Pitcher Ray Kremer went the distance and picked up his 13th win. The Pirates played in front of 6,000 fans at Forbes Field, and the contest took only 1 and 1/2 hours to finish.
Shortstop Glenn Wright went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, while star center fielder Kiki Cuyler added two hits and a run batted in, finishing the day with a .357 batting average.
Kremer doesn’t get enough attention when there are discussions about the best ever starting pitchers for the Pirates. He got a very late start in his MLB career, either at age 29 or 31 in 1924 for the Pirates. Prior to his debut with Pittsburgh, he had spent many seasons plying his trade in the Pacific Coast League.
