Episode 547: Moves, Moves and More Moves … Oh, and Waller Works

And we’re off. Hi gang. Welcome back. Wednesday, August 27th, 2025. More moves to talk about the Miami Dolphins. You thought they were done. Ha. That’s what I say to you. I’m sorry. Uh, as we always say, Dolphins put together their initial 53man roster on Tuesday. It’s already been tweaked with more moves on Wednesday. And we had a practice and we had a Don Darren Waller sighting. We had an Austin Jackson sighting. So, lots to talk about with once again Chris Perkins from the South Florida sun perk. What’s your biggest takeaway from this day? How’s that for an easy question to start with? Oh my goodness. Um, it would have to be Chris Greer, but uh what I don’t know. Chris Greer Chris Greer covered a lot of ground. He he gave us some roster moves. He basically said that uh you know the culture is being reset that um you couldn’t continue on that um win now path because it’s not sustainable so they have to go back to the win with rookies win with youth and drafties. Uh he said there was no issue with um with Jaylen Ramsay. He said that he was shocked to get Minka Fitzpatrick back in return. I can’t even pick one thing. Yeah, I know. Right. Okay. And that was the wrap-up. Thanks for No, I’m kidding. I’m kid. No, it was I don’t know about you. I That might have been the most interesting Chris Greer media session ever, maybe. I mean, it was packed and he gave us some news uh early on. Told us that they were resigning Kendall Lamb. I know that’s going to make a lot of fans very happy. Yep. And then I’m wondering, okay, and not to poo poo on it, like Kendall’s a really, really good guy and he’s a serviceable backup tackle. But how exactly where exactly does he fit in the rotation? Does he is he your backup left tackle and Larry Boram is your backup right tackle? Uh somebody was suggesting well maybe this suggests that Austin Jackson’s availability for week one might be in jeopardy. But then lo and behold Austin Jackson is back at practice for the first time in a couple of weeks. So my question then would again as I stated right away was what exactly is the plan and the fit for Kendall Lamb? My guess is that Kendall Lamb, as soon as he gets comfortable, he’s your swing tackle. Good luck, Larry Borum. Because Kendall Lamb can play left and right tackle. Once Andrew Meyer gets back, he’s your backup center. Once uh Liam Iikenberg gets back, he’s your backup center guard. And there’s your eight offensive lineman right there. Thank you very much. Oh, damn. I I like the way you settled matters. I mean, that was very decisive and to the point. Love that. Yeah. Um, wow. Uh, interesting. Interesting. Yeah. I I mean, really, that’s that that’s what I think because I I just don’t see how the other guys fit in. You have um swing or multiple position capabilities with with Kendall Lamb and Liam Iikenberg, but it looks like Liam is a long ways off. By the way, I saw Andrew Meyer in the locker room today. Uh, this is off the record. He had stitches in his left elbow as though he might have had some surgery there, but that’s off the record. I wasn’t supposed to see that, but I did dap him up and and say, “Good to see you.” So, nobody heard that. This is just me and you talking. It’s just me and you talking. Precisely. Um, and I do want to bring up something that he said, and I I hate to do this, but there a lot of times, a lot of points last year, the Dolphins had eight offensive linemen on the roster. And when Chris Greer began by saying, “Well, we signing Kendall Lamb because we’re kind of light on offensive lineman.” Eight is not is not a low number in the NFL because because you can’t add the the practice squad guys and the Dolphins are up to 12 official names on the practice squad. We have too much to talk about. There is so many things. Uh the signing of Russell Douglas became official. Cam Smith w up being placed on the nonOT illness list. He’s at at least four games and then the rules are the same as IR. The Dolphins can bring him back after four games. It will count against one of their eight moves. Uh that’s the limit. Dolphins already have used two of those on Jason Sanders and the aforementioned Andrew Meyer. Um and as is personally perfectly reasonable, Chris Ger didn’t want to go into details as to exactly what’s going on with Cam Smith. um did say he was playing his best ball the last two weeks and actually looked pretty good. Um so this came out a little bit out of left field, although as we mentioned yesterday, we didn’t seem out of practice on Tuesday. So maybe it was like, oh, something’s something might be going on. Uh and then the Dolphins waved Jordan Colbert. There reports out there that they’re going to sign him back to the practice squad. This is where I mentioned he has to clear waiverss first. He has not gone through waiverss because his move happened Wednesday uh Wednesday morning. So, Thursday morning, it’s got to be 24 hours or I’m sorry, the move is processed at 4 pm. Yeah. So, he would not going to be resigned to the practice squad on until at least 4 pm on Thursday if he’s not claimed, which very well may be the case because another nugget, no Dolphin players were claimed off waiverss by any teams of the guys they cut to get down to 53, which kind of backs up my contention all along that folks, let’s not go crazy over the young pro promising guys who have decent summers. Doesn’t mean that they they’re everybody around the league is going to want them. Yeah. Um there were some players that that did uh get jobs, right, such as Eric Ezukama uh to Jacksonville and um the I there were two more that uh escape me right now because I got so many names and teams running through my mind. But but but but yeah, you’re correct. I can fill in I can fill in if you want. Mo signed with Tampa Bay or signing with Tampa Bay and Ryan Hayes is signing with the Atlanta Falcons. That’s right. Right. All of them fairly local. Yeah. No. Yeah. So that’s that’s a I guess good for them. Not long flights, but um Yeah. No, you’re right about um you know, we fall in love with people uh you know, Jaylen Phillips says something nice about Grayson Murphy and Derek McClendon and we see them getting sacks against second and third team Dolphins and we think, “Wow, that this team is loaded at edge rusher.” You know, um I still think they did a good job at edge rusher. I thought they had good talent, but the rest of the league does not is not as giddy as I was about those edge rushers. No. Correct. And and again, that’s the thing because I know we’re talking talking Darren McClendon who did some very good things this summer, but now he’s back on the Dolphin practice squad and I know Grayson Murphy got a lot of love and last I checked before we taped this at about a little before 6 PM on Wednesday. I haven’t seen any reports he’s Dolphins did not resign him to the practice squad and I haven’t seen any reports of him being picked up anywhere. Uh his brother Gabriel I believe resigned with the Vikings practice squad after they waved him. I would think that’d be something cool for them if they want to do that. They could be, you know, on the same team or maybe then they be competing for one spot to get elevated. I don’t I don’t know. Um, okay. Well, then there’s so many things I don’t know where to go anymore. Uh, I asked, by the way, just completely not totally topical right now, but I asked because I figured a lot of fans would want to know this once Christian Wilkins get healthy enough to make consider playing or signing with the team. I asked Chris Greer if he would leave the door open to the possibility of bringing him back or whether he wanted to focus on the three rookies and seeing them develop and basically said, “Well, we’ll consider it.” I mean, Christian was very good with us. So, based on his answer, no, no bridges were burned, which obviously is very good. Yeah. I mean, listen, if you put Christian Wilkins on that defensive front, oh, goodness gracious. I mean, you’ve already got a really strong front seven. You’ve added Matthew Judon. If you added Christian Wilkins, wow. I mean, that would be that would be monstrous. I mean, you could really chase some quarterbacks. You wouldn’t be as nervous about Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson, etc., etc., etc. That that would be an outstanding move, but I think that’s way off in the future, probably mid-season at earliest considering Wilkins split injury and, you know, uh if anybody else would come after Wilkins, another team. team meeting. Yeah, correct. No, that’s a very good point. Um, guess we should mention I mentioned Russell Douglas earlier. Dolphins also picked up another quarterback, the one waiver claim they made, which was former Indianapolis Colts second round pick Julian Guju Brents, uh, who certainly looks the part of a like quarterback you want because he’s long. He’s 6’3 with very long arms, not super fast, but then again, he can’t have everything. and there have been injury issues with him in his first two seasons with the Colts, including last year going on IR after two games. So, um I have personally no issue with taking a shot on a guy um like that with a high-end ceiling, very good potential. If the the issue is the Colts were like, “This guy can’t stay healthy. We’re not going to take the chance anymore.” And then, and mind you, the Colts wound up signing Xavier Howard uh out of his home in in South Florida or Houston, wherever he was at the time, instead of keeping this guy or instead of investing more time in him, the Dolphins cornerback room being what it was, I have zero issue with taking that shot. And if it doesn’t pan out and the dude winds up having injury issues again with the Dolphins, you gave it a shot. And no complaining then. if there’s no complaining now. Yeah, it’s it’s a it’s a lowrisk maneuver. Uh but really it just all gets back to they’ve got to be wishing they would have drafted a quarterback higher than Jason in the fifth round. It always gets back to that with me. Um but again, if they don’t Will Johnson went I’m pretty sure went after Jonas Oaya. So, if you don’t draft Will Johnson, then you would have needed another guard, would you not have? You would have you I mean, basically, you you wouldn’t have traded up to get Jonah if you planned on drafting a a cornerback higher. Okay, that’s fair. Um, and there’s another uh pickup, this is per reports, that the Dolphins will be signing to their practice squad. Another guy who a lot of fans are very high on who I I think has got some good reports from around the league. That’s tight end Greg Doulich who was waved by the Giants. I reached out to my Giants on SI counterpart Patricia Traina uh who told me like there’s something there. So, and if you look at the Dolphins tight end room, the way it was constructed before is Darren Waller, Julian Hill, and Tanner Connor. Absolutely zero problem with bringing in somebody else. Give him a look on the practice squad. See what you got. He’s going to join Aiden Hill. I mean Aiden Hill. Who’s Hayden Hill? Hayden Ruchi on the practice squad who’s a blocking specialist. If they get something out of Dulich, that’d be great. And the other new name on the practice squad, which hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s been reported, is Jeff Wilson Jr., our good friend. Um, who will provide some veteran a veteran option at running back for week one with Jaylen Wright likely not to be ready. And then so the Dolphins have three halfbacks on their roster for that game with Devon Han and Ali Gordon too. Yeah, I would have liked to have seen him get more power um at at the Jeff Wilson spot just in case Ali doesn’t um you know he’s a rookie on the road in in week one. Um you’ve got the speed with Aan. I would I would have liked to have seen more power. Jeff Wilson is a slasher, not a power guy. But I’m never going to be mad to see Jeff Wilson smile in that locker room. He’s a good upbeat guy like Kendall Lamb is. Both of them can play. They’re veterans. They’re they know the team. They know the system. So, thumbs up on that. But, but you know, for thumbs up personally, but professionally, I would have liked to have seen the Dolphins get a power element in that in that running back room. more power because you’re not totally trusting Ali Gordon 2 yet. Well, I because Ali Gordon 2 is a rookie and you know, rookies make mistakes. I listen um you know he he’s he’s improved his his pass protection and Mike McDaniel talked about you know he’s doing better things without the ball but you know if I’m Tua I’m like boy I I hope this guy sees this blitz coming which he did against Jacksonville. Yes he did a couple of times. Yeah and I think I think that can be coached. I’m not I’m not concerned that much cuz generally speaking, again, to me, running back is a position that transitions probably as easily, if not easier than most other positions from college. And I like what I’ve seen and it goes along with the Chris Greer theme of like time to play the young guys, get a little bit younger and which is going to benefit them in the future if they hit on those guys. Again, this is this is the deal because right now we’ve seen with Cam Smith going on NFI, you’re without your topic from 2023. Channing Tindle’s been released. And by the way, also no sign of anybody picking them up. You’re without your topic from like 2022. Your second pick from 2022 with Eric Zukama now in Jacksonville. And the one hit in those two drafts was Devon Han. So, um I hate it when I lose my train. I thought I was looking Oh, the the kicker situation. Yes. So, the Dolphins had a competition with four kickers on Tuesday. The four kickers were Riley Patterson, Zayn Gonzalez, Eddie Panero, and Greg Joseph. The winner of the competition was Riley Patterson. Uh, but and this I I suggested this either on this podcast or on the Dolphins Collective that don’t be surprised if the Dolphins do what they did with their long snappers last year, which is signed Riley Passion to the practice squad, which they did. Elevate him three times. And this is what Chris Gri said basically. Yep. He’s going to elevate him three times. At that point, they’re going to evaluate things, including where J Jason Sanders is in his recovery. And I don’t I don’t know about you, but based on the tone as much as the words that were used, I’m not totally sold on the idea that it’s four weeks and Jason Sanders is back. I I kind of like and maybe it’s the alarmist in me that that is going to that conclusion right away, but it almost sounds like it may be more in four weeks. But anyway, if they get to after three games and they see Jason Sanders is still a few weeks away and Riley Patterson’s been lights out, then at that point, instead of going the route of, okay, getting another guy on the practice squad, maybe you, you know, you devote a roster spot to Patterson and this sign to the active roster so he can continue kicking because the one benefit of not wasting a roster spot is again is you could use it on another position. That’s that’s the big thing right there is that that if if Riley Patterson has been decent uh but not good then it’s like boy now you got to use a roster spot on on this guy and get rid of somebody and maybe you’ve only got him for another two or three games and and then Jason Sanders who in fact has made 27 consecutive field goals uh the longest current streak in the NFL then he comes back and takes that spot. So, it’s you for the Dolphins sake, you hope that Riley Patterson is lights out both because you need him to be lights out and because you would need that to be an easy decision if you need to put him on the roster that yes, this is the guy we put on as opposed to maybe there’s something better out there, somebody we can a different kicker we can get for two or three weeks, which would really kind of muck up the whole process. You you want right you want some consistency with you know with a new kicker in this situation. Yep. Should mention also I forgot about this this one player uh another one who’s going to have to go through waiverss a Dolphin player was Isaiah Johnson cornerback. He was waved when the Dolphins claimed Brents off waivers. So I’m going to be going all over the place so I apologize folks. It’s a little scattershot but such as life in the big city or in the suburbs wherever you may be. Uh, this one is interesting. Did you guys check out the Buffalo Bills practice squad now? No, it includes Jordan Phillips and not not the rookie fifth round pick from Maryland who plays with the Dolphins. Yes. The 2015 second round pick from Oklahoma. Yes. Um, who was up and down in his time during the Dolphins and who made some friends in the media, Omar. Um, and also Jordan Puyer. Yes. signed to the Bills practice squad and it’s almost they’re almost saying it that part of it is for him to serve as a mentor typecoach and help out if needed kind of like what they did last year toward the end of the season with Micah height and I know a lot of Dolphin fans I’ve seen the tweets already can he be can he be on the field in week three in that Thursday night game in Buffalo so Tyreek and Wadd can go go crazy against him I you know what um good for Jordan Pyer I have nothing against him. He was we He didn’t talk to us a whole lot and that’s cuz we didn’t go to him a whole lot. He was friendly when we talked to him. He’s clearly on the downside, but he’s back in the league and and that’s that’s good for him. Again, I have nothing against him. That penalty that he committed was ugly. Um I I don’t I don’t know that it could have been avoided. just that I guess you had to just target very very a lot lower than he targeted, but it wasn’t a it wasn’t a I’m going to come in and take this guy’s head off. It was I’m going to put a hit on him and damn, helmet to helmet. I guess he should have been more aware as a veteran, but it wasn’t a it wasn’t a careless play. It was a play that turned out bad and and turned out to lose the game for the Dolphins, but Pooyer’s back in the lead. Good for him. No, I I agree. And look, I’m not going to sugarcoat it. This is a guy who’s massively on the back nine of his of his NFL career, if not on 17th green. Um, but he’s he brings great intangibles and whether how well that works out for the Bills who have like kind of fairly significant secondary issues. They’re kind of counting on Tradavius White uh who’s not the cornerback he once was, who’s dealing with an injury. I I only know that there’s certainty for his status in week one. Um so it sets up for an interesting Thursday night matchup where the Dolphins maybe could have the ability if they can get things done to get some, you know, some damage done against that Buffalo secondary. Um okay, let’s move on to practice. As I mentioned earlier, we Austin Jackson was out there. Darren Waller finally was out there. Uh, and he spoke after practice, I guess. Uh, you were there. I wasn’t able to make it. I had to tend to some important affairs. Um, anything stand out from anything either of those guys said? No. You know, um, Austin Jackson seemed confident and upbeat. So did Darren Waller. Jackson, um, you know, said that he’s going to be out there for week one. Darren Waller said he’s ramping up, but he didn’t express any um reservations about being out there for week one. Um he said that yeah, you’ve just got to he’s been out for so long. It’s it’s a progression that you have to kind of build up to it. And so um we’ll see how this turns out. I I I I I have much more confidence in in Austin Jackson uh who was actually out there practicing than Darren Waller who we did not see out there actively participating in a lot of things. So I I I still got a little skepticism about this Darren Waller experiment. Um, I thought it was interesting that Chris Greer said, you know, uh, I asked him about Waller and if he’s battling an injury, and Greer said, “No, it’s just that when somebody’s been away from football this long, you don’t want to rush them back.” And he he kind of alluded to, we we’ve been through that before and we don’t want it to happen again. And the obvious comparison is OBJ, right? that you signed him in May, he wasn’t activated until October and then you released him in December. Waste of time. And so they don’t want to repeat that is what it is what how it came off to me from Chris Greer. But I I think they’ve overcompensated. And I think last year, if I remember though, he came out long after the fact that, oh, by the way, OBJ had some sort of procedure in the offseason, which we didn’t know at the time when he’s starting the training camp on PUP and he starts the regular season on PUP. And we’re like, hell’s going on here. And and with Waller, it’s like, okay. And then even if you heard Drew Rosenaus’s comments on his weekly spot on WSVN every Sunday night, he was asked by Josh Moser last Sunday about his confidence in Waller being ready for week one and it wasn’t it was less than 100% definitive and I was I’m thinking, whoa, what’s going on here? And then you mentioned basically he did very little other than catch passes on the side. I was like, what’s going on here? And then Tyreek not a practice again today. I mean, it’s Yeah. And I get I get it. You want to be careful with those guys. And if they’re all there in week one, Waller, Tyreek, Devon Chan, and there are no setbacks. Once that starts, what’s going on right now will not matter one bit. As it stands right now, it makes me go ahead gang. Say it. Say it with me. Three, two, one. Thank you. Crazy. Yes. And you know, the the thing with kind of the unsettling thing with Tyreek is, you know, Tyreek just yaps, but we remember after the Houston game when he talked about, you know, I need more practice time with Tua. Where where is it? Like where is it? We’re not going to see it going into week one. I know those guys have been together for three years, but just where where are we going to be with the practice time, with the chemistry? We know it’s going to be there with with Tua and Jaylen Waddle, but with Tua and Tyreek, I’ve got to question it. With Tua and Waddle, I’ve got to question it. Um Darren Waller has not been in the lineup. I’ve got to question whether he’s going to be a smooth fit. I feel better about Austin Jackson. uh because he’s he he doesn’t carry the ball and and you know I I think it’s it’s going to be a lot of times you’re on an island out there at right tackle and then he’s playing next to James Daniels that I think that they can get something figured out but yeah the the you know by the way we saw a Chan out at practice today he wasn’t doing anything he was talking to Chris Greer for part of the time no no rep or anything on either of his calves so I guess that’s a good sign as far as his progress and and him not having any setbacks or him not uh you know he wasn’t um actively rehabbing at the time. It looked like he was done with his rehab for the day. So, I’m going to take that as a positive that he is progressing and he will be ready for week one. But all these missing key offensive pieces that that they’re not getting in sync, I I it it concerns me. I still think the Dolphins win that game, but it just kind of concerns me how they’ll look and ramping up to Buffalo. Not that I’m looking past the Colts or the Patriots. Sure. Sounds like I It does sound like that. It does sound like Well, I’m not playing, but you know, it doesn’t matter if I look past them. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah. Uh but I do worry about how quickly they can get in sync. Yeah. and the New England the I’m sorry the Indie defense has injury questions in the secondary. I mean they’ve been they’ve been working in the secondary pretty good. Outside of that up front they’re pretty good. I mean they got some players uh in their in their front seven. To me to me the biggest reason for confidence in that week one game is Daniel Jones. I mean I don’t mean I mean to be disrespectful but Daniel Jones doesn’t worry me. Sorry doesn’t worry me at all. Um, okay. For recordkeeping purposes here, I mentioned Riley Patterson already on the practice squad. Here are the other 11 players who the Dolphins officially have made part of their practice squad so far. John Saunders Jr., Cornell Armstrong, BJ Adams, Quinton Bell, Braden Daniels, Josh PBY, Theoise Jr., Hayden Ruchi, AJ Henning, and Alex Huntley. So, those are all guys who were waved on Tuesday. If you want to get technical, Cornell Armstrong was released. He wasn’t waved because he’s a vested veteran. Uh but if you notice, as we said before, no Grayson Murphy, some of the other guys um also have not been resent to practice squad that gives them 12. They have a limit of 16 unless they get an international player and that’s not going to be Baron Moss, a Dominican tackle because he was waved injured on Tuesday. So it may be that it’s 16. And if we add Dosich, Jordan Colbert if he clears waiverss and Jeff Wilson, that’s 15. Maybe Isaiah Johnson is 16 if he also clears waiverss. Um, and then a couple of names I wanted to I like to keep up with my former Dolphins. You guys might not. I do. So, uh, we mentioned, sorry, Grant Dubos, you and I have been interested. Grand Dubos was was waved with an injury settlement by the Buffalo Bills. Cedric Wilson Jr. and Jack Stole the tight end the Dolphins claimed off waiverss from the Eagles last year. Both released by the New Orleans Saints. Uh Thomas Moore said who was the punter in 2022 was released by the 49ers on Tuesday, resigned by the 49ers on Wednesday. Guess it’s one of those they needed the roster flexibility. Speaking of the 49ers, two members of their practice squad, Robbie Chosen and Eli Apple. And then uh Tyler Huntley visited the Baltimore Ravens with the expectation he will be joining their practice squad as he was last year in the same spot before the Dolphins went calling and said, “We need help. Come on and help us out.” And let’s close out with some more Chris Greer um comments. And the one that you mentioned it earlier, but that was very interesting when he said he was quote unquote shocked that he was able to get Mav Fitzpatrick back from the Steelers in a trade that sent Jaylen Ramsey and Jon Smith over there. Um, I was shocked that he was shocked, you know, and going a step beyond that, can you imagine how Minka felt? If Chris Greer was shocked, how shocked was Minka? And that’s why you understand more when we talked to Minka the first time. Minka set some parameters. I’m not going to talk about the Brian Flores thing the first time I was here. I’m not going to talk about being released by Pittsburgh. Okay, guys. I’m open for any question you want to ask me. It’s like, uh, well, Ma, I’m not talking about the 25 season. I’m not talking about the defense. I’m not talking. Go ahead. But, but yeah. Uh, yeah. for, you know, Chris Greer gives us um good stuff and today he was really really good. Um boy, yeah, the the thing about the emails, you know, that was that was just very sobering. Um I yeah, I had asked him how his interactions with fans are and and he said usually it’s positive, but you know, every now and then I I get, you know, some bad emails, including one person who said, “I hope your kids uh die of cancer.” And it’s like, wow. Uh but um Greer was very pro. I’m sorry to interrupt that is it is it is I I just wanted to put that out there so people understand you know it’s that it’s just sports people. It’s just sports you know. Um but Greer was very open with us. Uh you know I know he didn’t tell us everything quote unquote but but saying that he was shocked to get to get Minka and and then I think he followed up with very surprised. Um, boy, I I I can’t imagine how Minka must have felt getting the news of that trade. Yeah. No, I think he was blindsided by it. I know Binko was was on the lookout for a new contract in Pittsburgh. You know, he thought he was like, you know, one of the key pieces of their defense was going to be there a while with a contending team and then boom, get straight. And yeah, and I think that was clear early on that one of the reasons they didn’t want to talk because he was he was kind of dealing with it still. And one anecdote that I really liked about um we’re also as he mentioned getting a visit from Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zitto and Matthew Kachchuck uh with the Stanley Cup at the Dolphin facility and there’s a connection here as most of you are aware or not aware Chris Greer’s brother is his name is Mike Greer is the general manager of the San Jose Sharks. He’s a former NHL player, solid player, um, physical right-winger, solid player. And Bill Zitto, before he became an an NHL executive, was an agent. And then Chris Greer revealed that Bill Zitto tried to get Mike Greer as a client and hence they had a prior connection there. And obviously being in the same area, it it made sense for Bill Zitto and Matthew Kachchuck to visit the Dolphins. And Greer relayed that one of the messages that ZTO and Kachuk pass along was the importance of being swimming in the same direction basically all team for the same goal which may may have played a part or kind of steered the Dolphins vision into let’s get out guys who are more concerned about team success than having outside interests uh which led to the departure or played a role in the departure of certain players. uh during do you do you think in light of that and in light of the win now thing not working out? Do you think that either Greer or McDaniel has any regrets about that decision to abandon the the path they were going on which they’re now back on and going for the win now? I like the win now. I support it 100%. I it didn’t work out but I thought that was a great decision. uh windows are not open for very long and I support it. Do you think either Greer or McDaniel thinks we probably shouldn’t have done that? We should have kept going with this youth fiscally responsible path because you know the Panthers took a different path. They they they I think they I wonder if the Dolphins even talking to Bill Zto if they regret staying with the speed finesse path because getting Matthew Kachchuck was like that high-scoring thing is not going to work. We need to be a little more physical and aggressive. That might be the bread I think they got from Bill Zto maybe, if any. Yeah. Yeah. But it’s I I hear what you’re saying. Yeah. And no, there’s something to that, but I I don’t know that necessarily. I think both certainly Mike McDaniel has enough conviction in what he’s doing. Yeah. That he’s going to say it didn’t work out the way we wanted it to, but it still was the right course. And again, if you look at what the Dolphins did in terms of setting themselves up to be able to get the players to make like a major push and getting like clearing all the cap space in 2019, dumping every significant player, like basically having a flush year and then after that they wind up with draft capital up the wazoo, a lot of cap space. And then they went out and got the bigname players who are difference makers. I don’t have an issue with it. And guess what? The LA Rams did it and they got a Super Bowl title. It didn’t work out for the Dolphins, but I I don’t fault the process. Um, some of the picks didn’t pan out. I don’t think they maxed out. They had 20 and 2021 to me was always going to be look at those two drafts. They had the draft capital to set themselves up for several years and it wasn’t it’s certainly not enough because they got some good players, but they didn’t max it out nearly as much as they could have. Yeah. They didn’t do the Detroit Lions draft capital thing. Yeah. And Yeah. No, correct. And it’s not like the the Yeah, the Lions hit rate has been much much better. Not that they hit on everything and even the Eagles don’t hit on everything, right? But they hit at a higher rate. Uh yeah, that’s what happens. Okay. Uh that’s going to wrap it up. I forgot to mention at the top of the show, so I’ll do it at the bottom of the show. Uh please like, subscribe, comment, all that good stuff. The Dolphins are back at practice on Thursday before they take the weekend off. Uh Friday, Saturday, Sunday, back at work on Monday, Labor Day, and then it’s game week. I love I love game week. Uh that’s game week. Yeah, I love that. Um so that’s going to be fun. And by the way, for those wondering, in terms of specifics of the injuries and all that, that’s going to come next Wednesday, September 3rd. Dolphins have to put out their first official injury report where every player who is not a full participant or is getting treatment will have his injury listed along with his uh practice participation. So maybe some of those mysteries that are out there will be cleared up. Uh we will be back here tomorrow, more than likely late afternoon to wrap up everything that happens in Dolphins Camp. He is Chris Perkins from the South Florida Suns Sentinel. And also a quick alert. If for some reason you watch this episode but not tomorrow, which would be really, really, really disappointing. But if that happens, Perk has a Dolphins deep dive with Perk on Friday at noon Eastern time. So check that out. Check out his fine written content at sunsunnel.com. Check out my written content and that of my team at miam dolphins onsi.com. And enough of my babbling. That’s going to wrap it up. Perk, thanks as always and we’ll see you tomorrow.

  1. ITS JUST SPORTS? You clowns dont pay a dime. He is incompetent and playing victim,,Did fans make all of the dumbaas mistakes Grier has made..Did We do that? Chris needs to go back to the Local beat while Little miss Barry Sunshine writes for the thrifty nickle

  2. Solid waiver pickups. Im surprised because grier normally picks up bums like tim boyle and other non factor players. If they can pick up more online depth and get damien martinez that would be major W

  3. Come back to this comment when Grier is fired in 4 months. It’s amazing how lackluster this franchise has been and the complacency that’s been going on

  4. Qb room ^
    Rb room ^
    Wr room ^
    TE room wash
    Oline ^
    Dline^
    Edge^
    Safety ^
CB room deeper and full of potential

Opponents won’t be able to throw deep so if they keep zone scheme with this group I feel we are top 10
    Defense again

Everyone is overreacting when games have not even been played yet , not to mention our schedule is great we play bills both games in good weather and the easier teams in snow which is nice I’m optimistic we have a great season

  5. Poup, The problem with the OBJ episode, is Grier hid the fact OBJ would be unavailable to start the season. (To which you just alluded!) Great minds, ya know.

  6. How come Poup's stadium is full but no one showed up for the Perk?
My man! I'd come see you buddy!! Lol
    Great show as always gentlemen.
    ✌️😎

  7. Why is Cam Smith still on this team? What is the point of keeping him around if there’s not a snowball’s chance in Hell he’s going to play for this team? Grier needs to admit he’s just another high round bust draft pick of his and move on.

  8. Win now vs. youth movement doesn't matter. The biggest issue I see with the Dolphins is the inordinate amount of injuries. I don't know. Maybe this is every team, but it seems like the Phins have a higher number than most.

  9. Alain, after practicing and playing against Detroit you said Detroit’s number 38 was very noticeable…. I watched the preseason game, and yes he was very noticeable. And yet this guy, Nick Whiteside is still out there and not on our practice squad, when he very well could be a starter for us 🤦🏻‍♂️….whisper his name to Weaver and McDaniel’s please 😉
