How do people get ranked in team shooters like overwatch. Like to me fighting games make sense, you beat people up 1 on 1 till you get to the top but i feel like your team influences your rank in overwatch no?

OW player here. Difference between being Grand Master and top 500 isn’t really a skill difference, just as much as someone can grind. Still impressive as he’s in the top 0.5%

So Luka’s top 500 in overwatch. LeBron’s top 100 in madden. Bronny won the summer league call of duty contest last year. We have straight gamers on the team lol
You guys have no idea how hard it is to get to top 500. I’ve been playing since overwatch 1 and I’m in low masters. Thought that was an achievement but this dude is doing it as a side hobby being at the top. I can’t even say “well if you are good at basketball, I bet you not good as me in overwatch”
Can players from ow verify this? This is cool.
I know this might sound insane but he plays Zarya (from what I saw in that 1 m0xy game) and her right-click has sorta the same trajectory as a ball being shot into the hoop and I reckon somehow his brain correlates that in game right-click with his real life basketball accuracy lol
