  1. What I would like to know is,there has to be situations where players on the same team are almost identical in metrics that the strategy guys crunch. So when that happens, does the human element come into it then?? Or are managers just PR guys who spew cliches night after night (looking at you,Boone)

  2. So you have a problem that the movie is focused on Billie Beane cobbling a team together right? That didn’t happen? Fine there were stars who didn’t get mentioned much in the movie. I agree. But this isn’t mr baseball. It’s a two hour movie so they focused on a part of it.

However good individual players are I just have two questions. Billie Beane didn’t put the team together using this method? And second, in baseball, role players aren’t important? One of the stars is a starting pitcher and as important as that is he’s getting the ball once every 5 games at best. You don’t need a little more than that to go 103 – 59???? a lot of times it doesn’t matter how many stars you have, you need role players, to be that consistently good. Tell the Angels with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani that a couple stars is all you need. By the way I am a brewers fan. A team that has dominated the nl central for ten years since the Cubs won a World Series, and yes they have Yelich, but he’s getting old, he’s been hurt, and what makes the team so good is their coaching and they have the right role players that step up… so acting like all this behind the scenes stuff isn’t important is just fucking ridiculous. I guess you have a problem with what this movie chose to focus on because you are not in the movie with Tejada on the beach or whatever he thinks made them great… but that’s what they chose to focus on and that doesn’t mean it’s total bullshit.

  3. Yeah that team was stacked and it probably should be viewed as a disappointment that they didn't make a better showing in their post season appearances. Also Carlos Pena who supposedly was dragging the team down ended up being the quintessential "money ball" type player who hit for a ton of power, drew walks, and played good defense at a relatively bargain price.

  4. I live in the east Bay Area about 30 mins from the Coliseum. I saw this team up and close.
They had Hudson, Mulder, Zito, Eric Chavez and Miguel Tejada lol!!
    That’s why they won.
They had 3 absolute STUDS at the top of their rotation. That’s the “secret” lol.

  5. “Based On” and “An exact Replica Of” are NOT the same thing…. I find it very concerning that you don’t seem to know the difference….If they simply put the actual real life season on the big screen (edited for time constraints of course), very few people would go watch that, possibly only Oakland fans if any….It was BASED on events. Cinema goers need more than just exact copies.
