  1. This is good news. Glad to see a team get a new arena or necessary upgrades to stay put. Never good when a team relocates!! The Sharks are staying!!

  2. Wasn’t even aware SAP was the oldest arena in NHL. The ideal thing now with this money grant that they’ll be receiving it would be ideal to create a whole new arena

  3. So many memories going to the Shark Tank as a kid. The smaller size and low roof made the noise incredible. The concourse was always cramped though since both levels use the same concourse unlike newer arenas. I wonder if they are going to expand it.

  4. Here we go again, can I rant again. There is zero wrong with the SAP center. ZERO. San Jose can't hire more police, fix crime, fix schools or roads, but they can spend 450 million for "upgrades" Let the sharks pay for it on their own da(* dime. Cities need to get out of the sports business. If they want to move so be it. UGH. These owners are worth billions. IF you can own a sports teams you can pay for your own da(* buildgs and upgrades.

  5. The facelift on the area will look great on post game interviews, the surrounding area needs more to do. Super happy to bring my young kids over the next decade and have them in awe of how cool it looks, I’ll just smile and say “should have seen it back in my day”

Going to a game is more than just seeing the team. It’s seeing SAP getting off the train, it’s walking up those steps, it’s doing a lap during intermission to see what new food and merch is up. I love the experience each time I go, this looks to make it better, very excited.

    Thanks Brodie!

P.S. bring back Patty’s! if you know, you know

  6. This is what it looks like when a city and an owner/ownership group are dedicated to do what's best for each other. It's a happy day! But a new arena should be the next thing. Only have around 25 years to get that plan going.

  7. WE DON’T NEED A FANCY ARENA. We need a place where we can cheer, support and watch a
game. NOT somewhere that’s trendy, expensive or luxurious. just a home where we can be loud for the Sharks. I hate that every new arena and stadium have all these BS amenities and conveniences that we DON’T need. A seat, a couple of decently seasoned tacos, and maybe a beer or two. Please please please tell the uplines to be smart about spending because as a fan, all i wanna do is cheer for my DAMN TEAM. IDC ABOUT ARENA COMMODITIES

  8. The Sharks 🦈 are assembling some major talent and if the cards fall into place they will be true Stanley Cup contenders for years to come. With the winning much needed money will flow into downtown San Jose💰😎👍

  9. Listening to politicians speak is like taking a new pair of white Hanes undies fresh from the package, putting them on and immediately sharting in them… however, this is great news for SJ & the Sharks

  10. This is an exciting partnership and I really appreciate how well it seems the city and team have worked together WITHOUT FIGHTING EACH OTHER like every other team and community do.

  11. As a jets fan I glad they agreed to keep the sharks in the city of SJ the sharks will be a dangerous team in the next decade also i love the sap center i think they should stay in that arena

  12. Make sense to renovate. Proposed BART station very very close by. I remembered when this stadium was being built in 1992. "I wonder what the renovation price would be in a market like Carolina Hurricanes."

  13. They really need to develop the area immediately surrounding the SAP center. I'm somewhat surprised that didn't happen in the past 30+ years. It's always been in a downtown adjacent, low-rise, parking lot area. It's right next to Diridon station, where you can take caltrain up the peninsula and will eventually get a BART extension.
