Jeremy Lin: “Its been the honor of a lifetime to compete vs the fiercest competitors under the brightest lights…to challenge what the world thought was possible for someone who looks like me.…I’ll forever be the kid who felt fully alive everytime I touched a basketball”

He deserved a lot more than he was given a chance for in the NBA.
Linsanity will live on forever.
Jeremy Lin will always be a legend. Linsanity was the most fun I experienced watching NBA basketball.
Peyronie’s Disease is no joke
Too bad Linsanity didn’t happen in Brooklyn, otherwise the Nets would retire his jersey lolol
He’s retiring? It feels like Linsanity was yesterday. Time flies. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his career especially when he signed with HOU.
Hawks legend
Legend
He was ballin in Brooklyn but injuries caught up to him
It does annoy me when people act like he was a scrub after the Knicks. He was still a decent player and a pretty good player on both Hornets and Nets, teams that knew how to use him and before he got injured.
It is funny how difficult it was for everybody in America to deal with the fact that there was an Asian dude playing ball with athleticism being his calling card. He wasn’t a great shooter, he sure as shit couldn’t read the court, but goddamnit he’d go at your chest like Westbrook and was roughly as effective when healthy.
Warriors legend
Became immortal with Linsanity.
Great career, and he was able to become an NBA Champion
February 4th, will always remember that day

Injuries derailed Jeremy. It wasn’t a talent thing. He had that in spades.
Salute.
You have to be a certified baller to be a Harvard Asian and still make the NBA. People don’t realize how hard it really is.
Linsanity was such a memorable basketball phenomenon; nothing will ever replace it.
Looking back at his career, it’s a shame he never got a great shot at being a starting PG. His time in HOU overlapped with Harden’s meteoric rise and HOU wanting to put the ball in Harden’s hands to create the offense. Then Lin got stuck on a tanking Lakers team, where Byron Scott would bench Lin, Ed Davis, any player who was playing well, for scrubs like Ronnie Price. Image took a bit of a dive, but Lin did well as a 6th man for the Hornets. He looked pretty good as a starter for BKN until the injury.
Despite that, he left a huge impact on basketball for the Asian American community. He also served as probably one of the best role models to have. Dude experienced racism and xenophobia (from the absurd lack of calls from flagrant fouls, staff preventing him from entering the area because he was asian, ESPN reporter writing “ch*nk in the armor,” to Kenyon Martin calling him out for his hairstyles even though Martin had chinese tattoos), yet never bad mouthed anyone.
His lack of serious offers and opportunities also should’ve shined a bigger light on the underlying prejudice towards asian americans in US basketball. There are some serious players that are not being given serious offers because of their skin color. Lin was leading his HS team to the CIF state finals beating Mater Dei. After seeing some kids who rode the bench on my HS team get offers to D1 schools and never see a minute, it’s absolutely insane to think Lin never got an offer. Even Daryl Morey called it out that Lin tested off the charts based off his metrics, but no one took him. Then Lin played REALLY well against the number 1 pick John Wall in Summer League. Despite all that, dude never got a serious shot until he lucked out in NYK. That’s some bullshit.
All I hope is he writes a book about his true experience in the NBA.
Legend.
Feels like he got kicked out the league too early for reasons other than his game.
At least he got one “big contract” out of it so I hope he’s financially set for life.
I legit remember the first time Jeremy Lin ever checked in to a Warriors game in garbage time. I thought wow that’s cool a bay area Asian guy actually made it to the NBA. Then Linsanity happened and it didn’t even feel real. Although injuries got to him I also think the pressure and weight of being the lone Asian-American to ever have this kind of NBA stardom also heavily affected him after he left the Knicks. Tbh I also think Pringle man was the only coach that rly knew how to utilize and trust Lin’s ability. All in all a legendary and inspiring career although I did not agree with some of his hairstyles
shoutout to getting called “Jeremy Lin” on every single court I’ve stepped foot on since 2012. I don’t think that will ever go away
Serious question: would you rather have his career (and earnings) or Ben Simmons’?
Raptors Legend, he didn’t play much but i’m glad we could get him one.
He’s still so young in life, but he’s lived 10 lifetimes. Athletes going into retirement in their 30s and 40s is crazy when you think about it
