Padres Jason Adam carted off in sad Labor Day loss to Orioles

pretty terrible last like four days, however long it’s been to be a Padre fan. You could tell your whole life, but I mean this this sucks. The big story of today, obviously, I know Padres’s lose, but Jason Adam, he ends up popping something. He heard something pop. You could see him say that on the broadcast that he heard something pop there. And he’s laying on the ground and you could just see it in the look in his face. You could see in the look in Manny’s face where he’s just kind of like blank just staring out into the crowd. I I don’t know. I’m It’s weird how one injury can totally change your thoughts on what could happen this season. And it’s a reliever. Like I shouldn’t feel this way, but I do. I hope Padres’s fans realize, and it seems like they do. I did get emotional watching as Jason Adam got carded off and seeing the ovation that he got from Padres’s fans, everybody clapping for him on their feet as he’s leaving. Um, so I think we do understand how great of a talent he is and a human being, like great dude. Um, but like this guy is a 193 RA. He was the first all-star that we first all-star reliever we had. It wasn’t Suarez. It wasn’t Morahone. It was Jason Adam. He was the initial all-star in that bullpen. So, I mean, I know it was a year ago, but last year Robert Suarez wasn’t the guy in the postseason that I trusted the most. It was Jason Adam. And he’s doing it again this year with a sub two. And you know, thankfully the Padres’s went out and got Mason Miller because what if this happened and they didn’t go get Mason Miller? Still would have a pretty darn good bullpen. But like I still feel at least there’s that. I feel a little bit better. But it’s almost at the point where I just don’t care how many relievers we have. Losing Jason Adam just feels different. Don’t want to lose anyone. And hopefully this doesn’t sound like I’m minimizing other players, but losing Jason Adams is a bigger blow I I feel like to this team than losing someone like Robert Suarez. Um, again, don’t want to lose him. I love Robert Suarez. Like, but Jason Adam, at least for me, in terms of trust level, he’s at the top at the very top of the list. And I know in the regular season there’s been some rough patches, but like no, that guy’s nails. I I trust that guy so much. So, um I’m doing this now before I see what Mike Schil says because I assume that he’s not going to say much because there’s still going to probably be a bunch of tests and he’s just coming in for managing the the game. He wasn’t back there. The trainers don’t talk to the media, so I doubt we’ll get too much of an update. If we do, you’ll see it on my social medias, obviously. Um, but yeah, could be Achilles. Don’t know. Total speculation. But yeah, it sucks Padres’s lost this game, but that’s not even where my thought is. My thought is just like, all right, now come postseason time, Jason Adam out for the year. That’s what it seems like when he gets card off like that and it’s September. We’re in September now. Not great. Uh but yeah, like now there’s going to be other fan bases that are going to be like, “Oh, stop crying. Now you have Robert Suarez, Mason Miller, Adrien and Jeremiah Estrada, and David Morgan to go to instead of adding on Jason Adams. Oh, wow. What a big deal.” You know, there’s definitely worse situations. I understand that. But I love Jason Adams so much. I love watching that guy pitch so much. And um now it’s like Robert Suarez, we know that he can give up the long ball. I’m not saying Adam can’t, but like we know that that’s there there’s the potential there. He came through last October, so hopefully that happens. Uh but you just don’t know. You just don’t know. And Jason Adam to me, like in the postseason for me, that’s like a sure yeah, he’s going to come through. Um so it sucks. It sucks. the Padre season may have just changed because it’s not just one guy, but also it’s the effect that he has throughout the rest of this regular season and come postseason time because sure in the postseason you’re going to have everyone available almost every game, you would think um out of the bullpen if he can manage it well enough, but at least in the regular season and just the other effect like the reason why the Padres’s have so much depth and why it’s so great is because you can give Adam and the night off if they pitch two days in a row and then you have Miller and Suarez and Estrada and you know you have other guys you can go to if you take out Jason Adam from that now if let’s say your starter gives you five innings and you want your high leverage guys so six seven eight nine who are you going to go you got to go to those four every single time if you know because Schult he’s probably going to want to rely on the guys that he’s going to trust the And to me, that’s Robert Suarez, that’s Adrian that’s Mason Miller, and that’s Estrada. So, if you’re going to keep going to that, well, and in the postseason, the starting pitchers aren’t going to go long. I mean, Dylan C today went four innings. I hope he doesn’t make too many postseason starts. Um, I just especially against the Dodgers, I just don’t trust him in those big games. But like starting pitchers, four innings is not out of the ordinary. It doesn’t feel like come postseason time. So, you I know picked up an inning in two/3. Suarez, same thing. They’re going to do that every postseason game. So, what that’s going to mean is David Morgan’s going to have to be huge in the postseason. Um, these other guys, I don’t know what Yuki and Wandy’s roles are going to be. I don’t know what starter are they going to put Randy in the bullpen, like what that’s going to look like. But just a lot of question marks. Like these last four days have been just kicking the nuts time after time with Tatis going out and they say it was precautionary him not playing today with a tight hammy, but come on. Watching the game yesterday where he comes up in right field and he’s holding his hamstring as he’s trying to, you know, play the game, you know, make the play, like come on. Not going to feel great about that. You got Bogey who’s out. Who knows when he’s coming back. Michael King’s still out. Seems like there’s progress there, but what is he going to look like when he comes back? Um, so this just it’s great. You know, good news they got Jackson Merrell back. Wasn’t expecting him to make his appearance back as a pinch runner, but is what it is. Um, so at least there’s good news there. But yeah, I know it’s a reliever and I know the Padres’s still have a really good team. They can still go far. Uh but and I it feels weird to like pick, you know, do the injury like pick game if that makes sense. Um but just to try to prove my point and how much confidence I have in Jason Adam, like if there’s one reliever in that bullpen that you could pick to be injury proof, Jason Adams the guy I’m picking. Some people may go with Mason Miller with the velocity. Some may go with because he’s a lefty and what he’s done this year. that’s to, you know, multiple innings he can carry and all that. That’s definitely an option, too. Um, it’s tough. Like, that’s how good this bullpen is. But Jason Adam is the guy that I would pick. So, I’m not feeling good at all right now. Um, don’t know about the division that Twin Series losing a series to a team that isn’t trying, you know, to go to the post. They’re not going to obviously, but like a team that traded away a ton of talent, what, 10 players before the deadline, and you get blown out in two of those games. And then today to lose to a team that’s in last place in the AL East, a team, yes. Do they have talent? Yep. But you’re chasing the Dodgers for the division. You’re trying to go win a World Series. You’re facing a last place team in the AL East. A team that’s 14 games with this win, by the way. 14 games under 500. And I know Adam got hurt, right? And no Tatis and no Merryill in the starting lineup. No Bogarts. Like Padres’s, they’re down players. and we got to put that in there because that’s only fair to them. Uh but I still know there’s a ton of talent on this team and it’s really disappointing seeing um them sliding here because like the division we can say that it’s still right there because the Dodgers have been losing some games too and so it’s still like two games back but it’s really three because they have the tiebreaker. You got to really think of it that way. And I know there’s still a month left and, you know, one series of really good baseball and one series of bad baseball for them and things can totally change and we can feel much better. But right now, I I’m not really thinking about the division right now. I’m thinking more about just being able to host host a a wild card series like last year. So yeah, that’s what I’ve got. Freaking sucks. Injuries freaking suck. Schilt said, uh, this is from Annie Halbrun. Schult said the prognosis early is not favorable for Jason Adam. Yeah, no. Said it’s a tendon rupture. So, there you go. Tendon rupture. They will do further testing, but he is not overly positive. Quad tendon rupture. Wow. I think it’s Yeah, it’s left leg. Terrible. Absolutely terrible news. I I try to be optimistic. I I think a lot of people that follow the show, they know I try to be optimistic, but it’s pretty hard to be after seeing that today. [Music]

  1. Before we all go out and commit suicide maybe we should find out what is exactly wrong with our reliever. The only reason the Padres are still in a good position is because it doesn't look like there are any quality teams left in baseball.

  2. WE GAVE UP 12 HITS .. that cannot happen at a home game, and once again IGLESIAS is out there being goofy… Manny was a no show .. aren't the orioles a sub. 500 TEAM.

  3. Devastating loss! He has been incredible. Offense aka the main top guys need to step up now! Maybe Manny looked blanked out because he realizes he needs to step the heck up because it's a huge loss. Him and Morejon are just next level on top of the great human that Adam is. I'm so sad and angry at the rest of the team. To play like this against these bad teams. Psh, they're making us look like the bad team. It feels like everything is crumbling. And absolutely I agree with you and trusting Adam. I have felt the same way. So sad. Wish him the best.

  4. What sucks is having absolutely no one down on the farm bring up to help out. Of course you're not going to replace Adam completely but still, there is no one to bring up. The offense continues to struggle except of course for our Baltimore guys. But just like there is no pitching help down there there is no offensive help down there on the farm. That's why you don't gut your system, you keep a couple that are close to being ready that you can bring up that hopefully can take up some of the slack and the rest has to be taken up by the guys already on the roster but there is no help down there and there never is. If the starters don't start going six innings or more consistently it's going to be over with anyway. No bullpen can keep going like this, it's almost like every day is bullpen day. There is just no depth in this organization, they are all out on the field right now. THAT'S WHO WE HAVE, THAT'S WHO HAS TO START PLAYING MUCH BETTER BASEBALL.

  5. There is no way losing one quality reliever should crush the chances of this team. If it does, there is something wrong with the way this team is constructed. That's my bet

  6. Every if the injury happened earlier in the season he would have been gone for the year… I don’t know if they can’t find a spark ⚡️ then it’s another bummer for SD

  7. This hurts even more because he is a key component of the only consistent way the Padres win.
The padres have been playing a frankly unsustainable style of baseball where their power packed lineup cannot seem to fire on all cylinders and produce a high level of run support on a consistent basis. We have won games by completely shutting opposing offenses down from the 6th and on. The starter will go out there, lately their showings have been awful, they put up just enough runs to squeak out a small lead, and we sweat out and win a low scoring game by having the bullpen shut them down. Now we have lost one of our key pieces in shutting down the latter part of the game. Starting pitching needs to be able to better support the bullpen and the offense needs to stop looking so sorry. Could you imagine where we would be if we didn’t land Laureano and ohearn and decided to ride it out with the core guys? Injuries or not they as a group offensively have been unremarkable and now we do not have nearly as much margin for that with a significant member of our bullpen gone.

  8. Adam injury truly as bad. But he’s just one inning every other day. Look at the way Padre hitters swing. Then look at the other too 4-5 days. If Padres made the playoffs they’d be a quick exit vs good pitching. Heck they can’t hit bad pitching.

  9. I feel really bad for Jason Adam. and I'm a Dodgers fan, but that's a cool dude right there, and you guys already had very low chances of doing any sort of deep playoff run, losing your "workhorse" elite mid-innings reliever, I feel like that takes your odds down significantly from how low they already were to begin with. I don't see you guys winning a single playoff series. you don't have the starting pitching you've got one good picther, injuries up and down the lineup, you can't hit home runs which, that is really important to be able to do in the postseason. and then there is the psychological aspect. you guys- I'm not saying the fans I'm talking about the team- have the personality of a very timid character that cannot handle pressure and makes mental mistakes when under said pressure.

I actually think Mike shildt seems like a solid dude. I'd have a beer with him in the bar and chop it up about whatever. but I'm not sure he has the proper tools to guide a team to the promised land.

I give you guys a 95% of making the postseason and a 10% chance of winning any series you get into, and less than 1% chance of advancing to an LCS.

but I'm starting to notice that a lot of Padre fans actually respect us, and I respect that.
