  1. Tough L after the Happ homer. I’m a bit concerned about Daniel Palencia. But the Cubs only have to go 12-13 in September to win 90 games.

  2. I’ve said it for weeks, Palencia is not a closer. No control and melts down worse then hector neris and adbert combined

  3. I’m gonna focus on the Kyle Tucker chocolatey goodness, not the stale vending machine cookie that is Palencia

  4. Palencia is just not good in non save situations and on consecutive days. Once I saw him, I knew it was over.

  5. It was just the bottom of the 8th inning and I went to text someone important back and before I could even turn the game back on it was over

    Fuck

  6. Stop making non-save situation Palencia happen. It’s not gonna happen.

With a lead though, guy’s dynamite

  7. Another walk off loss. this fucking shit is inexcusable. that series should have been a blow out sweep and a rest for PCA. Instead we let them put up 7 runs in the first game, make it a 1 run butt clincher in last nights win, and now this. the team has lost any sense of identity

  8. With the ERAs of the pitchers going today, you gotta score more runs. The pitching has picked up the offense for two months now, it’s time to return the favor. Not much else really to say, the team is not consistent offensively and that is the reason for the mediocrity.

  9. When’s the last Boyd start the Cubs have won? Weird losing streak on his starts lately. At least there was life after going down three and the series was won.

  10. The season is 162 games long with every game having essentially equal value. We were slated to play the Rockies 6 times and went 5-1. The bitching and moaning is so tiring.

  11. 1. We just finished a 5-4 road trip in a time zone 2 hours behind Chicago’s

    2. We are in 1st place in the NL Wild Card

    3. We are 19 games over .500

    Things are just fine.

  12. It’s tough to sweep a major league team, let alone on the road.

I suppose this isn’t the place to say that though. This is a forum for doomerism. Cubs are washed. Will get bounced from playoffs in a record 1 game — the umps will just call it on the spot after the first game, awarding 2 additional games to the Phillies because of how awful the Cubs are at baseball. Jed Hoyer will be publicly spanked for having the gall to create a 95 win team.

  13. We wasted a perfect opportunity to gain ground on the brewers and create space from the padres.

  14. I still don’t understand not pinch hitting for Castro and Reese in the 9th. Guess I’m clueless.

  15. In the Cubs defense, they were facing an elite, once-in-a-lifetime talent on the mound today that is well known for his strikeout rate and pitching prowess.

And I am totally being sarcastic, if that really needs to be said.

  16. As an older fan I can say Cub fans have changed a lot since 2016. Used to be happy just to get to the playoffs. Now Cub fans seem to not be happy about anything.

  17. Thoughts after today’s game :

6-7 in one run games in August

13 out of 29 games were decided by 1 run

Finished 15-14 after starting off 5-8 in August

Went 5-4 on a west coast trip that is never easy, no matter what team you play

This team can go 12-13 in their final 25 games and still win 90 games.

9 games up in the WC with 25 games
    left to play.

Enjoy a meaningful September month of baseball for the first time in years and get ready to see Cubbies playoff baseball for the first time since 2020.

    Things will be OK, guys.

  18. I’m local to CO, so I was only able to listen to the game. Really don’t like them putting Palencia into these situations. Misusing your closer this late in the season is not a good strategy.

  19. That sucked ass but I’m going to stand up, take off my cubs hat and go out for a nice meal with friends where this won’t be discussed

  20. The Rockies have improved since their bad season start.  They certainly want to play decently in front of their fans, too.

  21. Just getting back on track after that. I don’t care how high leverage the situation, I’m a firm believer in not bringing in the closer in non save situations.

  22. Sorry guys – took my kid to the game in Denver today. We will skip all future Cubs games in town.
