GILAS PILIPINA vs NEW ORLEANS GAME TODAY September 7, 2025 – Philippines Shocking Big Run in 4Q! 2k

New Orleans Pelicans versus Gillis Pilipinas. Who will win this World Basketball Game battle? Let’s go. Hello and welcome to Saturday night with the NBA on 2K Sports. An exciting game on the way. I’m Brian Anderson here with Grant Hill, Steve Smith, and Alli Leforce. We’ll see the New Orleans Pelicans facing the home team. And the starting lineup for the Pelicans. Cavan Looney out there with Williamson. Then there’s Jaylen McDaniel. Then there’s Murray. And it’s cool at the shooting guard position. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. Look, guys get away with this all the time. But on this occasion he got caught. Now here’s P at the elbow. Murray right wing pass to P. Murray surveying the D. Five to shoot and P gets him to go. Murray is capable of getting doubledigit assists anytime he’s on the floor because he is an unselfish point guard. He’s covered by Murray. To the wing right side. And there’s the drive. Brownley and two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content. It’s going to be on Zion Williamson. Personal foul. First team foul. At the line for your home team, Brownley. shooting two. And he knocks down the first one. That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. For a star like him, you get lots of opportunities at the line and he’s great at cashing them in. Oh, here’s P. Oh my goodness. The slam. Oh. And he makes no mistake on the slam dunk. Oh, he’s putting on a show for these fans. I can’t believe he pulled that one out in the course of an actual game. We play just over a minute here in the first. The pass to Brown. The three-pointer is right on target. Well, he doesn’t need huge assist numbers, but he won’t waste a wide open opportunity. Here’s Murray. Can’t connect from short range. Look, the defense was locked in on him there. They know how dangerous he can be and they guarded him perfectly. Power down with both hands and one step ahead of the defense with that solid screen. And then Greg, the monster dunk to finish it off. Great chemistry on display. He understood where to put the screen in order to free up his teammate. Going to go that time. Look, I’ll give him an A for effort for trying to dunk through the defense, but maybe he should ease up the last a little bit. And we talk about the importance of versatility. He’s really got it all on the offensive end. Here’s Pool after Jordan Clarkson’s bucket. Pool kicks to Williamson. Murray the pass to Looney and contact on the shot. So he’ll be shooting free throws here. First personal foul. First officials are all over that one. And he’s got his first free throw of the game. Keon Ludy. Heat. Heat. And that one falls for Looney. And so Looney nails both of them. It’s always nice to see a big fella be able to knock down some free throws and make teams pay for the line. Throws it up high. Nice job by Carson moving the ball there. His coaches would like to see a little more. And so Pool will bring it up for the Pelicans. It’s a five-point game. Here’s Murray. That one misses. And and typically he has the touch to finish when he’s in tight, but not sure on that position. Brown. Good. Nice play. And you can see they’re gathering momentum. Yeah, but they can’t relax. They’ve got to keep building on this lead because it is not safe. Basket. Good. Even inside and against contact. Murray stays flexible and gets to his finish. Pass to smooth. Just under three and 1/2 minutes gone here in the first quarter. He’s covered by takes that one up and powers it through. Wow. And that sort of showmanship is just deflating right now to a team trying to get back into a game like this. Ouch, Greg. That is definitely an emphasis jam. A big apostrophe or exclamation point, maybe even a question mark. A nice shot by McDaniel. And they don’t want to get in a habit of giving him open looks from three. First quarter still, but not who you want to leave open. passes the smooth doesn’t go for him. Good D by Williamson. Pelicans trailed by five and he loss it up. The shot by Looney and that was lining up to be a huge alley but they just couldn’t connect to that. Just go to show how tight your timing needs to be on this kind of play. That first time out of the game called for New Orleans. Adjustments are a part of the game and the coach sees something he doesn’t like here. Yeah, this is a good opportunity to get your group together and make sure everyone is on the same page. Cool against Clarkson. Pool the pass to M. Fires from way outside. Smooth with a rebound. Not quite enough defense that time around. Just lucky he was off. Brownley. Oh, nice finish. And that one is stuck right through. That’s an oldfashioned rim wrap. Just a remarkable jam. These fans jaws are on the ground right now. And the Yes. Yes, it is. An illegal screen. When a pick like that is questionable and creates that much of an advantage for the offense, you have to blow the whistle. You got to blow the whistle when it’s that obvious. Great call there by the official. Now here’s Clarkson. And there’s the whistle. The illegal screen. Pelicans fall. Coming in the four team number 15. Pelicans trailed by nine. Hey yo, right there. And here is P. Rebounded by Clarkson. Pull from the top of the key. That one’s a miss. His third shot of the game. He’s made one of them. Here’s P. Wow. Way to get up. And Kevin, even though they’re down, he’s still looking to do the spectacular. And he did. Well, maybe this is the best time to do it. Here’s Smooth. Nice feet with the layup off the mark and and he has definitely been struggling in this quarter. Yeah, he needs to mix things up on the offense. He simply just can’t keep missing shots at this rate because he’s destroying his teammates. Fantastic positioning there to contest that one. Textbook defense. Take a good angle to the shooter and bother the release to the inside. There’s a second chance effort. He takes it off and puts it in for 34. Smooth got his second basket of the game. That’s the blue collar bucket right there. Grown man basket. Put in the work. He’s got a second chance. Shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. Foul becoming a consistent offensive weapon. Murray finding ways to Pelicans get their third and fourth free throw shot of the night. The first free throw is good. Bottoms. He’s checked in. Cru smooth. Enzo Murray nails both of them. Now here’s Clarkson. tries it for 19 and it’s Looney with the rebound. Pelicans trailed by seven. Here’s P. Score the basket. His fourth. He’s only missed one of his five shots tonight. And they’ve done well at taking advantage of some late defensive rotations and getting the ball in the paint. and Rudy sends it back. Dishes it to Murray. Pass to McDaniels. Some nice passing here by New Orleans. Pool kicks to McDaniel. Greens the three-pointer. McDaniels got a couple of threes now in the first for the Pelicans. You How can you forget about him? I mean, he’s not going to miss that open of a look. He lobbs up the alley pass trying to go for an alleyoop but excellent defense and anticipation there to stop it and it’s blocked and it’s going to be out of bounds. The Pelicans will retain possession. New Orleans ball coming the floor for your home team Thompson. Williamson outside. Clarkson against Pool. Six to shoot. No one near Williamson as he lets it go. And again, New Orleans with the triple. The rare three from Williamson. What a confidence booster that could be. Time out. Time out. Trying to stem the tide here. On the wrong side of a scoring run here, we might see a lineup change. I I’ll be pretty curious. Thompson in the corner. 149 left to play in the first quarter. Off to a good start as he hits his first shot attempt. And I’ve been impressed with the unselfishness, but also getting guys the ball where they can do something with it. His court vision has been on display in this one. He’s doing a tremendous job just orchestrating the offense beautifully. Five on the clock, wide open air for Murray. And again, New Orleans with the triple. This is something that we’ve seen Murray continue to work on over the years. His three-point shot has improved every year. Defended by Looney Clarkson against tries again. A shot by Clarkson. No good. and not allowing the shooter even an inch of breathing room on that one. I’m sure they’ll think twice about shooting against him next one. And cool gets it to go. If you give him an inch of space, he’s going to make you pay. Clarkson surveilling the floor. Thompson outside for Murray. Rejected by Murray. A stellar defender Murray is very capable of coming up. Personal foul. Second team foul at the line for two. Number 15. Shooting two. And the first one at the line is good. He’s perfect from the line this time. And here’s New Orleans now. They’re on a 17-6 run. 6 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Thompson against Murray. Here’s McDaniels. There’s Looney misses from short range and the activity he shows around the rim is why he is such a respected defender. Yeah, you can see why he’s established that reputation, strong understanding of how to defend at the rim. Oh, just a picture perfect alley. You got to love that. A little surprised, Greg, he didn’t go for the big slam, but it works just the same. tie game and some big points being put up on the board as we wrap up the first and back in a moment as we’ll get underway with quarter number two. Some good action already in this one, but a fairly even matchup after the first quarter of play. Guys, what’s your take on the home team so far? Well, when you control the glass, you control the second chance opportunities on both ends. And rebounding numbers, sometimes we overlook them, but they can have a big effect on the outcome. And so here is New Orleans. Murray. The pass to Williamson. Murray against Thompson. Unloads from 13. Almost, but it rolls out. Fantastic positioning there to contest that Texas defense. Take a good angle to the shooter and bother the release. And for New Orleans, you’ve got Williamson. Jordan P is out there with early. Then there’s Jaylen McDaniels. And it’s Looney in at the center locking down the middle. New Orleans on D. Here’s Smooth and he drops the way up off the glass. Number 34. Smooth’s got six points. But how about how he sets his man up there, runs him right into the screen and then gets the basket up top. And oh, what a play. He just ps the block. Ronley off target from outside. Good job by the D to stay with him and make that a tough three. Levas Nepur and around a minute gone here in the second quarter. Kicks to McDaniels. No good on the three. McDaniels gone. Just 206 shooting. 33%. It’s tipped. Stolen by McDaniels. Pass Deloney and it’s blocked. here. Smooth. He has six defended by Rooney. There’s Bottoms back six. Pass to Smooth. Plenty of space. Good as the jump shot. Smooth’s got four points now in the fourth. Number 28. They’ve been looking out of sync offensively. Yeah, that their offense has ground to a standstill. Looney kicks to Pool. Williamson outside. Alvarado pays it to McDaniels. It from three-point range. McDaniels got his third bucket of the night. You can’t lose a shooter like him on the court. The ball will find its way to him and he will drill a three each time. Here’s Smooth. Eight points for him. And then here comes he goes right over top Williamson. And guys, I don’t know that this is the time for that kind of flare in a close game. The important thing is to get the two points, not necessarily the dramatic. Oh, come on. He had to go for that, didn’t he? My goodness. here in the second quarter. We’ve played a little over two and a half minutes now. Over to the left wing. Alvarado good and the assist goes to Williamson. And every year, Williamson seems to take another leap as a distributor. Great pass on that one. Brown outside. Brownley. They get it again. He’ll be around the rim. Defense has always got to know his whereabouts. Pelicans trailed by three. out to the right wing from outside the arc and another three for New Orleans. And when you’ve got a big man who can shoot from distance like that, what a huge advantage. Always going up for the LU here and stolen by Williamson. Alvarado passes to Looney. to the left wing. Alberado finds P. Shot clock at five. Releases and no good. Had a chance to take the lead there. And usually that’s a bucket for him. But look, nobody’s perfect in the mid-range. And it’s thrown down hard with both hands. Taking matters into his own hands. Yeah, we didn’t expect to see that kind of finish. A point guard getting up like that, boy, that is special. Here’s Alvarado. He takes it in. That’s tipped. Brownley McDaniels defender and it’s McDaniels with the rebound. The Pelicans trail. floats it out for Williamson. Difficult to guard and pick and roll. Zion’s combination of mobility and quickness along with that strength just so lethal. And Eric Spolster wants a timeout. And now your BF See that defenses? Oh, one more. One more. Pass to smooth. Down to five on the shot clock. His shot is good. Making a perfect two for two from the floor. Nice job getting inside for the layup. Got the deep thinking jump shot. Gave a little pump fake and then off to the races. Pull the pass to Looney. No good that time. Some solid defense from Brown to the right side. The pass to Bottoms. Front pass the arc. They get the rebound. smooth. He hand that one home. Good to see a player going all out for the games this time. You know, G8, he knows what his job is, controlling the offensive glass. He’s just giving them everything he has. It’s his teammates appreciate and enjoy playing with him. And you can see Zion’s confidence continues to grow, especially when he’s hitting shots like that. It’s time now to hear from our Hall of Fame reporter, David Alder. That’s the latest, David. Thank you, guys. Ryan Williamson is a force to be reckoned with, but coach Willie Green said he’s just scratching the surface. He’s going to continue to get better over and over again. He’s making the right play, Kevin. All right, DA. Thanks. P on the follow. K’s got 12 points in the game. I love the determination he showed. They’re getting themselves into good position under the glass with the presence of mind to know just where the rebound was going to come down. Well time. He had a nice open look right there. Justin points in the game so far. You can’t lose a shooter like him on the court. The ball will find its way to him and he will drill a three each time. Now here’s Williamson. Eight points for him. This blows. Dunan is good. He’ll have a chance at the line to make it a three-point play. And he’s got his first chance at the line here. And he finished last season right around 71% from the line. So not exactly his best percentage. Looking who’s out there now for the Pelicans. Trey Murphy comes in for McDaniels. And Murray subbed in for Jose Alvarado. Well, with his attacking style, Williamson spends a lot of time at the foul line. Murray against Thompson has to smooth. Back to Thompson. out to the right wing. Clock at four. Here’s Bottoms and too long on the shot. And so Pool will bring it up for the New Orleans Pelicans. They trail by one and it’s blocked and they recover and the shot goes in. Now Thompson passes it to Bottoms. Back to Thompson. Pass to smooth dishes to Brown. And there’s the pass to Clarkson. Pulls it up. A put back. It’s good on the foot. This tug-of-war game continues. And guys, that’s lucky number seven already. coverage after Looney right through the knee for the layup. Looney’s got seven now in this four. Looney’s gone three for seven from the floor so far tonight. Here’s Bottoms. The put back. He hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. just in a perfect position to grab that rebound and then get the put back. Murray against Thompson. Murray the pass to Looney. Williamson outside sinks the three-pointer. Williamson’s got 14. He can really stroke it from deep. You have to keep better tabs on him. Murray against Thompson has to smooth Bottoms still yet to score. Launches a three. Murray no good. And you can tell he thought he had a little more space, but the defender was right here did a great job closing the gap, making the shooter feel uncomfortable. Oh, an aggressive move and fantastic finish. Trying to send a message with that slam, I think. Now, here’s P. He’s got 12. Here’s Williamson. And the dunk by Williamson. And Zion able to convert on that second chance opportunity. 19 seconds left to play in the first half. Clarkson against Pool. Now here’s Clarkson. Not a lot of room. Let it go with a three. And no good that time. And guys, it can tie in Williamson making things happen for New Orleans. 53. Put together quite a quart 13 points in all. And he looks to be planning for more. And we’ll be back with you shortly. and your youth this one. And now, the 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hello again, folks. Ernie Johnson here with Kenny the Jet Smith and Shaquille O’Neal. It’s the NBA on 2K Sports. And let’s talk the first half. Zion Williamson was on fire in the first half. He had 16 points, two steals, and five rebounds. This has been a bounceback game for him after some struggles their last time out. Kenny, your thoughts how the Pelicans are playing. Love to see a team grind with those offensive boards. They’re doing the dirty work and converting those possessions. It’s got to be demoralizing for the defense at this man. Big fella, let’s get your thoughts on the home team. Well, it’s been a big night for the guys up the bench so far. The scoring is giving a real spark. I think we can expect a few more minutes for the reserves than usual today. That’s all for now. Say goodbye to the folks. Thanks for joining us. Third quarter just about ready to begin. And in that first half, we saw a pretty tight battle. We’ll soon find out what sort of adjustments were discussed during the half. The way he was able to finish on the block was incredible there in that first half. The question now is will the defense keep letting him punish them inside or did coach have some new ideas for them. New Orleans in the lead. Passes it to Looney to the middle. He’s looking for pool and finds her. No good that time. And that was lining up to be a huge alleyoop, but they just couldn’t quite connect. Just go to show how tight your timing needs to be on this kind of play. And for the Pelicans, Jaylen McDaniels is out there with Williamson. Then there’s Jordan P. Then it’s Cavan Mooney. And it’s in the point guard position. A fine shooter from deep. Clarkson has a good feel for when to let it fly. Murray with it. Shoots it. He squares up and sinks it. Murray. Murray’s got nine points. A great competitive game so far. And from the look of it, this one could go right down to the wire. And for New Orleans, Zion Williamson is out there with Looney. Then there’s Murray. Then there’s Jordan P. And it’s McDaniels at the three. And how about the incredible defending on that alley? He absolutely hammered it down. The Pelicans trail Murray. The pass to McDaniels. And here is P. He’s got 12. Back to McDaniel. It’s stolen. Two free throws coming up. And they call the young foul. It’s going to be on Deonte Murray. First team foul at the line for your home team. Two shots. Two shots. First free throw is good. He hits both from the strut. 90 seconds now into the second half. Pass to Pool. Looney with it. Now here’s Pool. Back to Looney. Just five on the clock. It’s good. got 11 points. Well, you like guys who can work that in between area. Really keeps the defense honest. And when we talk about the numbers, the analytics for great shooters like him, pretty much any shot is a good shot. Rounds off from three-point range. And so Pool will bring it up for New Orleans. It’s a one-point game. He hits the back iron and sinks the shot. He’s got 14. Just so many lead changes. Nobody’s held an advantage for long. One up. Smooth. That’s good. Number 34. Smooth’s got 24 points. He knows his job on the glass and he does it well. Cleaning it up and sending it right back. Murray outside to McDaniel off target with his three. Definitely a situation you want to make sure you don’t get him too good by the look. A nice shot by Brown AJ. They didn’t have much of a problem getting the ball into the post that time. Now here’s P. He’s got 14. Murray outside and they call an illegal screen here. That’s going to draw a whistle every time down the floor. Not even close to being a legal screen. That’s a very avoidable turnover. You got to focus on the details. Inside and Prime throws it down hard. Oh, phenomenal alleyoop slam there. They are taking advantage of a team that looks lost out there down low and finished by McDaniel assisted. And how about the communication between teammates on that alley and that’s what you need to pull that thing off and foul on the shot. So he’ll get a chance at the line. First personal foul. Second team foul at the line for your home team. Number 12. The first one falls and he makes both free throws. Pelicans trail by five now. Murray. He’s got nine. Feeds it to Williamson. Good. And the assist goes to Murray. Williamson’s got 18 points in the game. Superb execution in the screen. Murray cutting the pass right through the defense and Rooney sends it back. Murray outside. Here he goes. Had a hand on it. There’s Clarkson. He’s got five. He kicks to Brown. Shot clock at six. Fires it up. And the rebound goes to the Pelicans. Looney’s got six rebounds now in the game. Williamson calls right in. He is eight for 11 with that shot. Oh, what a great game plan from them tonight. They keep getting it designed and Williamson keeps delivering. Now, here’s Brown. He’s got none. And the shot is good. These are exactly the kind of shots they want to generate each and every time down the floor. Now a timeout called by New Orleans. Eugene smooth really having a great game and he’s in a complete groove right now. I I don’t think they can stop him all together but but they at least need to make him work a little harder than he has been. So for the Pelicans Bay comes in McDaniel and Jones subbed in for Jordan P. And so it’s New Orleans with it. They trail by three. Now the pass to Murray. Oh, that’s blocked. And that’s out of bounds. New Orleans retain possession. The ball goes to New Orleans. Here’s Jones. Paloon just five to shoot. Rebound collected by Clarkson. Clarkson’s got his fourth rebound with that last one. Here tonight and that’s the kind of lead pass we’ve come to expect from him. Pelicans trailed by five. Jones kicks it to Looney. Murray outside. Banked in off the glass. Murray’s got four points in the quarter. A bigger point guard is 6’4. Murray has no issue scoring inside. Brown dishes to Clarkson to the left side wing and looks like the illegal pit was set. Gets right there to get their attention. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet weren’t set on that screen. Easy caught. Look, guys get away with this all the time, but on this occasion, he got caught. Looney pass it to Jones the 10-footer and it’s blocked by Brownley. He’s defended by Bay. Here’s Clarkson. It’s rebounded by New Orleans. A shot. Hey, no good. Yeah, but the hand in the face, it’s critical that you contest his shots every time down the floor. Passes it to gets deflected and now the Pelicans on the break. Here’s Looney. Goes back up and the layup is up and in. Looney. Looney’s got 13 points. And you have to like how they’re moving the ball right now. Snappy passes to ready shooters. It’s basketball 101, but boy is it working. Ryan shot is good. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the deep. Yeah, that just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting through the screen. Murray the pass to the dump to finish it off. A beauty. Oo, he put a little extra on that one. He does. He doesn’t usually finish soft either. Obviously, he can when necessary, but not that time. Now, here’s Clarkson. He has five to the paint for the lead and the layup is good. Looney’s got eight points in the quarter as we approach the fourth quarter. Still anyone’s ball game. Yeah, neither team able to create much of a remaining third. Two minutes. That misses off the back. Fantastic positioning there to contest that one. Textbook defense. Take a good angle to the shoulder and allow her to release. Second personal foul. First team foul. All right. Well, look at how the points have been generated so far. Scoring breakdown for the Pelicans. Their offense has been a welloiled machine. They’re moving the ball around, playing for one another, and just piling up assists. Two shots. And also, guys, how about the hustle we’ve seen on the boards? They’re getting after it and cashing in on second chance scoring opportunities. And that one falls for Jones. And so Jones nails both of them. A minute 50 left in the third quarter of the game. Over to the wing. Aster Clarkson. Brown outside. Shot clock at five. Fires the three and Jones pulls it down. Having a hand up in your face makes such a difference to a shooter. Yeah, that’s a good defender making a play and he does it without bound. Eight kicks to Muraloney good and the assist goes to Murray. Murray’s got four assists in the game. Saw the angles and led him right to the hoop with that pass. And the pass to Bottoms. Now here’s Clarkson. And that time also a miss shot. Williamson outside and it’s New Orleans scoring again. Loving the energy right now here in the third quarter as they try to take control of this game. Yes, this is a pivotal moment in this game. Those extra possessions right now, they just mean a little bit more. Here’s Bottoms. Zion Williamson making his last shot. Bottoms. Good work defensively by P. by seven. It’s going to be a goalending moment. So, they’ll pass the bucket. So close to getting blocked there. You can eliminate those calls because you’d rather have a guy playing aggressive instead of playing it safe. Yeah, the crowd immediately letting the officials hear it after that whistle. Jones against Clarkson. And the officials will call the illegal shooter again. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet weren’t set on that screen. Easy caught. Look, guys get away with this all the time, but on this occasion, he got caught. Deep two from Murray. No good on the last second attempt there. And so, guys, it’s Ryan Williamson making things happen for the Pelicans. He has really delivered at the offensive end. He’s torched him for 24 points so far. And we’ll be right back after this. And now we have a moment to uh reveal our State Farm assist of the game. And the winner today, the big fella here with the sweetest of dimes. What a plus it is to have a post player who’s got this ability to find. I feel like we’ve seen more slick passing big man in the league today than we’ve ever seen. And with three quarters behind us, let’s see what this fourth period holds in store for us. They’ve got bottoms. Thompson is out there with Jordan Clarkson. And there’s smooth. Now here’s Thompson. And dead on that time. Beautiful shot. Scotty Thompson. Murray with him. And the call on the shot that sends him to the line. We see it came in and game out. The Shante is ridiculously difficult to cover. Two shots. Shooting two free throw good. Murray Robinson Earles checked in for Williamson. good on both. And so here’s the home team. Nine-point game. Thompson passes to Clarkson. Out of bounds. New Orleans will take possession. That is just a careless turnover. You’ve got to be smarter in those exchanges. Pelicans leading by nine. Pool up top. He’s covered by folks. Jordan taking it to the rack with power hammering down the two hand slam. How about him in the play here in the fourth quarter. Clarkson outside. He was all alone on that one. And so Pruel will bring it up for the New Orleans Pelicans. Pass to Looney. Passes it to Murray. Gets to the rim for two with a D over him. Murray’s got the lead up to 11 now for New Orleans. And taking care of the ball has been a problem for him. That’s something they’ve got to fix. While the defense has been good, a lot of these turnovers have been unfa. solo alley. That That’s not something we see too often. Time perfectly. Caught the defense totally off guard. Now here’s Murray down low against cool. Pass to smooth and play stops whistle. What looks to be an illegal swing. That’s going to blow a whistle every time down the floor. Not even close to being illegal. That’s a very avoidable. You got to focus on the details. Now a timeout called by New Orleans. Fans, make some noise for your dance team. With a short break in the action, gives us a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge. Guys, I was able to catch the message Willie Green gave to his team. Now, he reminded his team, keep looking for a deep ball. If the three is there, take it. You’ve done a good job getting those looks, so keep taking them. Back to you guys. Thank you, David. Here’s Clarkson. The Pelicans make their last shot and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. First personal foul. Jordan Pool picks one up. And having become such a dangerous score, Clarkson draws a lot of attention and his fair share of fouls. first one falls for him. And a guy who’s bounced around the league a bit. Clarkson tightened up his game and now he is a key factor in what this team does. And both free throws good for Clarkson and give them credit for the work they’ve done at the line. Nothing new that they’re always impressive in terms of free throw shooting, but still worth mentioning. Got a piece of it. That’s six man of the year hustle by Clarkson. outworking the shooter and just locking him up out left to the wing. And that one was clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. Wow, he got whacked on that one. Shouldn’t be much debate there at the line for two. Morali got And the first one drops. Both shots good from the strike. New Orleans leading by seven. Murray outside. Driving to the basket. It’s tipped. He’s covered by Murray. There’s the pass. Back to Fson. Brown outside. Six on the shot clock and Rooney sends it back. Robinson and Earl the pass to Merl. A bit under three and a half minutes of pass here in the fourth. They get it back. Second shot opportunity. A shot by Looney. No good. And he did everything he could to make that shot as difficult as possible. Excellent D. avoided fouling and got in perfect position to alter that shot. Pass to Robinson Earl. Misses from close range inside. Oh, a nice defensive play to disrupt the Loop. Murray right side. He’s looking for Looney and Fiser. both of Murray continues to impress me, especially watching him dish it like that right there to the middle. Here’s Brown and finished off by Brown. How about the offensive rebound with a little extra punch on the You’re right, Greg, as they look to trim the deficit. Could we see them send a few more bodies to the boards from here on out? Maybe, just maybe. And he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming out. And with the offense getting right to the rim at T, they save the layup. At the line for the Falcons, Jeremiah Robinson Earl. Two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And he makes the first. And the Pelicans making a change here. Al Verono’s checked in. off on that one. So he goes one for two at the line. Here’s Clarkson and he dumps it down. Slick move by Clarkson getting around that inside contact to finish the shot. Pass to Robinson Clarkson against Pool. Here’s the feed to McDaniels. New Orleans moving the ball around. Here’s Alvarado. the three-pointer off the mark. Well defended that time. He’s a shooter that the D has to close down on quickly when he’s ready to pull the trigger. And you want him taking big shots for you in big moments. That one was as easy as it gets. Yeah, it’s clear why they go to him in these moments. They know he’s going to deliver for no good. And you could tell he thought he had a little more space, but the defender was right there. Did a great job closing the gap, making the shooter feel uncomfortable. And the paints in the Pelican lead is cut down at just two points and the bucket from Brown. And guys, all about hard work from this point on. And they’ve worked hard to create that high quality shot and then able to knock it down. Now here’s McDaniels and it’s blocked by Brown and they’re able to recover. The shot in the just not going to see him do that very often. Usually when he rises up there’s a guarantee it’s going down. Six to shoot with the steel. He couldn’t stay in bounds and that’s going to be a turnover. Some changes for New Orleans. Zion Williamson’s checked in for Jeremiah Robinson and Murray subbed in for Jose Alvarado to tie it up. It’s all even right in his wheelhouse looking to make the impact when it counts. And his team needs every bit of his production if they want to pull this one out. It is neck and neck here in the final period. And so here’s New Orleans. Here’s Smooth and trying for the go-ahead basket. It doesn’t go in. And so P will bring it up for the New Orleans Pelicans. They need this one. The shot will not fall. Some solid defense from Brown. And he loves it up toward the rim. Oh, and they get in the way of the alley. Not to be. Good play defensively to Williamson. And here is McDaniel. Pool up top. He’s covered by Clarkson. Five on the clock for three. Murray. Rebound collected by Clarkson. Clarkson’s got seven rebounds in the game. Covered by Williamson. Over in the corner. Brown. The fastest move two to take the lead and good 13 points in the second half. Players shrink when the pressure is for these now. A timeout called by New Orleans. They’re behind by two. 157 left in the fourth. And then let’s take a look at the New Balance player of the game. smooth. He deserves a lot of credit, but the Dday they played on him deserves a little bit of the blame as well. Even when he got hot, they didn’t do enough, I don’t think, to try and cool him off. And they’ve been passive when they needed to be aggressive. And boy, did he make them pay. 157 left here in the fourth quarter. Murray the pass to not loose under it and guarded by Mur defended by Rooney and no good. Murray outside the run misses the layup. There has been nothing for him this ever since halftime. He’s lost all of his touch. Out of bounds. New Orleans will take the ball. The elegance trail. Oh, and there’s the save. I want to see that again. Me, too. Just absolutely beautiful. He’s covered by M from 13. Got it. He just loves seeing a player with absolutely no fear. He knew what they needed here and was determined to deliver. Now here’s looking to get it going as yes tie game. That is a huge basket right there. There is no chance that this game is tied up without his offensive firepower. And so Eric Sporth calls timeout. Coach Tim Con wants to time out. Timeout Philippines team. Here’s Clarkson. Releases. They get the rebound. Smooth misses. And he did everything he could to make that shot as difficult as possible. Excellent indeed. Avoided fouling and got in perfect position to alter that shot. Now here’s Williamson. Back to Murray. Shot clock at six. P finds McDaniel. It’s blocked. Oh, well unable to get a shot off in time. And they turn it over. A very unfortunate time there to pick up a shot clock violation. And Eric Scholster wants a timeout. Coach Tim Cohen wants to time out. Timeout Philippines. Fans get a free t-shirt. Let’s hear it fans. The dish to Brown out of bounds and New Orleans will take possession. That could be costly when the game is handed in the bounds. The last thing you can afford is to turn it over. Now a timeout called by New Orleans. And that’s going to do it for regulations. So, we are headed to overtime and we’ll be back with you right after this. Glad to have you with us as we get going in overtime. Neither team giving an inch in this one. passes it to Clarkson. That shot is in just like six others have been for him. He’s shooting seven for 15. And savvy inside play by Clarkson getting himself a look right at the basket. And for New Orleans, we’ve got Cavon Looney. Jaylen McDaniels is up there with Williamson. Then there’s Dejonte Murray. And it’s P in attacking in transition. The most consistent way to generate easy looks. Yeah, when you hustle on the break like he does, good things tend to happen. Now here’s Williamson. Another shot and that’s two points on the layup. Williamson’s got 26. Some young players tend to defer in big moments. Not Zion. Wow. Through the contact and that three almost went in. So he’ll go to the line for three free throws. First team foul. It’s going to be on Dejonte number 23. And he hits the first of three. And the second free throw. Good. And he nails the third. Pelicans trailed by five as and here is P. There’s the drive. Uses the glass to finish the layup. Assist goes to 20 for Jordan P. Really crisp intelligent passing to make that basket possible. Ronley and Ludy sends it back and that’s going to be out of bounds. No keep possession. About 90 seconds off the clock here in the extra period. puts one up from 19 and then one swishes right in. He’s got 20. And the lack of effort to fight over the screen there makes that an easy shot. Yeah, as soon as these guys make contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. It seems like Murray is always ready to make the higheffort play whenever his team needs it. guys, they’re holding on to the slimmest of leads. Yeah, you can’t afford to let that thing get any slimmer. Two minutes remaining in time. Two minutes from outside of his caliber that much time to seam it up. Oh yeah, you’re done. floats it up there in pool and taken away by Brown beyond the arc and the rebound goes to the Pelicans. Williamson’s got rebound number 10 with that last rebound and it’s Murray penetrating kicks it out to Williamson. the best to McDaniels. Four on the shot clock. New Orleans needs to get off a shot and the shot goes down. Yes, he’s got 27. Love how selfless he is setting break screens like this. Plays like that right there are what help create easy scoring opportunities. Upside round that one. And you can expect him to make it when the D is trash like that. Murray outside near the three-point line. It’s P good. And now they trail by just four. And his stroke has been dead on from the outside. I mean, inside outside, it just doesn’t matter. So they foul intentionally. Fourth personal foul. Second team foul. There’s the lob to the hoopigans with the rebound and that was long enough to be a huge alley hoop but they just couldn’t quite connect just needs to be on this kind of play. I tell you he’s playing the game with pure excitement right now. He kept off that dunk with some serious hang time on the rim. Now 8 seconds separate from the two clocks late win the game up big they continue if you want to be great that carry instinct and I’ll call here the Pelicans decide to talk it over. They’re down by four. There’s 21 seconds left in the first overtime is what you take. They’re trying to stay alive. They’ve got to work quickly. Yeah. You basically have to execute things perfectly from here on out. Now here’s McDaniels. No good from outside. And now we’ve got the intentional foul. Jordan, you have to do that. You can’t just let him dribble. Game of team foul at the line for your home team, Jordan Clarkson. Two shots. Relax on the first. He hits the first one and that puts them up by five. And he hits both free throws here. So now it’s a 61 call timeout. Making no mistakes and putting some extra nails in the coffin right here. That’ll pretty much do it. Now a timeout called by New Orleans. They’re trailing by six. 9 seconds left in the first overtime. Action has been terrific. Guys, your thoughts? Still a sliver of hope. We’ve seen teams come back from this before. Smart to take the time out and get everybody focused on exactly what needs to be done. And every miss finds its way to his hands. Well, what an impressive performance. You aren’t exaggerating. And so the home crowd treated to a win. They disc over time, but they really do not. What a rise. I mean, I I thought it might end in regulation, but you know what? They came through big and did exactly what was necessary once we got into OT. And that’ll do it, folks.
