Anton Khudobin went off on the current state of goaltending in the NHL. He said the save percentage numbers for many starters are just weak

  1. Yes sure every athlete at every position in every sport in every league is better now than 20 years ago,

    EXCEPT NHL GOALIES.

    Terrible take.

  2. Sticks are allowed to get better, while goalie gear is unchanged.

Save percentages will get worse. Bad take.

  3. I feel like more goals than ever the goalie has minimal chance on it or at least they are super random.

Either the goalie is screened and they go off some guy’s ass, or it is the fastest shot you have ever seen off a one-timer.

And the sheer randomness or dependencd on their own team’s defense basically makes the goalies mentally fragile, since they have so little control.
