his role as a decoy is consistent with this interpretation, though its aim
is not to deceive the press or the public, but as a move in the chess game between competing franchises,
which has been going on since 1869, if not earlier. As in professional sports, so on Wall Street, the best
trades are the ones you don't make. However, the temptation is hard to resist, not because an owner (or
a general manager) has something to prove, but because risk is its own reward, while buying and selling
athletes is a forbidden pleasure (and an expensive hobby) that still gives corporate slave owners a thrill.
