Marlins vs. Mets Game Highlights (8/30/25) | MLB Highlights
Little pregame standoff. Shawn Maniah and Javier Senoha waiting to see who breaks first. Let’s see. It’s 408. The Mets are taking the field and Sean’s not moving. And Senoha breaks. Nice. And Shawn Maniah winner winner chicken dinner. Celebration. It’s the little things over the course of a year. David Peterson has been the Mets most consistent starter this year. He takes them out today. He has paced the staff. He’s been their most consistent performer and it’s wind day when he pitches at home. The Mets are 10 and three in his starts here. There’s a ground ball up the middle and a base hit. Nice start for the Marlins. Lead off knock for Xavier Edwards. Otto bounces one off the glove of Peterson. It trickles softly up toward Shortstop and everybody is safe. Boy, if Peterson doesn’t get leather on that, you mentioned he’s a ground ball machine. That was going to be a tailor made double play. Peterson with some traffic to deal with in the first inning as he faces Augustinine Ramirez. And Peterson gets a comebacker. This time he handles it. He’ll go to first with it to get the shore out on Ramirez as Edwards moves to third and Lopez to second. Well, Peterson has just been fantastic in first innings. Open 59 RA last year and this best in baseball. Runners at second and third, one out. And now the cleanup hitter, Eric Bberto Hernandez coming up. And Hernandez shoots it in the air to right field. This is deep. Sodto’s going back onto the warning track at the wall. He leaps. It’s off the top of the wall. One run is going to score. Stopping at third is Otto Lopez. That’s an RBI double for Ariberto Hernandez who just missed a three-run home run by a matter of inches. And so the Marlins have a one to nothing lead. And they have two more in scoring position. Second and third, one out. Eric Wagner the batter. That one cracked down the right field line. Sto on the move. That gets in and that’ll plate two. Wagaman gunning towards second base. He will get in there and he plates Otto from third and Bert from second. Wag attack with a two-run double and it’s a three spot for Miami in the top of the first. Three nothing Fish right away. Peterson off to an uncharacteristically poor start. There are two men going to the top of the first again. Three already in. And now Peterson sees Joey Weame. And there’s a line drive to left field right at Brandon NMO who overran it. That’s going to play a pair of runs. More sloppy defense by the Mets. That’s a two-run double. NMO started in on that ball and it stayed up and it’s 5 nothing Miami. So five in for the Marlins just as the Mets put up a five spot in the bottom of the first last night. A nightmare first inning that saw him throw 37 pitches. He had allowed three earned runs in his previous 46 first innings. He allowed five earned runs in the first inning today. Third hitter Edward Cabrera on the hill for the Marlins. Making his careerhigh in pushing start number 24 on the year. Francisco Lindor leads off. The Mets have always had success against Cabra. Made eight starts against New York. He is a 5.12 erra. And Lindor cracks one to deep right field toward the wall and it’s out of here. Ninth lead off home run of the season for Francisco Lindor, number 26 overall. And the Mets get one right back. It’s five to one. The offense has their hitting shoes on today. Only show Otani has wore lead off home runs in baseball this year. Otani has 11. And now Lor extends his Mets club record with his ninth. Marlins five, Mets one. Two out here in the last of the second. Mullins hitting 229, 16 homers, 55 RBI’s. And that’s smacked right at the shortstop. Lopez bobbles it. Picks it up. Lost it again. And Mullins is safe at first. Yeah, Mets catch a break like Miami did in that first inning when they simply put the ball in play. This one turns into an error for Lopez. There’s Lindor led off the first inning with a home run. There goes Mullins. The throw to second base by Ramirez. Bounces away and that’ll enable Batty to score. The Mets are gifted a run. It’ll be a stolen base for Mullins and then an error by Ramirez allowing Batty to score. Otendor is popped up sky high left side of the infield. Third baseman Norby underneath step into foul ground on the infield dirt. He peels back on to fair territory, but he does make the catch about hip high. So the bases are loaded, nobody out because Peterson is allowed backto-back walks after the double. Well, this is a watershed moment in this game for Peterson. Gave up the five runs in the first inning, but now the Marlins with a chance to reestablish a larger lead. Base is loaded, nobody out. And Jacob Marcy batting for the first time. The rookie went 0 for four yesterday. Ground ball right side, base hit. It’s through the hole. Scoring is Hernandez Wagaman is held up at third and the Marlins get a run. Another RBI for Marcy. 25 RBI’s. 6-2 Miami. And they are really threatening to blow this thing wide open now in the third. And if you’re Carlos Mendoza, how much farther can you go with David Peterson? And the line keeps moving now to Joey Weame. Punch to right center field softly. It’ll drop for a hit. One- run will score and they will hold up. Norby Wagaman scores. A throw to second base. 72 Miami. Three RBI’s for Joey Wemer. And that’s going to be the end of the day for David Peterson. So Peterson has been so good this year turns in a clunker on a Saturday afternoon and he’ll leave down seven to2. Chris Densky tries to come to the rescue. Has a ground ball to short a chance for two. Lindor to second. Mcneel to first in time double play as a run comes home to make it 8-2. Now Sodell at second base. 82 Marlins. Here’s Brandon NMO struck out his first time. Had a two home run night last night. NMO pops this one up into shallow left. The long one in from Marcy toward the line and it dropped beyond the reach of Lopez. The throw goes to third, not in time and that enables NMO to go to second base. Well, a great effort by Lopez who came out of nowhere to try to make a diving attempt but it landed. Now here’s Bentos first pitch. Now a fly ball out to right off the bat of Bentos back toward the wall and it’s out of here. Mark Vientos goes the other way for a threerun homer and the Mets are right back in it. Number 15 for Vientos. His eighth home run in the last 13 games. And the Mets win that home run. Set a new club record for home runs in the calendar month. Their 51st home run in the month of August. Mets are now figuring Cabrera out more and more. 85 Miami. And obviously this game far from over. two-way in this bottom of the fourth inning. Here’s Juan Sodto. He’s gone on base both times. And Sodto drives one to deep right field. Back goes Weame to the wall and it’s out of here. Juan Sodto with a home run. His second in two days, his 34th of the year. And now it’s 8 to6 Miami. 34 home runs, 82 RBI’s. 101 runs scored for Juan Sto before the end of August. The Mets have hit three home runs against Cabrera, who had given up only 12 home runs in his first 23 starts. Marlon starter Edward Cabrera, who lasted just four innings, gave up six runs, five earned on eight hits. Lake Bocker worked a hitless fifth, walked one, and now Gibson in the sixth. Ground ball up the middle. Could be two. X has got it. Flips it to Lopez through the first. Not in time. The Marlins do get the out at second on a really nifty play started by Edwards who flipped it beautifully to Lopez. So now Sodto comes to bat after homering his last time up. First pitch hit in the air to right field. Pretty deep. Back goes Wemer. It may go. It’s gone and we’re tied. Juan Sodto with his second home run of the game. A line drive home run number 35 for Sodto. And the Mets have come all the way back. They trailed five to nothing in the first, eight-2 in the third. It is now the Marlins eight and the Mets eight here in the sixth inning. And probably to date, here we are on August 30th, I would say the biggest and most dramatic of the home runs that Sodto has hit this year to tie it up in a day like this where the Mets were down early. But the game tying swing, such a big one for Sodto that had eluded him all season. That bullpen has thrown four hitless innings. And now Tyler Rogers will take over the pitching as we go to the seventh in an 88 game. But that does push Ramirez, the go-ahead man, into scoring position. One, two is bloop shallow into center field. That’s going to get down for a base hit. Ramirez is around third. Throw coming towards the plate. He put on the brakes at the very last second. Ramirez put on the brakes. And now the Marlins are runners at the corners with one out. And now it gets a little dicey here with Connor Norby. Tie game in the seventh. The Marlins have not scored since the third inning. Line drive right field. Sodto going back. He makes the catch in the backhand, but Ramirez will tag up and he will score. And the Marlins lead 9A on a sack fly. RBI for Conor Orby. Calvin Foch came on to get the final out in the six. Stays on in the seventh to face Jeff McNeel. Wanted the other way down the left field line toward the corner. Marcy over drops in fair. Kicks up off the sidewall and rolls behind Marcy out to the track. McNeel around second heading for third. Here comes the throw. McNeels in standing with a triple. And now the tying man is immediately in scoring position. And not only that, he’s at third base for Brett Batty. Ground ball to second. And McNeel’s got to stay at third. And now Marte is going to bat for Terms. Got him. Come on. He went around on the sweeper. And Marte is down on three pitches. And all of a sudden after the leadoff triple, there’s two out. And now it’s up to Cedric Mullins. Flying drive left field going back is Marcy. He’s got it. Marcy makes the catch on Mullins. Fcher gets out of the inning. They strand a base runner, believe it or not, in this game here in the seventh. Ed with Diaz on to pitch the top of the ninth, but the Mets down by a run. You don’t see him come in this circumstance too often. Tie games. Yes. But the Mets chasing this win here, hoping Diaz puts up a zero and they can score at least one in the ninth. In the air, left field. This is pretty deep. got a chance and it’s off the base of the wall. Extra bases for Augustine Ramirez to lead off the top of the ninth in a huge insurance run is in scoring position with nobody out. So Hicks works out the walk. Runners at first and second with one out. Connor Norby coming up. Augustine on the move. First pitch runs inside and Augustine takes third without a throw. Marlins looking for at least an insurance run here. One-1 that would lift it out to left center field. That’s going to get down in plate one. That might plate two. It’s rolling all the way to the wall. Hicks getting the runaround from third. He will score. He beats the throw. He scores from first base. And Connor Norby gives the fish some big time insurance. It’s a two-run double and it’s 118 Marlins the top of the ninth. Well, the Mets will be up against it in the bottom of the ninth. He’s ready. Look at the anger in his face. He’s ready. He doesn’t like hitters. No. So, the Mets down to their final out. Hayden Sanger up for the first time in the game. And Sanger lines a base hit and a left. And the Mets will get the tying run to bat. It’s been a day of comebacks for the Mets. They were down five runs before they came to bat. They were down 8-2. They came back to tie. Now they’re trying to do something they have not done all year long. They have not won a single game this year when they’ve trailed after eight innings. That would cut on and missed. Tyler Phillips gets the punch out and the Fish get a win. It was nerve-wracking. It was nauseating, but the Fish do prevail 11-8. And the Marlins have taken two of the first three in this

Mets pitching were not at there best today.
Im being generous with my words.
@$%&^?
The Marlins are always on the bad luck side, even though they win this game.
That sinker ball pitcher canβt get anybody out and the other guy we picked up at trade deadline is even worse. Okay, Diaz stunk as well. As did Petersen.A wasted offensive output by the woeful pitching staff. Plus shyte defense. This all spells to me an early post-season exit. Last yearβs magic a distant memory, alas.
I was at the game in person and it was a blast
That was bad the Mets lost with one out of worst team on the MLBβοΈπ©π΄ππΌ

Connor Norby is BACK
This was karma for the Mets. In Game 2 of this series, they had a 19-5 lead going into the 9th. As much as I can't stand seeing position players pitch especially today, I understand why the Marlins did it to save their bullpen although it should still be a pitcher in the game no matter what the situation is. The Mets insulted the Marlins by having Luis Torrens putch the 9th and they scored 4 runs off him before bringing in Ryne Stanek. You don't insult and upset another MLB team like that. So the Mets tied the game at 8 after trailing 8-2. The Marlins dealt body blows late and hit the Mets where it hurt the most especially after getting nothing in the 7th when Jeff McNeil hit a lead-off triple.
since when do the announcers use 'plate' as a verb like chefs on a cooking show? lame trend. Just say score a run.
The Mets should be leading the league except for one thing: Pete needs a beard.
WS odds with creepy beardless Alonso: 20/1
WS odds with manly bearded Alonso: 4/1
Facts.
Sweeping the Phillies only to (at best) tie an at-home series with the Marlins after curb stomping them last night is the most Mets thing ever…
Earlier in the week, Mets sweep the Phillies. But they struggle to the Marlins, yeah that's baseball
u guys are an absolute JOKE of a baseball team
Diaz pitch to lose Mets π
Mets should seat a Peterson
Not getting that lead off triple in finally took the heart out of the Mets
Trent Grisham has more homeruns than over payed Soto π
Mets have the best OPS in baseball in the last month yet the pitching can't keep up. It's always something! At least the games have been exciting as a mets fan because i speak for all mets fans when I say we are NOT used to this level of offense from them.
Number One News need to know this questiion, when you slide if the ball hits your hand are you out
Back with the number one news channel part 2 to that question is that interference
Mets continue to stink. No pitchers, no playoffs!
Metsβ manager lost the game. Too many runs allowed by the starting pitcher.
Soto is having fun…but lost the game anyway!
Mendonza took too much to change the first pitcher.
