Fireworks at Bush Stadium on Monday night in more ways than one. Hey, it’s JD from Lockton Cardinals. Let’s talk about the good fireworks first. Alec Berles with the two out solo blast to walk it off against the Pirates by a score of seven to six. Had four hits on the night. Fifth walk-off win for the Cardinals this season. But the fireworks everyone’s going to be talking about is what happened with Wilson Contrus in the seventh inning. He gets ejected by home plate umpire Derek Thomas gets called out on strikes is walking away. appears to say something and have a discussion with the homeplayed umpire and gets ejected. The homeplayed umpire apparently accused him of saying a certain phrase. Willie adamantly disagreed and said, “I did not say that.” And he goes ballistic, ends up spiking his helmet. He throws his bat, which hits hitting coach Brent Brown in the process. Collateral damage. Ends up throwing gum out onto the field. The whole barrel of it. It was just a chaotic scene. We’ll see what the league has to say about it. Bottom line though, Cardinals end up winning this game by a score of seven to six. A comeback victory. Good for them.
