St. Louis Cardinals Fans Send A STATEMENT To Ownership/Front Office With Record Low Attendance!
Unfortunately, the Cardinals made the wrong kind of history last night. The team announced fewer than 18,000 tickets were sold for Monday night’s game, making it the least attended game in Bush Stadium 3’s history. Not good. Not good. But you know what? From a fan base perspective, speaking up and voicing your displeasure through your actions, that’s a tip of the cap to the St. Louis Cardinals fan base. That’s what you do, right? It’s tough to do because it requires you sort of unplugging or disconnecting from something that you love. But to force change, take action. And the St. Louis Cardinal are doing that by taking in action from a standpoint of actually going to the Cardinals games. This has been a story all year long. But as was just mentioned here in this Fox 2 St. Louis YouTube video that is pushing 200,000 views by the way in just two days. We have now reached a new low when it comes to Bush Stadium’s attendance under 18,000 on Monday. And I get it’s the Pirates. It’s back to school. Uh maybe there’s uh some football fever in the air and this Cardinals team that by the way is out of it at 66 and 69. The fan base is just saying, “Hey, I got I got other things to do.” But I do think I mean we’ve been able to push through this in the past in St. Louis. Push through back to school. Push through the return of football and anything else that might be distracting or grabbing your attention. um but not this year and I think it is a message that is being sent to that front office again 66 and 69 on the year. Uh let’s take a look at the numbers real quick when it comes to attendance. It was 17675 on Monday. Bounced back slightly on Tuesday, up to 186, then 198 on Wednesday, and then Thursday was 188. So, uh, we got back above the 18,000 number. Congratulations, uh, Mr. Ditz and Mr. Mock or Mazock. Um, this is bad. This is bad because here’s the attendance. We have yet to cross the two million attendance threshold this year. We really should be able to do that. But 3 million is the goal. A and that is where they had been. You had to go back to 2003 uh prior to last year to find a regular societal baseball season. Okay? We don’t count 2020. We don’t count 2021 because we still had like social distancing and and parks not being all the way full and and everything. So 2021 and in 2020 we throw out uh but 2024 was the first year since 2003 that they did not surpass 3 million in attendance and this year they are going to barely crawl over 2 million in attendance. This is a terrible look for the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Again, great job by the fans. I applaud the fan base for standing up and saying enough is enough. Uh that YouTube video had some clips from some fans. Let’s listen to what a couple fans had to say. This is Daniel Atkins. St. Louis Cardinal fans are spoiled. You know, we’re used to winning. That’s our culture. And they’re not winning right now. They’re not winning at all. Here is another fan. People tried to start the wave last night and it didn’t go anywhere because they can’t start the damn wave. There weren’t enough people there to kind of get it around the stadium. A ripple. Not enough fans to get the damn wave around the stadium. I mean, you see the the image here. Yeah, it’s going to die in left field. That that wave is just going to sort of crash out. Uh one more fan. Look at ballark village. It’s empty right now. If you look around, there’s not a lot of fans and just not a lot to do right now. And if there’s no fans there, guess what? Money’s not being spent. That means sponsors are not getting their message seen. That means the concessions are not being sold. This is a major action on the on on the on the side of this St. Louis Cardinals fan base because uh Dwit is going to feel it in his pocket because the gate is down. uh your partners are are going to be down, which means somebody may want to renegotiate next year or get out next year if you’re headed in this direction moving forward, which I mean, where are the Cardinals going next year? We’ve been talking about it a lot on the channel as it pertains to the Cardinals and some other organizations as the uh as it pops up, but wasted years. This St. Louis Cardinals team now again 66 to 69 has another wasted year and I talked about it before the season began that that is what this was shaping up to be with Oliver Marmal still as the head coach the manager of this team they’re not going anywhere with the with John Mazak with Hin Bloom with that transition seeming to I don’t know slow things down to a halt when it comes to acquisitions and movement and trades and free agents and all that. Uh, again, wasting years. Who’s got years to waste? Who enters 2026 in a couple of months and decides, you know what, for my job, I’m just going to mail it in this year. I don’t care. I’m not trying to work my way up. Who goes into school and says, you know what, if I got a repeat freshman year next year, I’m fine with that. I don’t I don’t care. I Yeah, I’ll waste I’ll waste a year. Nobody. Absolutely nobody has years to waste. But apparently the St. those Cardinals do because Dwit and Misak and Bloom, whatever control he has on the situation, they’re not improving this ball club. I mean, take a look. Well, okay. I’m I’ve got so many thoughts and I’m trying to I’m trying to organize them here in my head. Uh, last year we had a sub 500 mark. We had the or no, not last year, but two years ago, 71 and 91. 2023 is when this all started. At 71 and 91, they still drew 3.2 million in attendance. Last year, they went 83 and 79. And remember, that was an up and down year. If I remember right, there was a big winning streak that really played a role in them ending up over 500 uh by the end of the year. They drew the sub 3 million in attendance. And this year, they’re barely going to cross over 2 million when all is said and done. and they’re hovering around 500. This started in 2023. No action was taken after that 2023 season. Marvel needed to go. There needed to be an overhaul in the front office. I argue Mislock needed to go then. That is, if timing is right in my mind, that’s before Bloom even became available. They needed Mosaic out on the street and to bring somebody new in to change the course of action when it came to scouting, when it came to player development, when it came to all of those elements that we are now seeing today, a team that is sitting at below 500 and will likely finish below 500 and well below the 3 million in attendance. Now the problem with that that where this sort of backfires is that Dwit has basically said that the attendance helps determine the payroll which is a problem. I I was reading here more about the situation in Viva Alberto’s talking about uh Bill Dwit essentially say that payroll is tied to attendance. So if attendance dropped and it is then payroll would have to drop as well. Uh that is this blurb right here from this writer Viva Alberto. This was written by, let me give him some credit, uh, by Jason Hill. This was about two weeks ago that he put this article out on Viva Alberto. So, let’s let’s consider if that’s going to be the plan again this offseason. And remember, what does Hyen Bloom do? Because he’s taken over. Hyen Bloom makes the most out of a dollar. That should scare you. That should actually scare you. I don’t think that should build confidence unless he’s got a a whole new scouting development he’s going to bring in and is going to revamp it. I I think this team needs to invest in the free agent market. But with Bloom and with the payroll, I don’t know if it’s going to happen. Uh because when we think about the St. Louis Cardinals and their payroll situation right now, there’s only one key player coming off the books and that’s Miles Michael at 17.6 million. We say, “Well, there’s there it is, Jim. they’ll just they’ll just you know not sign anybody what which is not good but that 17.6 Six is very quickly reallocated when you consider the raises that Jojo Romero, Lars Newar, Brendan Donovan, John King, Adrien Palant, Nolan Gorman, Alec Burlson, and Matthew Liberator will all receive. Liberator, sorry, I I’m trying to break the habit. Like for the longest time, I called them Liberator. I know it’s Liberator. Um, all of these players have a raise coming of one, two, $3 million over what they made last year. that is easily going to take that 17 that looks like it’s coming off the books and reapply it. So, we are at a situation where we are not going to be finding a payroll gap there. I mean, look at the payroll situation right here. 2024’s payroll was 183. The estimated 2025 payroll is 144. We went down $40 million and attendance has gone down even more. Where are they going to find the money? Now, there’s going to have to be a complete change in uh in in in Bill Dowit’s mindset on how this payroll or how the roster is paid for because it it can’t work this way. It absolutely maybe when you had the 34, the 35, the 36 million in attendance, you could then justify your payroll attached or or related to the attendance figure. He can’t do that now because the payroll uh would would would drop to a hundred million if we are going to base that on attendance because attendance is down so incredibly. So you’re going to have to dip into your own pocket, buddy. And you’re going to have to again go out there and grab some experienced players. Go grab some stars this off season because there is no money coming off the books after you add the arbitration dollars. the Nolan Aronado thing. Anybody that is that is in the middle of typing, well, they’ll just trade Nolan Aronado and get his 27 million off the books. Will they couldn’t get the money off the books this last off seasonason? Now, I know there was a $32 million price tag attached to the 2025 season, but why would anybody want to pay 27 million for Nolanado next year and then be on the hook for 15 million in 2027? An aging player, skills declining. Sorry, nobody’s going to want him next year either. So, if you do trade him, I don’t think you get the salary dump. I think you’re going to have to maybe eat some of that contract or you may not find a trade partner. So this is a a financial situation that really does not have a answer if we are trying to match our payroll to the attendance figure and and as it is I mean again this is why I argue they need to go out and get stars uh because from a trade perspective let’s say you’re going to try to trade for a guy they don’t really have attractive pieces to trade to go get uh any star players that may be trade bait this off season. I mean, look at the team right now when we are trying to find the guys that draw people to the ballpark. Look, I I get as baseball nerds, uh, we we’ll get excited about Lars Nar and and and Wilson Contrus is a name. Uh, Mason Win plays good defense, but what is there that’s really exciting here right now? Now, it’s not their fault that the guys that will draw, Nolan Aronado and Brendan Donovan, are hurt. But again, this is not something that has just crept up over the last couple weeks. This has been going on all year in St. Louis. So, you kind of get to a point where you’re relying on who’s pitching tonight. Got to go see fill in the blank. Well, after Sunny Gray, who do you want to go see pitch? And even Sunny Gay’s been up and down this year. There is there is nobody. I mean, the Pittsburgh Pirates next year are going to have five guys in that rotation that you’re going to say, “I got to go see them.” You’re essentially going to be counting on the road team coming in with the product that your fan base wants to watch because your product isn’t going to be there unless you go out there and you make some big additions in the free agent market, which is going to require spending money after a year where the payroll, I’m sorry, not the payroll, the attendance, they they Are they going to be connected? We’ll see. Where the attendance is drastically down. Does that also pull the payroll down? I mean, we can’t even start the wave at Bush Stadium right now. It’s bad, but it is a good job by the St. Louis Cardinal fan base. You have made your point and it is going to have to force change. I mean, we already know we’re going from Maak to Bloom. I don’t know how excited I am about that, but anything is better than Mazak at this point. Is that is that kind of where we’re at? I gota I I gotta think I got to hope that there will be a managerial change. There are some uh former St. Louis Cardinal greats that have interest in managing. I got to get one of them. I have to go and get one of those guys. Yadier Molina, Albert Pulse. The year that they had in 2020. Okay, now I’m forgetting the year. uh the 2022 year, Oliver Marvel’s first year that had a lot to do with Buhol and Molina and then as soon as they left it all fell apart. So Marvel’s not the guy. need a new manager and Dit’s got to get a new philosophy because it is not going to work to judge your payroll off of your attendance because the attendance this is going to be the lowest the attendance has been since the freaking 90s guys the 90s can’t happen you can’t go that far backwards that is a statement again good job by the Cardinals fan base making a statement to this Cardinals front office that changes need to be made and they will now absolutely have to be made. Have to. Again, good job Cardinals fans. What do you guys think? Comment down below on this Cardinal situation. Are you a Cardinals fan? What’s to blame? What’s the biggest factor in how we’ve gotten here? Do you hate Misak? Do you hate Marmal? Do you hate the scouting department? Do you hate the player development department? There’s a lot to choose from. What do you think is the biggest problem? Comment down below. That is going to do it for me everybody. Ballcap Nation, I salute you. Thank you for coming in and spending time with the video. To the 100 Club, thank you for making it to this point, the very end. It does amazing things for the algorithm. So, an extra salute to you guys. Thank you for helping promote this video in YouTube’s algorithm. That’s it for me, everybody. I mean, again, make sure smash that like on the way out. And remember, if it’s low, let it go. And if it’s high, let it fly. I’ll catch you next time.

My bank account is in a rebuild phase for the next 5 to 6 seasons.b This is the first year in 20 years i didn't go to a single game.
I'm new to the area. And from what I've heard over that couple of years… the unifying concensus among fans of different ages and backgrounds is that the ownership makes poor decisions with regards to talent. They refuse to build for the future.
As someone who sells tickets for Cardinals fans every year, this is been the worst year by far‼️
We need to make a statement to the mets too. Cause something needs to change. And they are going to build a FU*KING Casino next to the ballpark!!! NO WAY!!
Time to move the team, maybe to Canada
Good for Cards fans! I wish Cubs fans/ Rockies fans were as inteligent. mediocrity should NOT be accepted.
The rule changes made the game not worth watching couldn't care less about mlb
Let the city die a slow economic death.
We've complained our starters haven't been good enough of better part of a decade. What improvement was made? We replaced our ace with an aging ace. I like sonny. I was really excited to bring him in. But it's a net zero gain. Nothing has changed. Manager, same thing. How about our bullpen? Same shitty situation. The front office knows exactly why nobody is showing up and they refuse to make any improvement or even acknowledge it. Instead they talk about how much they like the yes man over winning and raise consessions. A beer was $15 and a rum and coke was over $30. "Lets punish our fans for not supporting us want to lose". Thats why we have record low attendance. I hope we can get it down below 10k for a game this year. That's what they deserve.
Cards fans have always been one of my most respected fan bases. They understand the game, and they are enthusiastic about the game. It’s gone this far… I feel for them.
The boring baseball is almost impossible to watch on tv much less in person. MLB has real problems with the insane pricing of everything and the downtown St. Louis experience is not good. It gets comical listening to St. Louis sports talk radio acting like they can get something from trading mediocre players for other mediocre players. Congratulations to the Brewers for annihilating these other NL Central teams.
The decline started with the death of Oscar Taveras. After that tragedy, we never found any plan for the outfield, which has been by far the least productive outfield in all of MLB ever since. Add to that many disastrous trades for washed up pitchers, and Mozeliak's firing of Shildt.
should have done this years ago…
Maybe the front office needs to have woke activities 🌈like the Dodgers did a few years ago. 😂
As a Royals fan who has a number of friends that are Cardinals fans, I have been told for years how wonderful Cards fans are because they are so loyal and their attendance is amazing. I have been told that Royals fans are no good because attendance has been low for years, and we only show up if we are good, which is pretty rare. Been told that real fans show up and support their team no matter what. Now all of the sudden it is admirable to not show up when your team isn’t winning??? Priceless.
The Cards are a religion in STL – even when the Rams were in STL and the best team in the NFL Kurt Warner himself would have been denied a table at a restaurant if a Cards utility infielder wanted that table. For decades the Cards carried as much clout as big market trams from NY or LA, even surpassing them. But this decline has been coming fir a long time. The STL farm system was famous for finding and fostering talent, and the front office was shrewd with signing players that made the most impact for the team, not the ones who sold the most jerseys. STL was the standard for decades of an organization that did baseball " the right way." Even when they had down years, fans always believed that the team would rebound because the fans trusted the organization. And they were right, at the time. That's not the case now. Unlike the long and legendary history of the team, the fans no longer have any confidence in the organization for the first time in the team's history.
The Marlins wish they got that type of attendance lol
This all began when Shildt was fired because ownership and front office decided to become cheapskates and wanted to ask for tax money to do renovations to the stadium…
For fans that follow the team closely, I think realistically these tensions have been rising in the fanbase since around 2018. It felt like the wheels came off the Cardinals' plans starting around the passing of Oscar Taveras. That's when the Cardinals started making some trades to try and find new offense that didn't pan out, and resulted in sending out young pitchers who flourished elsewhere while the Cardinals, in turn, failed to develop the pitching prospects they held on to.
As the team continued to decline, fans became more and more frustrated at the fact that we had the league's 4th richest owner and typically were anywhere from 1st to 4th in yearly attendance, yet in terms of payroll we constantly bounced around 13th-20th place. Every offseason and trade-deadline, we'd hear the same empty promise that "if the right deal is there, of course we're willing to increase payroll", but it never happened. From there, I think the final nail in the coffin came from the DeWitt family. When fans first started talking about not going to games to make a point to ownership, the DeWitts responded by saying that it wouldn't work, because if attendance decreased, they'll just decrease payroll to match.
Just an absolutely boneheaded response. The fans aren't dumb — when Cardinals fans showed out for decades, buying more tickets and merch than pretty much any other fanbase than the Yankees, that didn't help and result in higher payroll. The hypocrisy of essentially saying "If you don't do your part, we won't do ours" when ownership hasn't been holding up their end of the bargain for years wasn't lost on fans, and the drastic fallout in attendance since shows that the fans have had enough.
Ollie is not the Cardinals problem. What he’s doing with that lineup is respectable. He needs more talent on that roster.
As a former Twins fan, not going to games doesn't send a strong enough message.
Per capita STL is one of the best sports towns in America, period. Unfortunately, the city has been run by moorerahns for decades and there wont be any more NFL or NBA there. Cards' fans drew over 3.2M three years in a row without making the playoffs. What baseball city this size can do that other than STL?
The truth is, the franchise is right where it should be based on FO decisions. They built an empire at Ballpark Village while neglecting the big club and farm. Meanwhile, for years they sent Mozeliak out to gaslight the fan base and call for patience. When you run your business like Cracker Barrel oblivious to customer feedback, you get an empty stadium and a serious hit to your bottom line. Bill DeWitt III better wise up quickly and avoid another snarky PR blunder by laughing at his paying customers once again reminding them how smart they are, when in reality they've won a single playoff series over the past decade. The DeWitts need to stay in the shadows and let real baseball people run the operation.
The city will celebrate Mozeliak and Marmol's exit, and attendance will begin a methodical resurgence, IF Bill DeWitt III doesnt screw it up again.
I stopped giving a shit when they started pandering to black and gay people a few years ago.
St. Louis ranked third in crime. That’s not good..
St. Louis Cardinals fans are spoiled.. sincerely a Chicago White Sox fan.. 🙃🙃😒😒🤣🤣💯💯
St. Louis resident and life long cardinal fan here of 24 years. Mo and oli have got to go. And we need to make moves in pitching and at the plate. Everyone sucks. There is nothing to watch besides the opposing team. I love the young guys, don't get me wrong. The future looks bright, but the management is atrocious and they need to spend money.
I think they are trying for another wild card World Series like 2011. Field a team just good enough to make it to the play offs then pray they go all the way…. Also Oli sucks get yadi in there to manage
Same city that ran the Rams out of town then cried bloody murder when the owner actually moved the team🤣
The last good year we had were I actually felt the urge to watch a game. Was when yadi and puhols (totally spelled that wrong) we’re playing their last year with waino. I like some of our guys we have now but it does t help anything when I know how the office is handling the team. Makes me sad. I’m focused on my hockey. The blues are gonna kick ass this year. The cards ownership can suck my ass
Baseball is a fading sport, it's to boring
Attendance numbers are inflated due to season ticket holders. Unless the Cards add a spark to the lineup I would expect fewer season ticket holders and the numbers to drop even more. Long gone are Molina, Goldschmidt and Weinwright. Who are we paying top dollar to see now?
Until this team gets new ownership and and new field management nothing will change. Ownership got their "ball park village " and now they don't care about the awesome fan base here in St.louis!
Lowest attendance? What was 2020 then?
I would go to a bunch of cardinals games.. but I can't even think about going. It's way too expensive and so is everything else now so no money for anything fun anymore
It doesn't help that the economy is trash.
