Ugh do we have to?
I’m letting myself get a little excited about Josh Baez. I just want a corner outfielder that can hit 25 home runs in a season. I don’t think I’m asking for too much 😁

Happy daysball
There might be 5 people there today. Who is taking off work or school for this hot garbage? Beautiful day outside so maybe lukewarm garbage.
Good news: Mikolas’ next two starts are at home, where he has been significantly better than on the road.
Bad news: Mikolas’ next two starts after that, against the Mariners and Brewers, would be on the road.
I really wish we were able to be a little more creative with how our rotation progresses, but we have a number of things working against us:
*We don’t have any other starters that look ready for the majors – our AAA staff is pretty thin.
*We can’t really do a bullpen game in place of Mikolas, since we basically have to have some combination of Leahy/Svanson/Graceffo ready to piggyback with Liberatore. Libby is completely gassed right now, and since the start of July seems to only be able to go about 60 pitches before we see both his velocity and command drop precipitously.
*Sonny Gray is such a routine oriented guy that we can’t flip flop his place in the rotation – I believe people have alluded to this being one of the reasons we don’t change up some of our rotation order, although I don’t know if that’s just speculation.
*(Even if we switched Gray with Mikolas – Sonny has the same split problem Mikolas does this year of being much better at home, it’s just not nearly as pronounced as Miles)
Anyway – I’ve been using the second half to get myself into a mode where I don’t get upset with how the team performs, but rather will try and focus on how individual players are doing/progressing with what we need.
Been very happy with how Burleson and Gorman have been hitting lately. Noot was looking a bit better for a little bit, but has had a brutal last week. I’m still one of those forever hopeful that Walker can show good pitch recognition/plate discipline for more than just a stretch of a couple of weeks – but I do not disagree that he’s still a LONG way off, and we need him to probably spend next year at AAA and then see if he can fix what ails him and be ready for his age 25 season.
Team doctors checking out Arenado’s shoulder to check his progress. Rehab assignment up next.
[Pirates](/r/Buccos) Due Up **(Top 1):**
1. Spencer Horwitz
2. Tommy Pham
3. Bryan Reynolds
Pozo’s avg has dropped a ton but still slugging .400 which is pretty cool
Genuinely curious as to what this off-season looks like
I think we may see a very different team take the field next year
Let’s not suck today for daysball
Let’s go Cardinals
Fuck Miles Mikolas. Go everybody else!
go birbs
Ope
goddammit mikolas 🤦♂️
Off to a great start…
Chip mentioned that Mikolas just passed Chris Carpenter for number of starts with the Cardinals. In those first 198 games for each of them, Mikolas has provided 10.6 WAR and Carpenter provided 27.6

Pham goes yard
Holy shit am I counting down the days until I never see this guy in a Cards uniform again.
Pirates own us haha
You don’t think Pham digs a little deeper when he’s playing the Cardinals?
Classic Mikolas, go to bat
Nice to see Miles is already pitching BP…
Mikolas is 12th in HR’s allowed for a reason.
If you promised to cut Mikolas before the next sell out, they could move 35,000 tickets for Labor Day by the end of this game.
Opposing players must wake up feeling amazing knowing that they get to face Mikolas.
“Fortunately, Masyn Winn was able to fill that hole.”
– Rick ‘Horny’ Horton
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Bottom 1):**
1. Lars Nootbaar
2. Iván Herrera
3. Alec Burleson
Honestly, fuck this team’s leadership
Really couldn’t ask for better weather for an early afternoon game
Mikolis is one of the worst re-signings in modern Cardinals history, and on a personal level I think he’s an insufferable prick. the only thing that I take any solace in is that he’s pitching the last innings he’ll ever pitch in the Major Leagues next month.
