Behind The Grind Ep. 4 | Competition Breeds Excellence
You want to go play, girly? Come on. Go down the slide. You want to play golf, huh? Hey, it’s fun in the park. It’s fun in the park. Oh, no, no, no. I want the pink one. Football’s been everything forever. Ready? Now I got a family and I’ve kind of realized that football isn’t everything. It’s still a lot, but not everything. This is everything. It’s fun. All of it. I wouldn’t have it year 10 any other way. No, I did it. They keep me busy. I did it. I did it. No, I did it. First offseason with two. Yeah, Hendrickx is two two months old. This one’s been a little bit uh it’s a little even with two kids, a little bit easier than last. Just not having surgeries, having a healthy off season. Isla, can I put you to bed every night? Daddy’s not going to be here. Yeah, Daddy’s going to camp for a couple weeks, Isa. Yeah. Yeah. Go to football camp. You get to wear a pretty dress to coming up. Uhhuh. But I want to wear my dress. Yeah, me too. Yeah, I’m wear to the same. I think it was like my rookie year. I do remember seeing guys and like having their families running around on the field with their kids and stuff and I was like that would be really cool one day to have that. It’s almost like a dream of mine being able to have them out there. Come on, go for a ride. I wanted to play long enough to where she was old enough to kind of get to experience it and remember it. And now like that I have that. It’s It’s cool. Whoa, I’m dizzy. I’ve been out here so long that this is home. Rarely do people get to say that. Especially playing in the NFL, being in one place for that long, it’s special and I’m just grateful for it. No place I’d rather be. No organization I’d rather be in. Healthy off season. Best offse. Training camp’s a grind. I start sharpening the iron. Getting ready for a season. Building that armor to go try to win a championship. Girl’s fearless. Okay. You want to go to sky? [Music] Dad needs a break. [Music] We want to be the first to welcome you back to LMU. It’s great to be here in Westchester on the west side once again. The site for Rams training camp. The players are here. The coaches have reported. [Music] What are your hopes for this team? How will you measure success for the 2025 Rams? I think it’s going to be a good year. I’m calling it right now. Good year, man. You know, we came for one reason. where we can go to dominate. I think I speak for all of us when I say it’s nice to be back in these seats where they’re set up for success right now and I think for many more years to come, especially when you consider what they did on draft day, stocking up some extra capital in 2026. [Music] We’re excited to get going. Thought we had a really good offseason program and and now really the work starts. We’re not going to allow expectations to get in the way of our ability to go swing. Players change, coaches change the feeling of how we finish at the end of that season. And obviously, we wanted to go further than what we did. The goal always reach the Super Bowl as now we taking one at a time. Coming off last year molded into our identity and growing on top of that is, you know, going to be huge going forward. We got people who are playmakers top to bottom. from special teams, offense to defense, like we are stacked. We got people who know what it is to be here as a Ram and play as a Ram. Excited because I know the potential of this team and how far we can go. [Music] Two reverse reverse. Great one. one. We are now on our way to day one of school. And I am student of the game. [Music] Let’s cut. Let’s cut. Hurry up. I say I say that. Yeah. Yeah. I like you got to take that off. I just not mess trying not to mess it up too bad. You know what I’m saying? The helmet going to get it messed up a little bit. He definitely has the best look. That’s that’s that’s team pride right there. I’m going to do something next year. Watch. I’m going to do something next year or we should all do something. Right, Warren? [Laughter] You know, it’s funny watching all the players walk out on the field. What have you noticed about all of them? They’re all smiling. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. Right tackle Rob Havenstein said he’s cleared to be a full participant after missing OTAAS while getting those shoulders cleaned up. Let’s go to how you back out here. Good to see you. The heart and soul of the football team, the toughness of it. [Music] Yeah. Yeah, baby. The other big one is the Chairen extension or lack thereof so far. Both sides saying progress has been made. Only one way to get two. Let’s go, man. Kairen’s entering the final year of his rookie deal. A practice that separates us from the other teams. Linebackers lead the way. OBV’s on two team. 1 2 3. Linebacker position now has Spates as a sophomore. Nate Lamman in free agency. Go. Which rookie are you looking forward to seeing the most out here in the coming weeks? Ferguson, just because of what he might bring to this offense and what we think this offense can be. Let’s go. Go, boys. Bring that train, baby. Come on. I think the biggest thing is going to be the physicality that you need in the red zone of the tight end. Physical Fergie. When Higgby came back, I mean, he’s a team leader. Uh you remember when he scored, everybody went completely bonkers, but it changed the offense. There go Higs. That’s I’m very excited to see what they do and possibly on the field at the same time. You can’t cover them all. Should have got into him more and kind of chicken winged him instead of I know he’s gonna I’m with you. I’m with you. I should have went more I was like, well, I don’t want to be late and I was like maybe and we hadn’t thrown that route, but I was like maybe like just like I know I should have leaned and pushed and then flattened. Yeah, it’s all right. We’ll get another rep. The tight ends like they’ve been battling like you know what I mean? I that’s the standard. You know what I mean? And it’s like cuz there’s a lot of guys when you don’t have Oh, go shake his hand. Here we go. Sit. We can still take some more. Keep closing. Think about, hey, I’m taking my right hand to the sternum. Think your left hand on this on his hip right there. Okay. You want me to just play kind of into them and then stop. All right. Just more of a fit than anything. This is probably the deepest room I’ve been a part of since I’ve been here. Should we stay inside out right there? a lot of guys that can play top to bottom. Trying to be a leader, a mentor for those guys. And I’ve seen a lot of ball, played a lot of snaps. So, try to pass on all the knowledge I can and uh keep competing with those guys. We got a special team. It’s a game we all grew up loving. So, the opportunity to play it, especially at this level, and then get paid for it is special. And that’s when them dog days hit is when you got to kind of separate yourself individually and as a team. Just coming back to work, getting the opportunity to work, playing football. That was a good competitive practice. That was That was good. That was good plays both ways. Yeah, definitely. We just need to get pads on. Oh, yeah. This is when the real football comes out. Hi. Training camp’s always hard work, [Music] but just being able to be a part of it gives you a different perspective this year. You know what I mean? Come on. Hug. Do you know how to do this? You know how to go mini golf a little bit. I’m not going to take it easy on you. No. All right. Didn’t you lose to your girl? Well, my girl is good at this, though. Who going first? Me. Go ahead. Let me see. Let me get the angles. All right. Hole in one. Hole in one. No. Right here. Right. Camp is going really good. It’s a lot of fun. This is the best time of the year getting to be with all the guys and do just football, you know. See, it’s all about the angle. Junior, watch this right here. I know more now cuz I was able to go through a whole year of it. So, you know, I had Coupe last year to learn from and I had to having Devonte too. That’s like just that’s truly a blessing. Yeah, I got a lot coming in last year just like nerves like you don’t know how things going to shake out and stuff like that. So, it’s more comfortability, you know, and then just enjoying it a lot more, you know, making plays on him and stuff like that, you know. I think we had like a mutual friend or something like that and then we were chopping it up. It was cool. And then he was like, “Can I be your friend?” At first I was like, “Nah.” But then I was just like, “All right.” But I felt bad for him. So I was like, “All right, it’s good.” Like we could be friends. Like he play off, I play defense. I usually don’t, you know? That’s nice. That’s nice. I just ask somebody, “Can I play?” That’s my That’s not how it went. I can tell you exactly how it went. I didn’t expect this to be this close to be honest. Y lucky right now. We all came in, same draft class, but basically we was all cool, all friends, and he was just, you know, on the outside like he was all to himself. He ain’t want to talk to nobody. And I saw him eating lunch by himself one day. He told me that if I won, he would give me his whole salary for the year. [Music] And I walked through, I was like, “Bro, you ain’t got to do this alone, fam.” You know what I’m saying? Just enjoy the ride with all of us, bro. Like, we all family. That’s pretty. And then, you know, ever since then, I’ve been just taking him under my wing. My little bro. He took a little hit yesterday. He got something going on. All right. Oh, wow. As you can see, the defeat is starting to take over. I win. Feels good to be a winner. Omar, have a good day. Now, let’s go. Yar. [Applause] Why you here telling me I’m miked up, bro? I’m trying to get people back. I didn’t tell nobody. Okay. Hey, I’mma let people know like him. You ain’t been in pass since we played Philly. We ain’t been in pass since we played Philly. Pass on. We see a football player. Hey. Hey. 1 2 3. 1 2 3. Come on. D. Oh yeah. Leave me one. Once the pass come on, it’s the closest thing to a real game. You’re not just tagging off no more. Like you hear the pass popping, [Music] just TD. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Hey, he back. He back. He back. He back. What they talking about? Verse. Yeah. Verse. This ain’t a hobby. This my life. Okay. Sean. Yeah. Sean. Yeah. Don’t lie. [Music] Yeah. Hey, that should take it from the community. All five years that I was in college, I learned something each and every year. My time at Oregon State that would really molded me. That was my first time playing with the linebacker position. Like I didn’t play linebacker in high school. Throws down the middle. Broke it up. It’s popped up off the hands of Desmond Patton. It’s intercepted. That’s how I really learned to position. And you know, I really got to learn ball and stuff like that. And then LSU, it took that up a notch more. I got to practice against guys like Malik Neighbors, Jay, and Daniels. Growing up, I watch guys like Ray Lewis, Bobby Wagner, and then guys of this era like Roan Smith, Bra Warner. being able to take things from bunch of different places and just mold everything together. A year ago this time, just get a perspective of where I was coming from last year around this time. I kind of put high expectations on myself. You know, if you going to do something like shoot for the stars, aim for the moon, regardless of if you hit it or not, you know. So, I think my main thing was, yeah, I wanted to make the team, but like that’s just one step to where I’m trying to get, you know? So I just kind of put, you know, high expectations on myself to to always keep me chasing something. Middle handoff. Only need a yard. Stopped initially. Rams might have done it on fourth down. Omar Spates LA with a takeaway on defense. The way you play could bring energy to guys. Yes, sir. Omar. Yes, sir. Omar. Fast. Physical. I’m wherever the ball at, you know, just always around the ball. Just making my presence felt. They’ll trust Barkley over the left side. He might be short. He might be short. I’m just trying to make big plays every game. Make that identity, you know, for myself. How go you be the best person you today? Fourman rush. Pressure arrives. Pressure gets home. Balls out. It’s a fumble. Omar Spates gets a strip sack. I’m a big believer. Wish for you is never going to miss you. Cuz I got that piece to know that I shot my shot. Like I did everything that I could to put myself in position. And if it happened, it happened. And if they don’t, they don’t, you know. So God, whatever God got for me, I know that’s good at the end of the day. [Music] All right, man. Going into this talking to GI about a lot of these runs as we look at it. Obviously, it’s it’s gamesmanship, man. They’re going to do some things. They know what we’re doing, right? We know what they’re doing. But let’s talk about it. All right? If you see something, say something and let’s make sure we got clarity. All right? As we look at these plays, do you look at their room as a whole and look at every individual guy, you’re talking about guys that have buckled their chin strap and have scratched and clawed their way to where they’ve gotten and how they’ve gotten their spot on this team. I don’t have to worry about there being any kind of complacency because these guys know that they feel like they’re always behind the eightball and have to always prove themselves every day. Do you got issue in front of you, right? Cuz what happened? He got reached. He got cut out, right? He got cut out. So now with him getting cut out, right, you just got to make sure you use your hands, right? Extend. Keep that guy shock. Keep his hands cuz like we talk about it all the time being fast cuz when they come up the person coming this way, they coming this. So you got to strike to make sure those arms don’t get around you, get on the outside, your pass. Collectively, they’re similar to the point they are all smart and tough. A lamb man brings just constant energy and communication. Omar’s he’s like Debo, you know what I mean? He’s he’s the tough guy. Doesn’t smile a lot. When he hits people, he moves people. So Omar Omar is the muscle. Even if I step down hard, if they’re pushing him into me, they’re going to hang on. Yeah. You know, and Troy, I can trust him to coach any other guys on the side. And then you go down through Eli. Eli is a is a spark plug. And then Dolac is steady Eddie. And you almost see a lot of what a Troy is from an above the neck football player. He’s already got that in him. Commitment and consistency, man. We the commitment to stay and get this thing started. We started off on the right track. Let’s separate ourselves from the rest of the league today, fellas. So, what does success look like? And so, we talk about that all the time. It’s competitive, but also the competition is not with one another. The competition is with yourself. How consistently can you execute? [Music] Hey, bring it. Hey, bring it in tight, boys. Bring it in tight. Hey, set the tone today. Everybody set the tone to jump inside. Nice job, man. Man, back three. These guys are going to work harder to the edge, so get your leverage and then mirror block. Yeah, Troy, just 51. Nice. Nice. The impressive thing about him is how he not only just came in and learned the defense, he became so confident that he could start talking about other spots. Hey, give him a good look. Give him a good look. Tough for practicing these one-on- ones, dog. Set the tone right here. He has already took ownership into this defense. And that to me is so uncommon and so impressive that he was able to do that. Pete, bring it up. Hey, let’s go. Let’s go. Hey, last time deep dig. Deep dig last time. Left screw, two switch. Left screw, two switch. Ready. Second and eight, boys. Second and eight. Alert screen. So the green dot means I got the microphone, the helmet. Um the defensive coordinator who’s calling the plays from either the sideline or in the booth is talking to me before each play. Hey, left play. Left play. Ready. Ultimately, he’s giving me the call that he wants, but also giving me some reminders, you know, to talk to the defense. I got to be vocal. Okay, man. Okay, man. 53. We’re dropping to it. Hey, stop being so nice, dog. I’m not going to throw me in the stance. I know, but win. I’m winning. No, you got to show it. Win. Trust me. Hey, I’m just giving you some advice. Don’t be afraid to hurt some feelings here. Yeah. To be a green dot, you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable in that situation. Being outspoken when things are low, getting them back to even and things when we have a high moment, getting them back to even, not riding the highs and lows too much, you know, leaning into that leadership. Hey D, good th on that third down, boys. Hey, way to grind that series out. Way to grind that series out, big boys. Ah, the competition is how consistent can I execute. So don’t think the competition is within this group. The competition is with yourself. That’s what you’re being evaluated on is how consistently can you execute what’s being called. All right, so let’s all focus on that because we all got the ability to do it. But let’s go ahead and just make sure that’s the competition. All right. So, let’s compete every day in that way and we’ll rock and we’ll get uh get uh against the Cowboys next week. Good. That’s good. All right, man. Who got the prayer? I got it. Uh Lord, thank you for this day. Lord, thank you for bringing this group together. Thanks for uniting us with this team. Lord, thank you for the leadership traits that you’ve uh given each one of us in this room to help lead this team. Lord, our one unite goal, Lord, to make this team better. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Amen. LB’s on three. 1 2 3. I’ll be like, “Get outside.” My son be looking at me. He be like, “We know when it’s time to like we got to talk some things out and and watch some film and learn some things.” But then when those times come up, when it’s just organic or topic just come up and then we just get to talking and then it’s just like everybody’s so connected that it just flowed to the point where it’s like we could go in there and talk for an hour if if we really wanted to. When you start talking 8th grade, what you four started fourth grade? No, four years old. Four years old you started talking football. I’m like damn. A lot of us come from so many different backgrounds but we could all chop it up the same. we could all laugh at the same things and you know share sim some of the same experiences and stuff like that. It’s not even about the football. It’s about like learning discipline and grinding through hard your teammates. And I feel like the earliest phase of football was like true like fun. You know, when you understand everybody’s story, you learn to respect where everybody came from. You respect their grind cuz you know you’ve been through something similar and what it’s taken for them to make it to the spot that you were in. Saturday like you know what I’m saying? I’m excited for our warnings at half time you used to go out and like not even I think that’s why we’re playing super well together on the field no matter who’s in with each other. It’s just we respect the guy next to us and you know that respect is starting to build a lot of trust throughout the room about the Origin. Oh team mom whoever the team mom was we tight that’s my baby. Yeah, Capri sign. We all had the same childhood, dude. Just different places, bro. The Rams have extended the contract, locking in star ball carrier Kairen Williams, adding three years to his rookie deal for a reported $33 million. Williams rushed for almost 1,300 yards last season and 14 touchdowns. He accounted for a league high 43% of his team’s offensive touches. It’s a surreal moment. If you would have asked that kid at 5 years old if he’d be here right now, he’d start crying the same way I cried this morning when I found out the news. This dream of mine didn’t just start when I got to high school or got to college. Like, this is something I dreamt of ever since I was a little kid. Kyle, congratulations, man. So happy for you, coach. You got the one. I promise you. That’s what I see every snap on tape from you, man. You are versatile, complete. I love your competitiveness. I can’t wait, man. Everybody loves you, man. Really happy for you. I appreciate you, coach. I swear to goodness, I’m going to come in there. I’m going to do everything. And I promise y’all going to get everything for me. Since leaving college to where I’m at now, I thought life was going to be easy. But it was the exact opposite. You don’t feel that pressure at all, huh? On the foot. You’re running at a freaking angle, bro. You can’t get no more stress on that. I had two surgeries right off bat in my rookie year. That’s it. Good. Good. Good. In that moment, in that storm that I was going through, I embraced it. I enjoyed the journey because I knew what was going to come out of all that work. Third and goal from the one. Hand off left side. Barreling in for the first touchdown of a new season. It’s Kiran Williams. All that perseverance, all that courage that I had in myself to know that, you know, I’m going to come out on top. Breaks it right side. Kyra’s got a hat-tick. Leaping into the end zone. Untouch. Leaf block five. Front right pylon. Touchdown. A somersault to the end zone. Through an arm tackle, steps through another. Steps into the end zone. Welcome back, Kiran Williams. I wouldn’t be anywhere I am without my mom. The endless support for me through everything. We hear you, Taran. It’s not a signing without you being here. You ready, Mom? That’s awesome. Thanks. I’m glad she could join us. Taran, you’re going to be catching a lot more footballs in the end zones with the Rams. I’m ready. I’ve been working. Superman. I don’t remember how old I was. I remember I told my mom I was going to be in the NFL. How long have I been dreaming about this for? Huh? Probably since about four four years old, actually. Yeah. I think I have you in a Rams uniform when you were about four. Probably the Super Bowl in 2000. St. Louis. I remember that. Still got the picture. You see, I hung up my favorite Ram. Yeah, I saw the first day I got here. The Rams that I grew up watching, that’s the team that I’ve always wanted to play for. [Music] Go. Let’s go. Let’s go. And now that I’m living my dream, it’s everything to me. Need a moment right now. Got to love it, man. Go represent what it means to continue to carry on that legacy of the Rams running backs, Eric Dickerson, Marshall Faul, Stephen Jackson, Todd Gurley, all those great backs that came before me. I’m just glad I went through all the things that I went through. I know that I’m not here by mistake. Signature and the final initial. Feel great, huh? Yeah. Perfect. Perfect. Welcome back to Sofi Stadium. Rams Cowboys about to kick off this. I’ve been missing this. I can’t wait to see how the Rams handle it. How Dallas handles it. You got to see the dream before you live a dream. This tape goes out to everyone. Everybody’s being evaluated. Whatever rep you get is the most important rep of your life. Here’s a dream. Thank you, God. Come on. Come on. Come on. Just help me. Yeah, sir. Come on. All 32 teams, watch this tape. So, put on film for everybody, fellas. Get at it. Facts, baby. Here we go. Family on three. 1 2 3. If they can’t find a place for you here, there may be a job for you someplace else. And you never know who’s watching. I know you’re proud of me, Dad. I know you’re proud of me. I’m going to go for the day today. I’m going to play for you. I’m going to play for all the people who are doubting. All the people who were a little overlooked. All the people that just won as bad as I do. And it drops back with time. Fires one down the left sideline. Oh, he got it. Yeah. Yes, sir. Heck yeah. Xavier Smith. A 39 yd gate for the Rams. What a catch. What a throw. Great route by Xavier to get open. Stson Bett put it right over the left shoulder. came right down with it. Great catch, [Applause] baby. Yeah. Bennett hands it off to Corm right up the gut in the end zone. Touchdown Rams. Great drive by Bennett. Way to finish by Blake Corin. I ain’t going to lie. I like when he threw that I said. Yeah. I can’t. I say what? out of prison. Hey, I knew you was coming. Bennett on the left hash. Four receivers out there. Quick toss to his receiver. Bump takes a hand. Pushes forward inside the 10. Then it takes the snap. Hand it off to Gorum. Up the gut again in the end zone for a touchdown. The Rams leading 13- nothing here in the first quarter. Chef’s kiss on the drive executing the plays. Blake Corm again. Hey M. Hey, dog. You’re built for this, Sean. Proud of you. I’m proud of you. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go make a play. Wave. Hurry. Let’s go. Poo. Come on. What? Come on, baby. Yeah, boy. Yeah. Come on. Hell yeah. Hey, way to fight, D. Way to fight, D. Way to fight. Make some plays now. Make some plays. [Music] Milton drops back on first and 20. And he’s taken down at the 24 yd line. Josiah Stewart with the sack. Come on. Yeah. Yeah. Great job getting off the block. Bam. Almost got the ball out. That’s a heck of a play by Stewart. This guy has upside and it drops back. Launches over the middle. Oh, he got it. It is caught. Kate Mumfield on that one. It looks like Shamar James did get a hand on it. He got a hand on it and it deflected in the way towards Kante Mumfield. [Music] They hand it off to Shrader. Shrader finds a hole on the right side, breaks through, gets into Cowboy territory and trucks a guy going forward. Hand it off again to Shrader. Makes another man missed. Going through the hole, lowers the shoulder near the marker again. Put on the ground by Shrader. What am I seeing here? What am I seeing here? Got to call it again. Got to call it again. Bennett in the gun. Drops back. Fires over the middle. It’s caught and running up for a touchdown is Cody Schrader out of the back field. And the Rams are pouring it on here at So right on Q. Come on. You guys competing on the perimeter. They got to make business decisions with them running backs now. All right. Play action. Bennett rolling to his left. Got a man wide open in the back of the end zone. A touchdown, Brandon Presley. Beautiful play. Great execution. Great job by Stson Bennett. Drops it in the bucket. Great catch. [Music] The Rams victorious in game number one. Next week will be a great test because Shawn McVey had his group ready to go. You know, Harbaugh will be ready for week two. It’s a good day. It’s a good day today. Ram got the dub. Ram got a dub. It’s all that matters. On to game two. BP looked like he was moving on Saturday. Oh, he was, man. He on that kicker turn, he looked like he was getting loose. Preseason football here is a great opportunity for our young players to go and be on the field in a game environment. Fact that our starters don’t play. Those are the guys that we’re relying on going into game. Those are the guys that it’s their moment. Hey, here we go. M Drake stay. M Drake stay. Hey, let’s go cuff. Go ahead. F. With any position group, there’s always a big picture mindset and mentality that you want to establish. as foundations that you want to build on. Good tap and a turn. Let’s go. Let’s go. Here we go. Open it up a little bit. You get guys that are brand new to this place, brand new to the NFL, but you’re catering things to their strengths. You’re catering coaching points. I like it. Steady move. Good move. You know, as they start figuring it out as they start getting a feel of what we’re trying to do and how we’re trying to do it, you see those guys make huge strides. And that’s a part that you really appreciate in in coaching. The keeper once again, Shieldhouse faults into the end zone. Touchdown, Illinois. Get it again. First rushing touchdown of the career of Nathan Shield House. Feel like it’s always cool to reflect back because all my memories and experiences were from being out on the field. This is going to be Jenkins. Jenkins down the sideline. Touchdown. I went to University of Illinois. Uh got a chance to start there for four years at quarterback. She house fooled everybody on the boot land. I was a good college football player, a good quarterback, but I knew the NFL was going to be a tough sledding after about a year and a half away from football. Wanted to step back into coaching and there was an opportunity at the University of Illinois. Baptism by fire, but knew once I was in it that I really loved and enjoyed it. Stay at Illinois for two more years or going to Iowa State. went from coaching running backs to coaching receivers to really coaching both position groups. Ultimately leading to coordinating by the end of my time and calling plays, right? Usually you got to step away. You got to go somewhere else. But getting to do that all in one place was unique. Finished there as the offensive coordinator before coming here to LA. Hey, keep turning into a fist fight. They ain’t got enough for us. They got enough people. Once I was in this environment, saw the learning, the growth that that could occur, I was fired up to come here. Yeah. How much that takes to learn from coach McVey, from coach, from the rest of the offensive staff. That’s what’s cool is like now it’s just a part of just what they do. The first thing I felt like I had to do is I had to learn as much about this place and how things were done. Good X-Man. Clean feet, Drake. just how things were seen from the top down and and so I feel like I spent a ton of time just grinding on that just trying to figure out the background, the why, the intent of of everything we were trying to do as an offense. Good aggressive hands. One, five. Hey, good aggressive hands. Getting behind the scenes, you really realize the high level of detail that’s put into everything. Good. I like that. I like that subtle eyes. The reason why plays have come to life, the reason why formations have evolved in the way that they have. Hey, straight to the teach table tape. It’s a cool environment to be a part of as somebody who appreciates good offensive football and and good football in general. And so being here and and you know, really hearing and understanding how those things have come to life uh has been an incredible experience for me. Sean McVey not coaching this one. Aubrey Pleasant getting another opportunity today to be met. Be the same. Yes, sir. Good to be here. The players love him. The coaches love him. I’m so glad he gets this opportunity. I hope his team plays hard for him today. You know what time it is. What up? Got to hit him in a mile. One more week for guys to prove themselves out here as we are in preseason game number two of three. You can either prove them right or wrong based on what you do today. This is your last opportunity. Hey, touchdown after M. Touchdown to M action. Bennett floats it. End zone. Touchdown. Touchdown Re. Great route by Mumfield. Good strike by Stson Bennett. Right over the top. Boom. Touchdown. [Music] [Applause] [Music] takes the snap. Oh, and he goes down. There it is. Brennan Jackson gets a big pawn on Hinei to send him to the ground. This is what he is. It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t planned. It was just all of a sudden, great job. Don’t worry about that. Trust all that hard work you’ve been putting in there. The thing that I always want us to do, right, and this is a military thing now. They said in the fog of war, you fall back on your training. Yes, sir. Trust that. And then go play fast. Spinning on the spinning the do give me a to call the numbers up on your look at the stars. Not even close. [Music] Now what I like is that you’re being decisive with your runs. Okay. But just run with your eyes open, right? We always want to run off corners. me. [Music] Deep breath, man. Let’s go. I’m sending them. I’m running about thinking about the lead. Yeah, man. Yeah. Did you drink the light? I’m having fun. Moving methodically here. of the Rams at the moment. Play action. Bennett with time. Launches over the middle in strike. Mario Williams a 38 yd. And just like that, the Rams are back in front. Did I see that? Oh, that’s a Ethan Evans to punt it. End over end. Grim will receive it at the 35. Cuts back towards the middle of the field now. Swooping around towards the near sideline. Turns the corner. 105. Touchdown. And the Chargers regain the lead. You’ve got a third string offensive line in front of you. 74 yds to pay dirt. You got to make it happen right now of your stats. Bennett. Bennett takes the snap, launches over the middle. It’s caught and the Rams are on the move. Checks it down to Brennan Presley and he’s spun out of bounds. Fourth and 10. 20 seconds to go. Takes the snap, drops back. Pressure coming. Steps up in the pocket. Launches one deep down the field. A jump ball. Oh my god, he got it. Down with it. What a catch. Time out with 7 seconds to go. Stson Bennett just give it a ride. A wing and a prayer and Presley goes up and goes and gets it. Brennon Presley went up there with three different chargers and somehow came down with it. [Music] Everything hits the end zone. You’re going to have to score a touchdown to win the football game. Then it takes the snap. Drops back. Pressure coming over the middle. Can we do that? Touchdown for two and the Reds take the lead. Look at the sideline. This is what it’s all about. [Music] Walk it off. Steps and bended. Walk it off. [Music] The Revs come out victorious 2322. [Applause] very very very short, man. We talked about finishing the game the same way we started. Our style of play, playing fast, man. Fundamentally sound. Again, if we stay this tight, we stay this connected and we play all four quarters, man. And the league got something to deal with. The league got something to do with this time. I obviously got to get a game ball. Can I get a ball? Can I get a ball? Ball. Ball ball. Give me one. Give me one. Water. Give me that. [Applause] [Music] Hey. Hell of a win. Win a fight to the finish, man. Rams on three. 1 2 3. And then they’re going straight right here. BP, what’s your vertical? What’d you jump? It was a 34. God, that was easy. Well, you got 34 in your pads the other day then. N you got up there. It’s higher when I’m jumping for something like just standing straight up like Yeah. Oh, so when the ball’s in the air, you can go about probably 68 double. That’s Hey, see see that’s more than 34 when the ball’s in the air. We’ll get them kind of moving on the routes on air. Try to get five. That fifth one will get us down there. Then I’d keep them down there and just get two red zone routes just for Matthew. Get a flag concept with receivers on both sides so he can just see it and throw some red zone. Find the flat defender there. 2-2. Good right hash 11-11. Looks like Matthew Stafford to me, you know, and coolest part is he’s just back out there with the guys doing stuff he loves, operating at a world class level. I didn’t know any better. He looks like Matthew Stafford. So, it’s been fun to have him back. Quarterback Matthew Stafford back out on the practice field as he continues to make progress in his recovery from an aching back. Backs are sometimes interesting things. It’s not, you know, cut and dry. I really appreciate our team and our head coach and everybody taking a day-to-day approach with me. I have a huge feeling of responsibility to our team to do what’s right by them and I’m trying to do that as best I can day in and day out. That’s beautiful little eye candy there too. I saw the outside leverage. I I was shocked when he ran over. I think the measurement right now is are we improving each and every single day doing what’s necessary to get ourselves prepared for that first week. I love the approach that these guys just take day in and day out. Nice. Nice decisive decision behind the flat defender there. 22. Good. Put it up that inside edge. Good tempo out of there, Tay. Nice detail, Jay Wit. There will be some difficult decisions and that’s what you want across your entire roster. That would probably go a distance right there. When you do have that, that means you got better depth. There’s a lot of NFL football players there that are competing for those last spots. Love it. Love it. It’s not an underappreciated rep right there. That’s not an underappreciated rep, brother. Those guys just continue to gel and build and so if their numbers call, they’re ready to go and and fit right in. Good runs today, man. That was our That was our best. It was our best day as a team. Yeah, I thought so too. As a team? Yeah, it was high level. Let’s go. Let’s have a day, babe. Let’s have a day. Huh? Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go, babe. I think it’s always our job to be able to evaluate the roster and what they can do to help us. Hey, we’re going to be able to see everybody today. We’re going to find our guys today. when you’re talking about, you know, trying to make not only our roster, but, you know, other 31 teams if if they’re not here or even if you’re on a practice squad roster spot here and they get claimed by another team because of how they played and the the way they played in that last preseason game, I mean, that’s it’s your resume. Here we go. In all, it’s an NFL game on the NFL field. Represent yourselves. You’re ready for this. You prepared for this. Let’s go, man. Hey, go earn it today, huh? Let’s go. Take it. Take it. Take what’s yours. Let’s go. Going into it, you you’re really looking for the play style first and foremost. Like guys that just don’t want to tap out. Hey, let’s go make a play, man. Make a team right now. Here we go. Boots this one to the 10 yd line. Good right there, Tanner. Nice job, Tanner. Good, good, good, good. Nice job, Tanner. Good tackle by Engle. Engle was the guy last week that absolutely brought the wood. I mean, you watch Tanner Engle fly around. guys that just continue to compete. Rep in, rep out. And I love it. Let’s go. Let’s go. T. Here we go. Ball in the one. Rams looking to throw this into the end zone. They peel out looking for Drake Stoops. And Drake Stoops earns the touchdown. Touchdown LA. It’s awesome that we’re feeling the way we are. These guys have played a lot of snaps. They may be gassed and we’re playing against a majority of their ones and twos and just the compete level on all three phases. That’s what stood out to me. Hey, let’s end this thing in four minute, right? Let’s go end this, man. Let’s go. Go end it with four minute. Go end it with four minute. Oh, one first down, man. Let’s go. 215 remaining in this game. Dresser win on first and three. Hands off to Jordan Waters. He steps on one. It’s a touchdown for Jordan Waters. He comes in clutch in the fourth quarter. Nice job, babe. A 37yd field goal attempt to pick up the win for Andre Schmidt and the Cleveland Browns. Kick is up and the dog pound is going to celebrate. The Rams walking away with a loss here. from from Cleveland game to where we’re at now. You know, this is the worst part of the year. It really is because you build relationships with these guys. These guys grow close to one another, you can’t help it. You pull for certain guys, you know, you just have those feelings for. It’s really a challenge, but I think we do as good a job as anybody. And doesn’t make it any easier when it comes to those cut days, though. Favorite and worst part of the year because you know the roster. The bad part is some guys aren’t here anymore. Some guys you might like. You can’t keep everybody. Just how it goes. A lot of appreciation for a lot of guys that were here. Not easy decisions, but you do feel really good about the 53. And I feel good to be able to handle, you know, the adversity when it does come our way, cuz it is going to come our way. And and how we handle that will be a separator if we can do it the right way. 53 is not the total number of Rams who are going to contribute this season. We know that very well. I thought back to the Super Bowl season of 21 when over 70 contributors were active at some point during that year to win a championship. Considering how the season ended in Philadelphia, from that day to this point, it has been a rousing success for Shant Bay and this group. It was a long path to get here, but the work works if you just keep stacking up days, keep working every day. Going into this year with the guys that are here to build this foundation, we’re trying to lead this group to the Super Bowl. I, you know, I think we got the right pieces. You do walk these halls and you see these teams that accomplish great things. There’s an element of responsibility to be special. This was part of the beginning. This is when things started to get interesting for me. It takes me back to a much simpler time. The connection that we formed translates to the field. Y’all know it always come down to us, man. We built for this. Everything we built for this. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I can do whatever it is I need to do. I got the boys with me. Terrence, what’s up, man? You know what? You got a new team to be loyal to. The Los Angeles Rams. Hey, the work just begins now. We’re doing a ton of X’s and O’s right now. But in terms of bringing a team together, this is one of the better ways to ever go about doing that. The physicality that comes from our culture is is awesome. Doesn’t feel real sometimes that the people are wearing my jersey. I think it’s got to occur authentically and organically. This locker room, it’s a bunch of different personalities, but there’s a similar how they move, what they’re about as a human being. It’s almost like a dream of mine being able to have them out there. I wanted to play long enough to where she was old enough to kind of get to experience it and remember it. They’ve been battling it. That’s the standard. Once the pads come on, it’s the closest thing to a real game. You’re not just tagging off no more. Like you hear the past pop behind the scenes, the high level of detail from the top down. This is something I dreamt of ever since I was a little kid to put on that jersey to go represent what it means to carry on that legacy. [Music] I’m interested in how can we be the best version of the 2025 Rams. I couldn’t be more excited about being able to get started. But this is a new chapter. Let’s continue writing this story the way that we want with an enjoyment and a sense of urgency every single day. [Music] Thanks for watching.
