Rich Eisen’s Pick to Win the AFC West Is…? C’Mon…Like You Don’t Already Know

All right, it’s time to predict the American Football Conference Western Division. Uh TJ, we’ll give you first up since you’re licking your wounds the most. TJ, I’m hurt, son. I’m hurt. Predicting the AFC West, sir. AFC West, I got to I’m going to preface this by saying this was the toughest division so far. And I do believe all of these teams, guys, are going to finish with a winning record. Okay, but that being said, someone’s got to fall into each number. So Jay Felly, I told you earlier, I don’t mean any disrespect to Raider Nation, but I got you guys coming in fourth. But again, I think your season’s going to be pretty decent. What a jerk. I got the Chargers third, the Broncos second, and until, you know, Patrick Mahomes doesn’t exist anymore on the football field. I’m sticking with the Chiefs. Chargers third. Huh. Yeah. But again, like I I think this is going to be a very tight division. I think three of these teams are probably going to make the playoffs. Christopher, I have a feeling I’m not going to like any of your answers. I would agree. You know, I I you know, TJ, you and I are a lock step. I give, excuse me, the exact same thing. Uh the Raiders, I think, are going to be better than people think, but they’re not going to be as good as the other three teams ahead of them. Uh the Chargers, I I have them third. I don’t I don’t love the Rashan Slater injury and I’m just wondering who else is going to catch the ball. I know that Keenan Allen Allen’s there, but he’s 34 years old. Uh we know we know DD is awesome. really excited for Omari and Hampton, but they’re not quite as good as Denver, who is not quite as good as Kansas City. I still think this is a Chiefs, though. I don’t think they’re going 15-2 again. I will tell you this, I am toying with the idea of the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl. I’ve got to come up with this for Tuesday’s NFL game day morning season kickoff show on Friday on Tuesday night at 8 Eastern time. It’s never a stretch toying with no Chiefs winning the division. I have Harbaugh and the Chargers finishing second. Okay, Keenan Allen’s back and I I’m I’m I’m I am concerned about Rashan Slater, but when they drafted Joe Alt, he was a left tackle. Yeah, I get it. He was doing great in one. I get it. You know, so that you think they have that. And and Denver I I I you know, I’m excited. We’re talking to Shawn Payeyton next Tuesday. He thinks they can win the Super Bowl. You can win the Super Bowl from finishing third if you’re a wild card team going on a run. Sure. And I think your Raiders will be toying with the idea of making the playoffs at some point this season. This Okay, this season. Thank you. Of course, dude. You know how I feel about Pete here. You know how I feel about Pete. Neat to see it. They got a lot to prove. They got a lot of proven guys. Offensive line’s a little shaky, right? And and the line we came up with the other day, uh Ashton Genty, he’s going to be terrific, but he’s going from Boise to men. It’s pretty good. It’s a pretty good line. Didn’t we said that the other day cuz I missed that. No, no, no. It’s coming. It’s coming. It’s coming. We We recorded the Overreaction Monday podcast for Monday. I like that. It’s coming. Boise to men. Yeah. The next Overreaction Monday podcast is dropping on on Labor Day. Hopefully the end of the road is a long way down on the fly. Rich came up with that on the on the spot. Well, slayed me. That’s what he does. I know. I get it. Smile as he thought of it. He was very proud. You watch the overreaction Monday podcast on our YouTube page on Monday or get it wherever you get your podcast. I almost walked off the set. I was so proud of that. It was really good. I almost mic dropped and walked off the set. Did you hear how I I ended that for you though? Hopefully the end of the road for Genty is way No, it’s I didn’t get that. End of the road. Now we’ve come trying to show me

Rich Eisen predicts how the AFC West will shake out this season among the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders.

  1. The Chargers are too cheap to win. That's the real 2-3 discussion here. They lose Bosa and….your sack leader is at 8.5 now. The Broncos are not over-hyped, it's just shut up and dance hour and the Charges as usual have been quieter all off-season than even the Steelers. Keenan Allen is a story…really?

  2. If the Chiefs break the Supe loser hangover streak, they'll deserve all the kudos, but Rich is ignoring some serious precedent. Even the Chiefs aren't immune. (See '21)

  3. Chiefs
    Raiders
    Broncos
    Chargers

Easily the best coaching division in the league which makes this really hard to choose. But don’t think Chargers have enough weapons and are one Ladd injury away from having nothing. I really like Bo Nix but I think it’s a natural progression for most rookie QBs to struggle a bit year 2 with more film on them, and offensive weapons are lacking a bit

  4. I love how the broncos are being hyped despite the fact that they didn't beat anybody significant last year and then got dog walked in the playoffs. They're going to suck this year, you heard it here first.

  5. Listen, the Chiefs were trash for decades. I'll wait for the wave to crash and them to suck again. You all keep choking down all the chiefs you can handle. But I think Carroll and Peyton and Harbaugh will give Andy a run for the money. Andy has had terrible coaches to contend against until now. I'm curious how this year shakes out. Gruden was good but didn't get time to establish a team.

  6. I am a huge Broncos fan and I agree that until the Broncos prove that they can consistently beat their conference rivals it is to early to talk about going to the Superbowl. If Denver manages to sweep all their conference games, which I see as highly unlikely at this point, then we can talk about the Superbowl.

  7. When people talk about the Chargers, they say they could win the division. They also say that about the Broncos. No one says it about the Raiders. When they talk about the Chiefs, they say they could win the Super Bowl. That's the difference in the AFC West. Everybody else is trying to get into the playoffs or win the division. The Chiefs are trying to win the Super Bowl.
