As a masshole married to a Chicagoan, and having lived her since 2014, bears front office management has no room to talk, there is an article from the tribune, maybe in 2019? About how they secretly snuck around the country to scout TRUBLOWSKI…..
They blew that pick, Kevin white in 2015 Leonard Floyd didn’t fit their scheme. Roquan smith got a DUI that wasn’t publicly acknowledged crashing his car in 2018. How did I know? Close friend’s husband of my wife work at a large Chicago area dealership. The car he crashed was purchased from them.
Then they take Justin fields, fucked it up even more by trading a 2022 1st rounder from the giants to GET HIM. Sorry bears., I love ya because my wife is Chicagoan, but get fucked when it comes to scouting and developing QB’s
Yeah cause the bears are soooooo good at drafting QB’s throughout the history of the franchise. Personally, I think Caleb Williams is extremely overrated.
Bears aren’t a professional organization. Who cares. These same staff members weren’t even working with the QB they *did* take, so this story really means nothing
What makes this funny is after this Drake Maye went into Chicago and beat them while Caleb Williams shit himself to a Jerod Mayo & Demarcus Covington defensive game plan
I am not here to defend the Patriots scouting department; they probably have had many of the exact same type of circle-jerk meetings about players they have passed on and been wrong about, particularly in the last 10 years.
That said, who the fuck cares what the bears front office think about QB talent?

I’m a broncos fan (I know) but I’m a huge Maye fan. Is what they saw in college. The kid made some damned good throws and plays last year on a very young team. I think you guys got a good one.
As funny as this is, it’s also a pretty good window into why the Bears suck so consistently. How are you supposed to properly scout talent when you can’t even give a contrarian opinion to what your boss thinks?

Funny enough I laughed watching Caleb Williams tape last season and seeing that he got sacked 68 times (tied for third most in nfl history) because he refused to let go of the ball

Maye is already a better processor and is more accurate than Williams. Williams college tape was full of examples of him holding onto the ball too long, not processing quickly, taking sacks and playing hero ball to make up for it. He played like a poor man’s Mahomes. And guess what, that’s exactly how he played his rookie year. So these guys see what they want to see to justify their own opinions. You can rationalize anything by picking and choosing certain film clips.

Drake Maye would be a consensus 1 overall in many, if not most recent drafts. Any coach or scout who puts him outside the top 10 picks, let alone outside the first round, was criminally bad at their job
