9 games? Fine. But he is undersized right now and deserves a better nhl start than limited minutes with our worst dman. This isn’t pee wee developmental. When he arrives in the nhl he should be our best dman, not a work in progress on a bad team looking up at scott mayfield after being cross checked in front of the net for a goal against.

I want this kid to succeed. Nothing good will come rushing him in, wasting a year of his elc and having his first season seeing limited mins on a .500 at best team

  1. It could be worse. You could put him with Brian Strait. Mayfield actually had a decent year with the advanced stats and giving him a kid who’s young will force him to play more conservative which could ultimately help his game. Schaefer should get third pairing minutes and 2nd PP time at best unless he proves he can handle a bigger workload. It’s a good problem to have.

  2. First of all, this post is dumb as fuck and barely worth humoring.

Second, despite being the fan bases punching bag, Mayfield is a very very solid defensive D-Man, amd about as good a bodygaurd as we currently have on the roater. He just has a knack for poorly timed penalties which makes his game seem worse, but check virtually any basic or advanced defensive metric and he’s well above league average.

Third, it makes absolutely no difference what you think, there’s a team of about two dozen coaches and execs who are watching his development every day and if they decide hes ready to play this year, hes ready to play this year.

Just relax, your foreman’s gonna be pissed if you work yourself up and have a heart attack on the job site tomorrow bud
