Rich Eisen Reacts to the Giants Naming Jaxson Dart Their Backup QB Over Jameis Winston

Interesting news. The yellow line that you see on the screen for first down, it’s unofficial as you know. Yeah, it will be unofficial. You’ve made that clear. Be careful. If anybody thinks that line is official, uh, shame on you. So, depth charts at present, apparently they’re unofficial. Oh, I don’t know what that means. I don’t know where a depth chart becomes official. teams are reporting depth chart info right now. I understand that. But it’s being called unofficial. The Giants have named Jackson Dart unofficially as the backup to Russell Wilson. Okay, that’s not surprising. I dude, it’s not Russ and then Jameus and then Jackson Dart. It’s Russ, then Jackson Dart, then Jamus, which means our second hour guest, Von Miller. Mhm. Let’s say somehow someway he gets to Russ and Russ winds up in a on a sideline for for a split moment. Blue tent. Oh, we don’t want blue tent. Blue tent. Blue 10 serious. Sorry. I just on a sideline. Okay. So, we need somebody. We got to get Who’s taking the snap? It’s Jackson Dart. Is that what’s happening? because also that will start the conversation of how short of a um patience meter Brian Daval and the Giants have on Russ. You know what I mean? Like if you put Jamus there, it’s just like, “Hey everybody, stop screaming for the kid. Not ready. We’re not going to put him in.” But Dart being second unofficially, it so I understand you’re saying, “Yeah, makes sense because of what season he had.” Yeah. This is going to this is something one would say uh bears monitoring. Ryan Dable’s future is not tied to Russell Wilson. It’s tied to Jackson Dart. No, I understand that. But Russ, we’ve talked about it. At Washington, at Dallas, home for Kansas City. That is not easy, sir. Home for the Chargers, at New Orleans, home for Philadelphia, at our next guest’s home in Denver. And Cam Ward’s going to learn what that’s like on Sunday. And then at Philadelphia, home for San Francisco, at Chicago, home for Green Bay, at Detroit. That’s the first dozen weeks. And so you’re saying Dart is one potential snap away from having to run that gauntlet? I found that interesting. Yeah, he’s got to play at some point though, this season. Okay.

  1. If the defense is as good as Rich thinks it will be I think you want the QB that doesn't turn the ball over. Dart seemed like he could be that kind of QB. Jameis we know might throw for 450 yards, but it also might come with 5 picks

  2. Okay so I know he throws a lot to the opposition but why do I feel like the NFL has next to no love for Jameis Winston? The man is an absolute national treasure and he works. It's not like he just f*cks off when given opportunities. It just seems mean. And I know it's football but come on.

  3. Just another BAD move! No, CHRIS, he doesn't have to play this season. That's the point! As a Giant fan since 77, the move is to sit him this entire season unless there is some crazy emergency. Rich is right this time.

  4. It might actually be interesting to throw Dart and Winston in at different times for different occasions if God forbid Russ goes down. It sparked their pre season play . Who knows…unofficially

  5. Dart will be the starter sooner than later. Wilson leaves so many plays on the field that the Giants will figure out that they might as well have Dart play and have Wilson mentor him on the sidelines. Jameis is only there until another team needs an injury replacement. Who wants a QB with a 80.6 passer rating and was 44th in passing percentage? It was only the preseason but Dart was 32 -47, threw for 3 TD's and had no interceptions. The Giants just might have a QB.
