D-backs vs. Dodgers Game Highlights (8/31/25) | MLB Highlights
On this Sunday afternoon, they’re giving away Kik Hernandez bobblehead. And Kik not in the lineup today. Still got some action. He caught the first pitch from his daughter Penelope just a minute ago. Perfect strike. That was right around this time. One week ago, we were talking about the same thing. Yoshino Yamamoto needing to be the stopper. He was against the Padres’s. They last him to do the same today. A curve is swatted up the middle of the Muki bat for the first down of the ball game. Dodgers a game and a half ahead of the Padres’s after San Diego loses two of three to Minnesota. Two games back of the Phillies for the two seed they play tonight. Two outs, bases empty, no score. Off the end of the bat, left center field. Andy Pah finishes off a one, two, three, first inning for Yamamoto. Here come the Dodgers. Otani leads off. Bats then Freeman. No Will Smith or Tios Oscar Hernandez today’s Otani smacks on drive. Base hit to right center. Leadoff hit. Shoi Otani. Shoi gets a chance on this pitch to extend his arms and down there a low fast ball just kind of golfs it off a pitch that was slightly below his knees. Well, the Dodgers have scored just three runs against FA this year and off of three solo home runs. And the reason I bring that up now is that this man here hit two of them. Base hit it the other way. Backto back singles to open the game. Good sign for Muki bats hitting a pitch that was away the other way. So Muki now with hits in 18 of his last 23 games batting above 330 in that stretch. First and second, nobody out. Freddy Freeman can Freddy Freeman in the heart of the order is does in the air to center field over Thomas bounces off the wall. Otani rounds and heads home. It’s a ringing double from Freddy Freeman and a resounding start for the Dodgers. his 544th double. He was tied with Tony Gwyn with the double last night and now he moves in front of Tony Gwyn to 35th all time. First time this weekend the Dodgers have had three hits in an inning. Winner three batters in. Boy, this thing’s got all kinds of English on triggers a throw quickly to get Pah, but Betts comes in to score. Two to nothing. To the top of the third we go. Yamamoto delivers to Alec Thomas. got him swinging. Blew a fast ball by him at 97. One out, nobody on. Two nothing Dodgers. Here’s Jordan Lawler to right center and Alex call for Randy Pahz. It’s called well Tyler Glass now was perfect through three yesterday. Yamamoto would try to do the same. McCarthy lays down a bunt. Yamamoto pounces over there to get it and guns a fast ball to first. He’s retired on nine that he’s faced. Top of the order for the Diamondbacks. Yamamoto back to work. perfect once through the lineup and wow just carves him up. One of the best hitters in the league in the second half and he’s up there looking like he’s never done this before. One gone in the fourth and now back home with an 01 to the All-Star Marte shows Bunt lays it down left side and it’s a bunt hit for the first base runner of the game for the Diamondbacks. Is this deep enough into the game where that’s a bad look or is that just playing the game? It’s playing the game. It’s early. It’s only a two nothing game. That is fine. And there are a few booze from the stands as the first hit is a bunt. Dodgers are playing the correct defense if he was swinging fully, but yeah, that that’s playing baseball. Corbin Carroll sends it to center. He’s got a base hit and the Diamondbacks have something going. Two on and one out now for Bla1 Alexander. Just cannot lay off that split. It is a deadly weapon out there. That’s Yamamoto’s fifth strikeout. Let’s see if ADC can catch up to one here. They’re making them work a little bit more. Second time through this lineup. Del Castillo hammers it into right. Tim Bogar waving Marte home. Corbin’s into third. Adrien Del Castillo gets the Diamondbacks on the board. Their third hit in this fourth inning. Oh, you got a four seam fast ball up in the strike zone. I think that’s going to be the key with these younger guys. Look for something up. Easier said than done when he’s got six or seven pitches, but if you eliminate that bottom part of that strike zone, that’ll keep you away from that split finger down. So it’s two to one and Tyler Lleier comes up with a tying run at third and the go-ahead run aboard strikes him out with the splitter to finish off the inning. Diamondbacks get one but strand two Dodgers two. Diamondbacks one. Bottom of the fourth. Here’s Freeland to left field base hit. That snaps the O for 17 for Alex Freeland. And Alex Freeland after he rounded first stopped, held his palms to the sky and looks to the sky zip to say thank you for that hit. Two on, two out. Rojos at the plate. Dodgers trying to get the lead in the division. Back to two games. Base hit right field. Miguel Rohos. No chance at home. Carl is off and running with the crack of the bat. He scores. A two out RBI single from Rohas. Two, three, and four for the Dodgers coming up here against Brandon Fox. Flips it into left center field. It is going to jump in for a base hit. Muki got his bat to it. And there’s a perfect example of what we’ve talked about with him. When he feels like it’s natural for him and things are lined up, he knows no matter what, he’s still going to find a way to chip in a hit or two a day. And Freeman hits it up the middle off the mound. Fielded by Purdomo to his left. He’s up and throwing. What a play by Heraldo Peromo to take a hit away from Freddy Freeman. I’ll tell you what, we talk about it so many different times. At this level, folks, this game is at a different level. It looks easy to play. Everybody thinks they could play the game. Not to that level. Mookie did advance to second on the play. So one out for Andy Pah to left and a base hit. McCarthy’s up with it. Here’s his throw to the play. No chance to get Mookie back. Andy Pahz has knocked in his second run of the day and extended his hitting streak to seven games in the process. Eight strikeouts over six innings for Yamamoto today. Just one run on three hits. to go back to his start against these guys in late May. And his last two games, 17 strikeouts over 13 innings, one run on four hits. Vbeck’s going to take their swings against Yamamoto in the top of the seventh. Strikes him out on three pitches, nine of them for the second straight start against Arizona. Guess what pitch? Splitter. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Got him with the curve. That’s double digits now for Yamamoto. You’re looking for the splitter? Try this one on for size. The hook. Two outs. Thomas. Thomas sprays the ball to left field. Kik comes in. He dives and he makes the catch. A head first grab by Kik Hernandez in left field. And all the fans who are happy to be here on his bobblehead night rise to their feet to celebrate that play. Base hit from Marte. Pass the diving beds. back to back two out hits and the Diamondbacks get the tying run to the plate. Yeah. So, if this is a playoff game right now, you’re thinking, okay, Tanner Scott’s our guy and boy, who’s behind him right now, you know, is this really the ninth and he’s the last guy and there’s not going to be anybody warming up behind him. A chance for Corbin. Diamondbacks with two outs. Have the tying run at the plate in the eighth inning against a tough left-hander in Tanner Scott. guys. It’s got some carry to it deep left center field and it is gone. Corbin Carol goes the other way and we are tied in Los Angeles. He’s done it again. Scott retires the first two. A soft single from Perommo, a single from Marte and a homer from Carol. Smith will pinch it for Dton rushing the lead off the bottom of the ninth in a 4-4 game. hits this one in the air left center field. Game over. Pinch hit walk-off. Will Smith. Will Smith captain clutch with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Will Smith off of the bench to give the Dodgers a much needed win. They avoid the sweep.

Dave needs to fking remove scott in an ending inning seriously
Dodgers Win Finally!🎉🎉🎉
Will Smith slapped that ball harder than Chris Rock!
sweet
What's wrong with pitcher😅
Padres sleeper agent Tanner Scott sabotaging the team yet again!
Yama should be 15-6
Roberts tells the press way too much. Keep it in the clubhouse and dugout.
똥이 야마모토의 승리를 망쳐났네
Wow! Will! Captain Cluth! 🤩
Not a single reliable relief pitcher on Dodgers side it's something to worry about
Tanner Blowout Scott
Go Dodgers ❤
Yankees' Aaron Judge has overcome injuries and has been hitting home runs, and he seems likely to take first place in both the RBI and home run categories. I hope Shohei Ohtani also hits home runs and sweeps various awards in the remaining 25 games of the regular season. Let's go Dodgers!
Yamamoto just can't buy a win from this team lmao.
See what happens when you take teo out the field … Scott doesn’t belong in the rotation come post season
Yates needs to bee gone too dodgers have to stop getting these old pitchers .
The Dodgers' front office and coaching staffs should be fired.
Yamamoto with a gem performance
Tanner Scott in the 8th inning said F that
Sitting in 7TD today, the way the mood swung was something.
My buddy sitting next to me had to hold himself back because there were kids, otherwise, he would've really went off 😬
Thank goodness for Will Smith saving LA's bacon today
LFG panda mañana finally 😅
So many have criticized the Dodgers play of late. They are 6-4 over the past ten games which is equal to or better than all the other first place teams:Brewers 5-5, Phillies 6-4, Blue Jays 5-5, Tigers 5-5, Astros 6-4. The Dodgers will be all right and will repeat as World Series Champions.
Scott is a spy from Padres?
스캇은 진짜 답이없네
And how many games did AZ win in the series? LA with its deep pockets, and AZ with shallow pockets. I quit following MLB after SF, and now LA buys their championships by outbidding others. No salary caps like NFL. What a joke!
Will Smith to Chris Rock 🫵🏻👋🏻😤
Once again, the D-Backs fight back to go for a win, only to have it ruined by the bullpen. They should not throw so many right down the middle…😮
LA🎉🎉🎉
대출을 축소시키니까 이제는 총량이 아니라 이자차익을 늘려서 먹으려고..와 진짜 은행들 장난하냐? 매년 수조원씩 이익을 보면서 어쩜 그러냐..
The Los Angeles Dodgers are 78-59🔵⚪️🔴⚾️
Yamamoto should of only pitched 5 innings the bullpen should being warming up on the 4th inning and it doesn't matter how many pitches Yamamoto has made to inning 5 he needs to be taken out. Ahian there is no need to over work a starting pitcher when the team has a good bullpen dave Roberts is a terrible and needs to be replaced
those dodgers offseason signings have not done much this season.
Before Roberts blamed Scott for erasing Yamamoto's 12th win and his third of the season, he made another mistake.
With two outs in the eighth inning and runners on first and second, it was clear to everyone that Carroll was aiming for a home run!
A bad feeling can be deadly!
He should have made a pitching change to maintain Scott's confidence and pride.
Roberts' decision to send Smith in instead of Rushing should be praised more for Smith's walk-off home run.
4:08-Six-seven😂😂😂
What A Great Victory For The Dodgers
that was clutch of Will Smith
Yamamoro pitched well, and Dodgers won.
I am satisfied with that😆
Way to go Will!! Go Dodgers!!
This is a terrible recap of this close game. Top of the ninth, first two Arizona batters out. The third batter has played ten games and has NO hits. Why didn’t they use a pinch hitter? Bottom of the ninth, the Dodgers use a pinch hitter for their first batter, Smith. If the DB manager had any baseball strategy, he would do an intentional walk for Smith. This would be brilliant and humorous. So,the next Dodgers batter could, get walked (unintentionally), hit into a double play, or get thrown out at first. The next batter would have been Shohei Ohtani – just walk him. Deal with the next batter and bases situation.
Obviously this scott clown is not helping the situation in la
Tanner Scott does what he does best'.."NOTHING"!!! Dodgers need to get rid of him, and No-hit Conforto and the Strike-out King Teoscar hernandez!!!!
MLB buried this so I'm assuming dodgers lost.
