It’s game two for the University of Louisville football team.
The Cardinals beat Eastern Kentucky University 51-17 last weekend in the opener and will now face James Madison on Friday at 7 p.m. in L&N Stadium.
James Madison is the preseason favorite in the East Division of the Sun Belt Confernece. The Dukes return 43 letterwinners and nine starters from last year’s team, which finished 9-4 overall, 4-4 in Sun Belt play, and won the Boca Raton Bowl. JMU has added 55 newcomers, including 31 transfers and 24 high school seniors.
It’s the second year under coach Bob Chesney, who replaced Curt Cignetti when he left for Indiana. Chesney is in his 16th year as a head coach and holds a career 120-50 overall record, having had previous head-coaching stops at Holy Cross (2018-23), Assumption (2013-17), and Salve Regina (2010-12).
The Dukes beat Weber State 45-10 last weekend.
