Ranger vs. D-backs Game Highlights (9/1/25) | MLB Highlights
From Chase Field in Phoenix, it’s the Texas Rangers against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Game one of a three-game series. On the mound in this one, right-hander Ryan Nelson. Seven and three this year. This will be his 19th start that he makes. Very good at home. As we said, he’s 5-1 with a 242 erra. Here’s the two-2 pitch now from Nelson. And Langford takes strike three call 97 with a paintbrush. and he knew it too. Great location down and in and not really where Gabby was set up, but he got the ball in the zone. Got the call. Two outs. Nobody on the 3-2 pitch. Peterson tried to check his swing. He could not down on strikes. The inning is over. And for Ryan Nelson, he strikes out two in a one, two, three. Top of the first. The Rangers will be going with Patrick Corbin on the hill today, who pitched here from 2012 to 2018 and won 56 games, more than half his career total as a member of the Diamondbacks. You can tell Marte, a Ranger killer, leads things off against the lefty Patrick Corbin, hitting .291, fifth in the league, 23 home runs, two of them coming at the Rangers expense. Marte gets it in the air way back and there it goes. It’s a leadoff homer for Catel off the upper deck and gone. That’s how you start a ball game right there. That’s 441 ft. It left the bat at 112 m anph. Was an off speed pitch. A change up that Patrick Corbin left in the middle of the strike zone. And Catel just knocked the living daylights out of that one. What a start for Catel and this Diamondback offense. That’ll get the offense going. Bernovo trying to follow up and they go back to back. Well, it’s Hondo rodeo night here tonight. They just lasso themselves a couple of home runs. Oh boy. How about 417 for Domo? That’s Jerry’s 16. Backto back pitches, backto back bombs. I mean, another just shot. That one just jumped right off his barrel. Just shot out of here. Just a line drive. And so far an awful homecoming for Patrick Corbin. Really cool moment at Chase Field. They just played a video tribute to Mel Kelly. He returns to the only major league place he had called home prior to getting traded to the Rangers saluting the crowd and a special moment for the Rangers. Righty Corbin’s bounced back after the two leadoff home runs. Patrick set down five in a row to Tyler Lley. 25 games since he was acquired from the Mariners at the trade deadline. trying to get it going. Remember, he had a home run against the Rangers when we were there in Arlington, Texas last month. Llear hits a highf fly ball to center. It’s got some carry to it and it’s gone. Tyler Lleair, three homers in eight batters in a three nothing lead. Good for him. He needed that. He sure did. Oh, slider that just kind of spun up there on the outer third of the plate about belt high. Locker put a nice swing on. Rangers trying to chip away at a early three to nothing Diamondbacks lead. Kyle Hagashi will lead it off. Hagashi right center field. Carol unable to get there. First base runner for the Rangers in career hit 300 for Kyle Hagashio. So Hagashi on board as Cody Freeman stands in. Freeman perhaps not getting the results he’d like, but man oh man, it seems like every at bat’s a good one. And he gives this one a ride to left field. Gurio back track wall out of here. Second career home run for Cody Freeman. The Rangers back to within a run. It’s a no doubter for Freeman. Fast ball at 95. We talked about how difficult it is to get on top of this Nelson fast ball. He keeps that barrel high. Hits the top of it and he backspins this one out of here to left. Here’s Michael Helman who has been on a tear of late. That one caught Ryan Lawler bare hand play and he made another beauty. They get the out is Nelly. Okay. Oh, Jordan Lawler charging in from third once more. Nelly limping around a little bit out there. Access Pazto, the athletic trainer, hustling out there to have a look. Left the bat at 100 miles an hour right off the leg. Another great play by Jordan Lawler to get the out and we just hope that Ryan’s okay. Well, Nelson, one tough customer. He’s going to stay in this game. Walk to Freeman. First base on ball issued by Nelly and the Rangers have two on and one out. Ryan Nelson, 70 pitches, 47 strikes at this point. He’s walked one, struck out five. We do have the number nine man at the plate. Jumps on the first one. That’s the fast ball. Martee’s under it. Infield fly in effect. And that’s the second out. One pitch, one out. And if you’re a pitching coach, makes you feel like a genius after a mount visit. It certainly does. Top of the order now at Josh Smith. And the one two Smith swing and a foul tip. It is held on by Moreno. He is down on strikes and a big time strike out for Nelson as he strands a pair. And we go to the bottom of the fifth. Halftime in the desert right now. The Dbacks lead Texas 3-2. Ryan Nelson 75 pitches through five. 51 strikes and Wyatt Langford 0 for two. Starts off the Rangers sixth. Langford nearly homered last time. This one is smacked to left field. It’s back and it’s out of here. A game tying drive for Wyatt. He just missed a home run last time by like two feet. This time Nelson went in and Wyatt turned on. Yeah, he doesn’t miss it this time around. Fast ball in the mid 90s. He didn’t quite know if he got it. Hustling to first base. Wyatt’s got big time pop, man. So, it’s empty the tank time for Nelly. Get in there and get TZ. He struck him out the last time. TZ 0 for two. Lays Alexander. Oh, what a catch. His first game in center field. And it’s a spectacular grab by Blaze, but he is down for the count. He is still down in left center. It’s Goreiel. Goreel went behind him to back up the play. And Lurtis is hurt. Lurtis. Goreel down near the warning track. I think Lis it looked like was able to get out of the way. May have landed awkwardly in an effort to get out of the way. Oh yeah, right there. Yep. When he jumped off up that foot. Very awkward. And he’s hurting. Well, as you can see, Lurtis Goreel Jr. got up to his feet. They have a card out there for him, but Lurtis, as you can see, distraught. Max has Pizzo, the athletic trainer, accompanies Goreel back as they’ll make their way through the tunnel and into the clubhouse. And take a look at Lurtis. 90 pitches for Patrick Corbin. 56 strikes. He’s allowed only four hits, but three have been solo home runs. The 23rd stolen base now for Carol. And for Blaze, nobody at second. You got a clean sight pitcher, batter’s eye, just get something you can handle. Put a good swing on it. That’s a fair ball. He shoots it down the right field line. Lays Alexander into second and Blaze on that sore leg going to get third. Four to three Diamondbacks. First career triple for Bla1 Alexander. Bruce Bochi out to the mound. That’s going to be it for Patrick Corbin who pitched a fairly solid game tonight but will leave trailing 43 in the sixth. Right. Ander Jacob Webb, his 48th appearance, a free agent sneige by the Rangers in to face Gabrielle Moreno. Blaze Alexander after the RBI triple down there at third. Chance to tack on one more here for Gabby Moreno down the line. That’s a fair ball. Another extra base hit and another diamond back run. It’s five to three. Base hit here, base hit there, an extra base hit. And before you know it, they put a couple of points on the board. So the Rangers still have the tying run at the plate. guy who walked it off for the Rangers when they beat the Diamondbacks in Arlington. Jake Burgerer fresh off the IIL activated today and he comes up in a big spot in the top of the ninth. Yeah, big moment. First pitch swinging line drive up the alley right center field. Garcia is running very gingerly around the bases. The ball rattles around. Garcia’s being waved home. Burger going to third and there’s no play. The Rangers are within a run and Burger able to get all the way to third. and an RBI triple to make it a one-run game. He’s standing at third base as the tying run with one out. And the new pitcher on to the Diamondback bullpen, the right-hander Jake Woodford. So now it’s in the hands of a man who hit his second career home run earlier tonight, Cody Freeman. He’s thrown him four straight sweepers. The two- two. Another one lined to right field. Falling for a hit. This game is tied. Cody Freeman comes up big in the ninth. Wow. You talk about some late inning magic here. It all started with Dylan Moore. Jake Burgerer had a huge atbat and now Cody Freeman. This game is tied at five. Big at bat. Vargas comes up with Moreno at first and one out on the ground at third. Could be two. Young to the bag for one. Durant first double play. Martin faces the minimum. We’ve got bonus baseball here in the desert. Gamesaving play by Purdomo. Instead of bases loaded, one out, you’ve got runners at second and third and two outs. Those 13 for 87 this year. That’s a 149 average. Line drive off of Bergos and that’s rolling to the dugout. Rangers take the lead. Here comes Durant. Throw to the plate. The dive. He’s out. Durant immediately pointing to the dugout. He scores. So two runs come in and the Rangers now lead it seven to five. Rangers scored two in the ninth to tie it, two in the 10th to take the lead. Trying to steal a victory in the desert. On the ground, Durant to first. Ball game. Rangers come from behind. They get the win to start the series and they move to within a game and a half of the third wild card spot.

So far that was the game of the year for the Rangers imo. Huge win. Keep this thang rolling Texas!
Rangers currently playing the best baseball and look the most deserving to be in the playoffs of the 4 teams within 5 games of each other for the last WC spot. If they can really get hot and stay hot down the home stretch, they can possibly even catch Houston, although the Houston series against Seattle is really a lose-lose scenario for the Rangers in terms of being able to rise to first place in the division as they are still currently looking up at both teams in the standings. Even though it would likely crush their AL West chances, an Astros sweep of the Mariners would be the most desirable outcome for the Rangers overall playoff chances in terms of the WC.
GG
My boys are fighting!!! Very proud
Dbacks why ๐ข
The Diamondbacks bullpen is so badโฆ
Salty runback denied by the Rangers.
Maybe they really do have the Diamondbacks' number.

Iโm glad Lourdes got hurt
Corbin allowed 3 homers in one inning ๐๐ worst nightmare for a pitcher
I'm still in disbelieve, Ds couldn't seal the win in 9th with 2 outs ๐ฎ into tie ๐
To start the inning. Why do you go with a situational LHP to face 3 Right Handed batters. You are setting your self up for failure.
Happy Labor Day. End of regular baseball season is near. 2023 World Series rematch from Arizona this time
Rangers are rolling watch out Mariners their coming.
Dry air in Arizona tonight let the ball carry.
Petition to change the term: closers to: Gameblowers. Jesus Christ. none of these dudes justify their salary in the vast majority of teams…

Rangers are so bad. Cant believe they are winning.
๐ช๐ช๐ชโฆ. Thatโs some good base running Rangers , Good win Boys
D-backs bullpen should be ashamed of themselves. It's just so so bad.
So the umpires can just reverse a call without a challenge? What's the point of a challenge then?? They really just need robotic umps at this point.
