Surprising Broncos Roster Changes Revealed!

What’s up people? Y’all fired up or what? Man, we are like four days away from the Broncos first pre first regular season game. Look at that. Against the Tennessee Titans and they are not done making some moves. We have signed a couple of players to the practice squad of note. One of them a few days ago. One of them as soon as yesterday. And they’ve also released their depth chart. So, we’re going to talk about all that. What’s significant about any of this news. So, if you all love Denver Bronco sportsmen, uh be sure to hit the like button, subscribe to the channel, check it out, and uh hit me up in the comments. I’d love to hear from all you guys. So, without further ado, man, why don’t we just go ahead and get right into it. So, the Broncos had released their initial depth chart. Right now, obviously, one thing, you know, you know, from the history, especially with Shawn Payeyton, is that you take a lot of this with a grain of salt, but here’s a couple things of note, uh, that I had noticed. All right, so Tyler Bedet being the number three back over Jill McGloin, and I actually think that there’s a lot of truth to that. It’s kind of interesting to see that they put that on there. Um that it is going to be Tyler Bedet over Julia Mclofflin. Now, I think it’ll be very much game plan specific as to who ultimately gets the jersey because if you notice, Jill Mclofflin will be involved in some other special teams stuff, which was a little bit of a surprise. Otherwise, really across the board, man, you don’t really see much um surprises there. You do see Pat Bryant as the technical first backup behind Courtland Sutton, uh Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin there, and Trent Sherfield as your wide receiver. Five. Nothing really um of surprise there. Uh you know, not taking anything else to account otherwise. Yeah, man. I mean, like we always thought from the offensive line standpoint, Alex Pelchesky is going to be This was a little bit interesting. He’s going to be the full-time backup swing guard according to this. Now, if Mike McGllinchi were to go down in a game, I do believe Paul Chesy would probably be the one that steps in. But is this the year that if if if Mike McGllinchi has to miss multiple games, is this the year that they actually put out Frank Crumb and they feel comfortable with him being the backup right tackle? We know that Matt Per is going to be uh the backup left tackle. He’s also extremely versatile in in a sense that he could also play guard. So, it’ll be interesting to see who doesn’t get the game day uh active tags, right? I think obviously in week one Nate Atkins will be one of the inactives, but are they going to make any of the linemen inactive? My guess would be that it’s going to be Frank Crumb because if you needed somebody to step in at right tackle, PCI can do so. Obviously, Matt Perk can as well and he can also play left tackle. So, you’ve got Palesi that can kind of play all the guard positions in addition to the tackle spots. So, nothing really uh noteworthy there. A lot of people are freaking out when you come down to the defensive side because they’re looking at it and they’re like, “How is Jade A Baron, you know, a backup?” And he was a first overall pick or he’s a first round pick for us. Nothing to stress out, yo. You know, you can see that he’s the backup outside corner and he’s also the backup slot. Jade Baron is probably going to be playing more snaps than our starting nickel and Jaquan McMillan this year. He’s gonna be a true, you know, um, kind of Swiss Army knife that I’m so excited to watch how VJ ultimately plays with him. Sorry, I don’t know why I’m going up. Um, and then otherwise, again, across the board, nothing too noteworthy here as well. Um, that’s I think very surprising. I’m going to get down to the special teams because this was a little bit interesting for me. So, backup punt returner is Riley Moss. Look at that. I did not think he’d be the backup punt returner. In fact, I was actually curious who the backup punt returner would be. Should there need to be a backup or should, you know, if we initially thought Marvin Mims could miss week one. But it looks like it is Riley Moss and Jal Mclofflin is the backup kick returner or the second kick returner next to Marvin Mims with Tyler Bedet. So, I think what’s going to happen there on the kick return game is for the day for the games that Jal is inactive, Bedet will be back there. Otherwise, you don’t have to you don’t want to have to worry about that. that you put Riley Moss Moss back there from the part return standpoint, but I thought that was really interesting. Some new some noteworthy stuff that we don’t really pay a lot of attention to, but I think is very um worth looking into. All right, now number two here for the noteworthiness, shout out to Mike for this is this was this was on uh this was yesterday, September 2nd. The Broncos had uh tried out, you know, it looks like seven different guys. Uh, Tyrion Davis Price, a former third round running back, formerly of the 49ers. Uh, they tried him out. Bryson Green, wide receiver. Messiah Swinson, unbelievable name, a tight end. Feyer Thomas, another great name, receiver. Samar, who from what I remember kind of had some some flashes when he was with the Packers. Uh, Cole Turner, a tight end, and Deuce Vaughn, who I really liked coming out of Kansas State, man. Little small jitterbug guy. So, two running backs, two receivers, two tight ends. Pretty interesting how they structured that. They ultimately ended up signing Bayer Thomas, which was a little bit of a surprise to their practice squad. They cut Quinton Newsome and so they’ve added another wide receiver. We’ll see. Those things are all fluid. I don’t have too much information about Theer Thomas, just kind of offhand. He’s a player that um was went undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft and spent, you know, really two full or the yeah, two full seasons on the practice squad for the Vikings. He hasn’t played yet in a game. He’s a 6′ guy, 195 pounds. So, not the biggest receiver, not very small, could be a slot guy, could be an outside guy, but interesting nonetheless to know, you know, that they had brought that in. and why did they look at adding from a, you know, positional standpoint a receiver over a tight end or a receiver or a running back? So, just something to note. I think the Broncos are actively always going to be looking for some uh tight ends to add and some running backs to add. Um, but from all accounts now, it looks like Blake Watson will return back to the practice squad once the injury settlement that we had paid him out for kind of and he’s back and healthy. I think after week three or week four. So, look out for that. Speaking of tight ends that the Broncos ended up bringing in and signing to their practice squad, as well as the 17th guy, that is Patrick Mortg, right? He is an Australian player. Uh, and I’m going to pull up a little bit noteworthy stuff on him and then I’ll I’ll I’ll share a really important video. But he’s an interesting interesting signing. So, I always love it when you can go out there and get some international guys that went through the international program because it’s like getting a guy for free. You’re getting an additional 17th spot on your practice squad. So, kudos to them. And if you’re going to do it, given how the Broncos roster is, I would always prefer for it to be a tight end. And for a guy that’s an absolute freak of nature when it comes to his um measurables, man. I mean, you’re talking about a kid that is 6’6, 250 pounds. He’s absolutely shredded out of his brain. Um, and he’s very, very athletic. Now, him being on the practice squad is great. He was really making a lot of plays according to a lot of Jaguars beat reporters before he broke his leg last year and then they brought him back for the practice squad before they ultimately cut him. But here’s what I thought was really interesting, man, uh, about this whole ordeal was Evan Ingram talked about this when he was with the uh, Jaguars. And I I’ll just play the video so you can kind of hear you can see what he says in terms of the uh the subtitles, but he said he’s a naturally gifted athlete, really humble, really really humble kid. Um and then he says that was just here and uh ready to learn to attack the opportunity that he was given. And he just continued talking about how unbelievably gifted he is. Truly a gifted guy built for a football player. and he really liked what he was bringing in terms of, you know, his dedication and what he would be able to uh bring to the to the meeting rooms as well. So, it’s awesome, man. You know, listen, there’s probably a really low chance that he’s going to end up becoming a player for you, but if you’re excited if you were excited about the Caleb Loner draft pick and you were excited that we were able to retain Caleb Loner onto the practice squad, there’s no reason why you should be excited about Caleb Loner and not this guy. this guy at least has a lot more experience, which isn’t really saying much actually playing football, and he’s got really similar measurables and all that kind of stuff, too. So, I’ll take two guys and hope one of them between uh Mortgage and Loner end up hitting. So, that’s kind of the latest news, man. I’d love to know you guys’ thoughts below. I think that it’s all about just prepping for the Titans. Now, I’m going to do a deep deep dive into their roster, to the teams, into some of the key matchups, and we’ll have a full breakdown video probably ready by Friday. I am anxiously anticipating all of the new number changes. We’ll see if we get any news on that. But otherwise, man, that’s all I got for y’all today. Appreciate you tuning in. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. And uh peace.

The Broncos added two new faces to the practice squad and released their official depth chart. What are the surprises and does it actually mean anything?
