[Charania] Restricted free agent Cam Thomas is signing a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer to return to the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell ESPN. Sides were unable to reach a new deal so the QO gives Thomas a full no-trade clause and 2026 unrestricted free agency with 10+ cap space teams

Wow that’s a shocker. Kids a legit scorer surprised they didn’t lock him up
Bad omen
Just can’t overpay roleplayers in the current CBA
Why is this posted here?
Makes total sense he’d be the first to do this. His opinion of himself is way different than the leagues’s. Grimes might be in same boat which would suck to lose him as a player/trade chip but hopefully he’s smarter than that.
Damn that’s crazy. How is this sixers news?
Why would you post that here and do it like this
I was scared that we signed Cam Thomas for a second
If I’m the Nets, what incentive do I have to help you now? I would barely play him. They could have at least done one deal for more money and no “no-trade clause”
Not sure what the meaning of the picture is in the headline, all I see is a bucket.
Wow 6m and we pay Maxey 40m to do the exact same thing.
Some team will pay him next year and regret it by year 2 of the deal
Wow so the first domino finally falls
For everyone asking what this has to do with Sixers, for me this is interesting as we have Grimes pretty much in the same position as Cam Thomas… (among two or three other RFA still unsigned and struggling to make a deal with their respective teams).
This signing is further evidence there is no market out there, so teams are definitely only competing with themselves for their RFA’s this off season…
This weakens Grimes’ position just a tiny bit more.
Does it mean he’ll follow suit and take up his qualifying offer?
Unbelievable. He should have at least sign 1yr $20M deal and allowed himself to be traded….I imagine Grimes will do a 1yr deal now too
Drive Grimes’ bargaining power down to zero. We can’t fuck ourselves more just because we’re fucked. Don’t pay him. Prove it or lose it.
If we sign Grimes to a QO and not a team controlled deal these past 2 offseasons are some some of the worst by a front office in Sixers history.
Just nothing but bleeding talent and signing Tobi 2.0
We don’t need grimes for the price he wants. We have plenty of guards who can score
Owners going to make a point with anyone who does this to not set precedent
How many players need to lose this bet before guys actually understand how stupid this is. Losing your bird rights effectively means you lose access to like 2/3rds of the free agency market. In this era, teams just don’t make a priority of clearing cap space to sign supporting cast type player to contracts over the MLE
