It isn't like anyone needed any confirmation that gambling ads are way out of hand and take away from the viewing experience of watching a game at home, but an ad every 13.5 seconds is ridiculous.

  1. What a terrible black eye on the NhL. Bettman and his cronies need to put an end to this. They are promoting one of the worst addictions all while saying they’re trying to attract a younger fan base. Disgusting.

  2. It’s a shame to not only to hockey but all sports with how much they advertise this BS. Just makes you wonder if games are really “faked” for views/popularity or just “faked” for the casinos? wouldn’t be mad if it came to an end

  3. “Social Engineering” at it’s Finest ! Trying to put the Idea into your head that it’s all ok, I’d Bet on it !

  4. It’s so normalised, when I was on a work trip & I told my colleagues (non hockey fans) I was going to a bar to watch game 4 of the SCF, their first question was “did I have any money on the game?” It’s as if that’s the only reason to be interested.

My responses, as an Oilers fan, was I’m already way to emotionally invested as it as it is, I definitely don’t need to add any more stress, or heartache 😭😂

  5. I simply do not watch hockey anymore because of this and all the other ads that they have PLASTERED all over the rink, boards, helmets, jeresys, net, etc etc Like how much fucking revenue do they really need? Lets ruin the viewing experience for everyone. Fuck the NHL.

  6. Half the reason I like the grey area sites is because they don’t blast you with ads that are higher volume than the game was

  7. The addiction with the highest suicide rate is not alcohol or drugs. It’s gambling.

  8. Everything you enjoy is now manipulated to be a way for rich people to extract more money out of you.

  9. “Hey Connor McDavid, can you sign my brother’s jersey? He was a big fan and after he took his own life because of gambling debt it would mean so much to our family.” Rinse and repeat with any and all athletes.

  10. As long as hockey fans keep throwing money away at gambling websites, you’re going to see gambling websites reminding them to gamble.

  11. They have to regulate this shit. Kids watch this game too. It’s immoral how often these ads get played. I agree with the other comments in this thread, they should be regulated like cigarette ads. Gambling can destroy lives.

  12. The prevalence of sports gambling just proves that humans are illogical.

The very fact that they have enough money for the ads in the first place should tell you that it’s not a wise use of your money
