Per the story, he's appealing and appeal results should be known today. He was also fined (amount not listed) and I'm sure that's under appeal too.
As for getting off entirely? That's not happening. Will it be reduced from six games? I don't know.
Thoughts of others here — about right or too much, or not enough?
EDIT/ADD
I agree with what seems to be the great majority of commenters. Six games is fine, even if, unlike Robles, it was not intentionally at a person.
On Contreras' demeanor? I liked his fire last year and the offseason and such, but, it's wearing thinner now.
On his value? Leads team in RBIs and HRs and is basically tied for the lead in OPS. On that? It's a reflection of where the lineup is at that (yes, we're in an era of pitching, spin rates, etc.) that the Cards don't have anybody full-time with an OPS above .800.
That's why I not only don't think this team will be magically better in 2026, I am not tremendously holding my breath over 2027.

Love is fire, but the aftermath was too much. Usually, they knock off one game on appeal. That will probably happen here.
Should have gotten 10.
Fuckin childish temper tantrum. Good thing there were only 5 kids in attendance
Dumbest part of all this is that the strike was called correctly.
I would imagine it gets dropped to 5 games. I don’t have any reason to believe that but it just feels like it. It’s definitely an earned suspension though.
I think it’s about fair to be honest. The way they had to hold him back on top of the bat throw and then seal it with the bubblegum toss was super childish.
Although he wasn’t looking, he tossed his bat and hit a person in the face luckily, not too hard. I don’t think it was intentional, but it’s still a dangerous situation.
Hopefully, he learns from the situation and doesn’t repeat it
I don’t know about y’all but I’m kind of tired of Contreras not being able to control his temper and be professional. Doesn’t matter this season anymore really, but you can’t count on the dude to not blow up over something when it does matter. Can’t imagine getting into a playoff series and he gets butthurt about a pitch to the ankle and misses the rest of the playoffs after throwing something at a pitcher.
He blew his top. Should be suspended. I’d be comfortable with three games. Five or even upholding the six wouldn’t faze me though
When it happened, I was thinking 7 games, so just about right in my opinion. I doubt the appeal knocks anything off. He’s lucky Brown got hit by the bat and not the ump.
I thought it was Hi-Chew and not gum.
The part of this whole thing that bothered me the most was when he threw the bat, he saw it hit Brown. After seeing that, he didn’t react in the moment to apologize or even look concerned. He could have been too heated to process it, but it came off as very self-absorbed and immature.
He got off easy! Appealing is probably automatic but he should just take it and think about what he has done.
deserved. Hopefully he handles that better in the future.
I like Willie but did he throw a bat at the hitting coach? Wtf was that?
Robles just got 10 for bat and sunflower seeds
Get this guy off the team. I’m sick of his shenanigans.
What a shit signing.
Probably gets reduced to 3 with his appeal. Which is fine.
Im honestly flabbergasted that its only 6 games.
Do I think he probably deserves a suspension? yes, but this doesn’t happen if the Umpire doesn’t eject him.
You have to fuck up pretty badly to make me pro-umpire, but my guy was able to do it here. Six games doesn’t seem like that much considering he stood there menacingly with the bat and the bizarre tantrum that followed. If my guy has this much anger why hasn’t he taken it out on any one of the 19 pitchers that hit him this year.
Just a reminder that this team still isn’t that far out of the wild card and this dude put his fragility before the team.
Deserved. That reaction was a bit too much, and I love how fiery he can get.
Contreras seems like the type of guy that will get a gun charge after he’s done with baseball.
Hi chew makes a gum now?
