Eagles Press Conference: Jalen Hurts | August 31, 2025
How you doing? Good. Good. Hey Jaylen, with uh you and Nick Sriani, how is your relationship grown over the last year? Just grown day by day. We obviously y’all both of us love to work, love hard work, have a ton of grit to ourselves, and we’re passionate about that and um we express that through our work. So I think it’s been able to grow and evolve and be good. how much work goes into it that we obviously don’t get to see. There’s a lot of work that everyone doesn’t see um in any and everything. Um but it’s um it’s it’s about the collective about the collective that collective. Um Jaylen Nick always preaches sustained success as he you know enters the season. You guys have had a pretty significant degree of that. Is there something as your fifth years as a starters, something that’s resonated that has enabled you as a group to have that sustained success? Yeah. Yeah. I think it’s it’s just the mentality that’s preached and I think it’s the lessons learned over time. You know, I think all of us in this building have learned a ton of lessons throughout our journeys here and I know coachi can speak to that. I can speak to that. As a unit, we can speak to that. And as a unit, we’ve evolved and been able to find different ways to win on both sides of the ball. And so that’s what it’s about, really being able to remain a sponge, remain diligent and everything and learn from all of your experiences. That’s how you grow. Uh question about the new guys coming in. Um I mean last year afforded you guys some instant credibility for, I don’t know, buy in and whatnot. What did you see in terms of that? Uh with new guys coming in and the buyin in terms of what you guys were trying Who are you talking about? new new players that weren’t a part of last year, whether it’s rookies or otherwise. What did you see? Yeah. Well, speaking on this year, you know, you don’t know what the iteration of the team will be until you get out there and you get into some live and live bullets on live fire, if you will. And so, um, you know, we try and establish a good thing and try and, you know, obviously try and set the right example and try and work really hard, um, to to set that example. Um, ultimately, you know, it it takes the togetherness and it takes the kind of evolution of just learning from everything that we go through as a team. And so that’s the exciting part about embarking on a new journey is it’s a new group and it’ll be a new iteration of of of what this team is. Think back to last December, you made a comment that the offense might not look the way people wanted it to look, but it’s going to look the way Jaylen Herz wants it to look. Um, as as you kind of grown in your career, how have you made it your offense, you know, because obviously you’re the constant despite all the changes. Yeah, just being that I think just being present. just being present and exam examining my game and saying how can I evolve and how can I grow yet number one maintaining a main priority and so that’s that’s what the objective has always been it’s always been that and it’s um it’s going to continue to be that regardless of how it how it looks as a team we just want to go out there and play efficient football go out there and play efficient football and find ways to score more points than the other side it takes a collective group effort effort from the outside looking in we you’ve always known uh I guess to be confident, but are you more authoritative with your voice because you know five years in you’ve built that type of equity here? I think I think you know it’s just like equity. I think that’s a great word that comes in time in anything. You know you let it sit there, you saturate, you learn and you do grow and you evolve as a person. So I think that’s been a natural maturation for me. I’ve always spoke about how experience is the biggest teacher. I’ve said that since I was a rookie when I didn’t have the experience as a pro quarterback and now the experience has definitely added up. Um, and there’s still more out there to go do and accomplish ultimately. Um, it’s just about being a student. You know, I’ve had all these coaches every single year and I’ve been able to take so much from each one and that’s those are the things that I lean on as a player and I lean on that and then I lean on how can I apply that to whomever the OC is. And so it’s just um you know it’s just a a process that I’ve had to put myself through. But ultimately as a team collectively um finding ways to do that and be successful as a offense and you know it doesn’t matter how it looks to me. I just want to go out there and find ways to win and play efficient football and um you know push it push the needle. You’ve been on you’ve been on some great teams and won championships and you really can you visibly feel or physically feel or v visibly see when a team is coming to play a team that won a championship or that was really good that that you’re getting their agame because of that. Well, it’s it’s u it’s NFL, you know, it’s a competitive league. So, it’s it’s that I mean I have that mentality the mentality of going out there and competing and trying to compete at that level. um you know every time I step on the field and everyone should have that mentality you know and kind of keep it that way that should grow and evolve as you as you grow. In your experience week one versus I don’t know week eight week 10 a lot of unscouted looks I imagine a lot of they have a new defensive coordinator. How much is that different just coming in week one versus later in the season? Um, can you say that again? I’m sorry. Uh, week one game there’s a lot of uncertainty. They they just traded Micah. They have a new defensive coordinator. How does that different from, say, when you have a bunch of tape on a team, whether it’s week eight, week 10, or is it similar for you? You know, that all those things come into consideration, but there’s still so much unknown. So, you don’t know. ultimately got to trust the technique and trust the fundamentals that you’ve been practicing, you know, all summer and all all uh camp to this point and just go out there and play clean football. How’s Cowboys giving up without going out there and trying to prepare to to play a really good team as is and um focus on that? We talk about identity. It seems like that’s something that presents itself at a certain point, but when you guys have had success doing certain things, is there a temptation to lean in on those things? Um, yeah, whatever whatever it takes to win. I think I think definitely yeah, whatever it takes to win ultimately we follow the direction in the head of the coaches and so whatever direction they lead us in, that’s what we do and we evolve if needed. you know, it’s kind of like you escalated if it needs to be escalated, but you know, we just uh we don’t know who we are right now, you know, so we just want to go in and uh have a good really good week of prep and go out there and try and establish what we want to be. I know you don’t want to look back last year, but you guys finished in that postseason where you were a really powerful scorer and I think 36 points a game offense. Can can you take from that into this season? Is there there things that you can take from what you were doing when you were on that run and and build off it into the season? It’s a new It’s a new season. It’s a new season. It’s a new journey. So, who knows? I asked Nick earlier this morning about what he’s emphasizing with playerled leadership. Um, he talked about habits and I think that’s a constant thing he’s kind of talked about the last couple years, but how does he emphasize habits? How do you embrace that? What are habits that work for you? Well, um, when you said Nick, it made me really, the thing that he’s been preaching a lot is contribution over credit and, uh, the old sense of, you know, it doesn’t it doesn’t really matter how it gets done, you know, just a matter of getting it done, you know, as a team and and really buying into that collective. And so, I think he’s had a habit of saying that. he’s had a habit of saying that to try and go to that next level, it requires something more of yourself. And so I think he’s done a really good job from a message standpoint and as a team we just have to continue to um you know kind of be all in on that and follow his lead when you hear him say that over and over about contribution, what do you reflect on? I reflect on trying to find a way to win and it m it not mattering how it looks. How how often how often does uh Nick mention Larry Carris to you and have you ever talked to Larry and said I talked to him and he just talked about what a great player you thought you were from the outset. Have you ever had a conversation with him about his thoughts on offense? Um, it’s like three questions, but Well, I mean, we um, you know, we got the Cowboys this week, so trying to let’s kind of redirect ourselves back. I know we kind of light today, but um, can I get one of those, please? What? Oh, I don’t have Mike. What do you think about the Cowboys? Well, the the Cowboys are they’re a really good team. A really good team. um obviously got a got a got a unit on the other side of the ball too and that um uplifts them in in a number of ways defensively. You know, with coach having a new defensive coordinator, you don’t really know what iteration he’s going to put out there on the field. And so it just comes down to kind of playing fast and playing clean football. Um obviously the defensive backs are really good. Got a really tight-knit front seven group playing with Kenneth Murray. I’m very familiar with him and their safeties. They’ve been there a very very long time. So, um they got a really good they got a really good group and um they’ve always been able to find ways to be disruptive and so that’s something that is on top of mind. Thanks.

All Business. No grinning. Doesn't suffer fools… Just listen to how careful they are when asking him questions. He's trained them to be respectful.
As a Man, I can see the marriage in his energy.
Jalen demeanor changed so much from training camp. He is in season mode no nonsense
Jalen is really evolving. He's more engaged with the press. He's comfortable and not as guarded. THE LEAGUE IS IN TROUBLE!🦅💪🏿

The game is slowing down for him. These next few years we'll see the best of jalen.
I agree. Appreciate how he learns from his mistakes, on and off the field. Stays humble and teachable. Which is 1 of the most important attribute an pro athlete should be or have. If they desire to be the best they can.
I got Jalen / Barkley and Elliot on my fantasy team that's named Philly special 🔥
Go COWBOYS!!!
These reports irk me with the type of questions they ask Jalen. Always asking about relationships with his head coach, mentality mumbo jumbo. I wished they asked the QB more of the approach to attacking the upcoming week's defense. They make it seem like it's a soap opera, my goodness! They don't even know what they are asking half the time.
Larry who… The media asks some off the wall questions… Does anybody know what that's about near the end
Any questions about the up coming game???????
I’m sure he didn’t mean to, but it’s hilarious that he laughed when he said the the Cowboys are a really good team 😭
Our QB1 – L 🦅VE HURTS!!!!!!!!!! Let's GOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Back 2 Back!!

I have no idea why these reporters ask the darndest things and repeat the same question every press conference in a different way…. unbelievable.
Contribution Over Credit 🔥🔥🔥🔥
He always wants a question about that week’s opponent. Man studied all week, he’s ready for those questions about the game.
He is not speaking in fortune cookie any more
Go birds
Everyone in the league wishes they had this QB !
Drew Bree’s in the pocket
