  1. What’re the best ways to compare their defensive performance? I’m a statistical moron.

  2. Can you compare Hayes as a pirate vs hayes with an organization that has a decent idea on how to develop hitters? We could’ve had a very good left side of the infield with these kinds of stats.

  3. The hate Triolo gets on here has always been nonsensical, he had a bad start to the year where he was getting shit BABIP luck and his hot play recently is more just reverting to the mean than him suddenly figuring it out with his bat.

Triolo is IKF 2.0, they’re both gold glove caliber super utility guys that are either a stopgap starting utility infielder on a mediocre/bad team or a versatile defensive bench piece on a good team. Hayes inability to play anything but 3B was my biggest issue with him here, had he been able to shift to SS without much of a decline in his defense I never would have wanted to trade him.

  4. Triolo has 667 career OPS. Even he can do that all of next year from the start that will be fine.
If he can be like 710 to 725?
That would be amazing for the team.
He could prove to be a valuable piece next year.

  5. Neither one is an everyday contributor on a contending team. Far above-average fielders, far below-average hitters. They are who they are and a few nice weeks by either doesn’t change that. This team needs better players than this, period.

  6. They’re both pretty much useless with the bat but add value through their strong defense. It made sense to move Hayes when you have Triolo sitting there at a fraction of the cost, especially while Hayes still had value to move for a prospect. Triolo isn’t the answer though. He’s a stopgap.

  7. JFC…Triolo and Hayes both suck. If we go into next year with Triolo on the mlb club, we’ve failed.
