Gabe Davis: “I Love This Team” | Buffalo Bills
Yeah. Yeah. It felt uh felt a little weird the first day coming back, but um coming out today and watching the boys practice and being able to go through the whole system definitely, you know, feels normal for sure. It’s a happy to be back. Um I mean, honestly, I just my whole thing was I just never really truly got to get healthy. Um, I had, uh, hurt my knee here the last, uh, last, uh, regular season game against Miami and my knee just never really got back 100% and, you know, just was really struggling with um, trying to go full speed and not being able to be the player that I know I could be in Jacksonville. And um, obviously in week 10, tore my knee and going through that whole process, I never really had a major injury like that. So definitely uh, stressful. Um, but you know, it’s I’m just, you know, happy to be back in in Buffalo. I mean, this is a great opportunity here. Obviously, the team’s great. Um, I have history here. So, you know, just happy to be, you know, in a spot where I’m comfortable. Um, I’m feeling pretty good. I feel like I’ll be out there, you know, soon. Just taking it day by day right now. Not really, um, not really deciding when it’s going to happen. It’ll just happen when it does. So, but I feel I feel pretty good. Why was this place like you could kind of come back to get comfortable and get healthy? Uh, just because with my injury and everything, uh, having to jump into a season late, uh, just felt like just already knowing the system, knowing the guys, you know, just knowing the whole community here makes it a lot more easier for me in this transition. So, I mean, I I love a lot of these guys here. I love this team. Um, I have a lot of history here like I said before and a lot of did a lot of great things here and just was easy easy decision. How close I know you’re on a different team and right like you’ve got your own stuff going on but a lot of the theme we’ve gotten from guys who come back is like I found myself watching the game and screaming and rooting for them. Yeah, I wasn’t really watching too many games honestly. Um, I didn’t get to catch too many games. Uh, but I when when they were in the playoffs, yeah, for sure. I was watching them and supporting those guys hoping they could do what they normally do and definitely wanted to come back and be a part of it. So, that’s why I’m here. I know this team is special. It’s always been just trying to go, you know, be a part of that team that gets a Super Bowl. He said obviously you’re not the first person started to do this and come back even just this year with Phillips. last year. What is it about this team and this organization that is attractive enough for you guys to be willing to back your hand? Um, I feel like it’s just feel like it’s a family here. You know, I mean, I got a solid group of guys here that I consistently, you know, can call my brother and I know they’ll do anything for me. And, you know, you just build so much here in such little time. But, um, I don’t know. It’s just it’s not really a business around here. It’s like everybody’s connected um from the top down and it’s hard to find places like that. So, really since you’ve left Buffalo, that’s a long time mentally. Is that really taken a toll on you to be having both drag on this long? Yeah, for sure. Um you know, it just never really got back right. And last year, I wasn’t able to run and really cut the way I’m I normally could or wanted to. And it definitely took a toll on me for sure because I just was thinking that nothing was like it wasn’t too major to really do anything about it. I just kind of have to keep pushing through it and you know it figure itself out and then end up popping my whole knee. So um that kind of answered the question for me myself and I feel like this is just like a reset and be able to kind of start fresh, get healthy and get back to the guy I know I can be. Willie now of him, you know, he’s he’s gone from that player to now sort of a leader in in that room. How have you seen him transition into that role maybe on the field and and off the field in the locker room? Yeah, I mean, Khalil definitely is talking way more than he used to back in the day. He’s he’s always been quiet, but he definitely talks a little bit more, but just to see him out there when he’s out there running routes and going through team, he’s just playing playing like he’s playing in a game, and it just looks professional. And I’m happy to see him doing what he’s doing. He’s such a great dude and um to be able to get what he got and to still be here is awesome. I mean, he deserves everything he gets. It’s a pretty different group of receivers than last time you were here. What’s it been like just getting to know some of the guys who are new to the team? Yeah. No, I’m still getting to know those guys, but it’s a great room. Um I like uh all the guys in there are great. Um we got a whole bunch of different characters in there, so definitely going to be fun to uh figure that out the next, you know, this season. And but that’s what I was literally just talking about how crazy it is how the receiver room is, you know, a complete 180 from, you know, what I came in and saw. So to be able to be a part of this new group is definitely, you know, something special throughout while you were gone. What’s it like just being back with him? I know even just like hanging out in the locker room and stuff like that. Yeah, it’s good. I mean, Josh is he’s a great dude, you know, love the guy. He’s like a brother to me and we always stay close even when I was gone which I wasn’t surprised by. I mean I stayed close with a lot of the guys around here. Um I feel like I built we built a lot of great connections here. Um but it’s good it’s good to be back. I mean he’s the MVP of the league, you know, the best quarterback to have on your team and I was blessed enough to be able to play with him the years that I did and you know now I’m back. So it’s going to feel like it’s going to be good. Feeling good. I know potentially just ballparking. Do you have an an idea as to when you might be able to be, you know, full go in terms of like football activities? Um, yeah, we don’t really know yet. Um, they’re putting a plan together for me to figure out what they think is best. Uh, but we’re still kind of breaking that down and trying to figure out. situation like this before. Did last year change your perspective just like being in the NFL? Um, I would say the the injury changed my perspective. Um, uh, I feel like whether if I was here or somewhere else, I would have still, you know, kind of felt similar when it came to the injury. I just never had that. Um, something so major happened to her, I literally couldn’t do anything. And you know what really kept me going honestly was um I was thinking about my brother. You know, he had three he tore his knee three times and had four surgeries and then popped his Achilles. And you know, every single time he he fought back to to keep going and you know, this is my first time ever doing it. And you know, it definitely takes a toll on your mental and have me feeling, you know, down some days. But I always go back and refer to him because he was the one that showed me that, you know, no matter what happened, you just got to keep pushing. And, you know, what happened to me is nothing compared to what happened to him. And I just got to uh keep that in my mind and, you know, keep fighting for my family and be able to play this game as long as I can.
Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis met with the media after practice on September 4, 2025 and discussed returning to Buffalo, why he feels so connected to the team and his teammates, and how his brother motivated him in returning from injury.

Gabe Davis we needed you so much last year playoffs Josh Allen couldn't use his arm to throw it far since we had no threat for that! Our WR was so lacking last year we needed to rely on the run game and scheme plays..
