  1. What is that like a day by day thing or a short IL stint…. Please

    Edit. Sorry I didn’t mean to sound like a jerk. Just upset we lost him for a while. I know what a rupture is

  2. What’s the timeline for an injury like that? he definitely won’t be back this season but maybe next season? Either way feel bad for him

  3. I have no idea what that means but a rupture doesn’t sound good at all. Definitely praying for him.

  4. Ok guys…Adams out in crazy fashion and suddenly can’t win a game….my Padres doominess is starting to creep in…

  5. Quadriceps Tendon Tear

    Typical Recovery Time:

    * **Partial tears:** 4-6 months
    * **Complete tears:** 6-12 months

    Opening day 2026 is a little under 7 months away. So realistically All-star break next year is my guess on when he’ll be back. Adam’s last year of Arbitration is next year 2026. So it would be his last year under team control.

    P.S. Not a doctor.

  6. Holy shit. All of a sudden there is a possibility that this guy pitched his last game as a Padre. That’s tough man.
    Wish him a good recovery, and hopefully he’ll be able to return to a sold out Petco park once more!

  7. 6-12 months for recovery, depending on how bad the tear is, he’ll need surgery.

    Most likely won’t see him until 2027.

    Speedy recovery, Jason.

  8. Done for the year. If it popped, then it must have been a complete tear, requiring surgery. And from Dr Google:  For athletes, return to sport is governed by passing sport-specific functional tests, and while some younger, athletic individuals may recover in 5-8 months, others, particularly older patients or those with prior knee issues, may need up to 18 months.

  9. He’s had so many injuries. This is a big one and might be his career. Glad he made 5 million this year he earned it and then some.

  10. This one is very variable depending on where it ruptured, which tendon, partial vs complete, surgery or no surgery.

    I had a partial tendon tear on an abductor in my late 40s. Sounded like a gunshot, couldn’t crawl much less walk afterwards, big purple bruise. No surgery, aggressive rehab, I was shockingly back doing sports (wrestling, mma, and running) in four months. And Adams is absolutely in better shape for recovery than I was.

    The bad news is I have had niggling posterior chain injuries on that side ever since (yes, posterior despite it being an abductor). And pitching puts a lot of stress in the body that can induce those kinds of niggles.

  11. How in the world did that happen? The replay didn’t look like anything major happened. This really sucks 🙁

  12. Damn. Such a random injury. I hope he recovers quickly. The team needs to rally around this and focus on locking in and finishing this season strong.
