Giants vs. Cardinals Game Highlights (9/6/25) | MLB Highlights
Andre Palante, he’s playing for a job right now. Yeah, he really is. In his last start against the Reds, he went five innings, six hits, two earned runs. He gave up the home run. This is what he’s going to attack you with. That four seam fast, likes the slider, knuckle curve, four pitch guy that really has to find his spots, has to have command. Jung Hu Lee, who had a four hit game yesterday. lead bouncing ball off the glove of Thomas Sajayzi and it becomes what I would imagine to be a reach on an error but de is retired 4-3 and that’ll bring up Adamus. Oh, look out. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. And Adamus appears to be just fine. You know, not any intent at all there in that situation. Ball just got away. Two balls and two strikes with Lee at second, Adamus at first. And Smith bouncing ball on the ground. Backhanded by Sajay. and flip for one on the first in the inning. Double play and the threat passes. The Cardinals coming to bats. Justin Verlander towing the rubber for the Giants. You look at the record a couple of weeks ago, EK and it was gaudy. 1 and 10, but he seems to get better and better later in a season and he’s certainly pitching that way. No balls, two strikes on Nbar. Bars newbar lines one up the middle for a leadoff single. Herrera is out number one with Nolan Gorman coming up. Payoff from Verlander. Swing and a miss. Strike three and Gorman is put away. Verlander does it with that stable four seam fast. Verlander from the stretch and the pitch for Mason Win. Verlander going for the punch out. It’s a pop fly from win. And that will end the inning as Debors makes the catch. Andre Palante 144 innings pitched this year coming into tonight. He’s hit three batters and he’s plunked two Giants now in the first inning plus. Volante with the pitch. A swing and a miss. For the fourth time in the series, Casey Schmidt has struck out. Gilbert with a hard ground ball the second. Just Jay-Z getting a workout over there and he turns another double play. Backto back innings and the Giants are retired by way of a double play. One pitch, one out. Fly ball on the right from Sajy curling towards the line and it’s caught, juggled and caught by Drew Gilbert against the fence. How do they hang on to this? You know, this is this is huge right now. Three pitches so far, two outs, and this is after you mentioned a 24 pitch first inning. We got to remember he’s coming off that last start. He threw five innings, but 121 pitches. That’s the most he’s thrown in a game since 2018. Looks like he might get another quick out here. Schmidt spins and throws in time. A one, two, three inning for Verlander. Only five pitches needed. So with two gone, lineup turns over. Here’s Yonghul Lee. And he smacks this one the other way to keep the inning going. And Debor draws a two-out walk. A two-out rally brewing here for San Francisco. And that brings Adamus to the plate. And a breaking ball kicks away from Crooks behind the plate. And both runners will advance. The Giants are set up second and third. And Palante work himself out of the jam. Strike three. Adamus knew it. And the inning is over. And that was a pretty good bunt. Verlander handles it and gets another one pitch out. Mean now swing and a miss. Strike three for mean down on strikes. Second K for Verlander as Newbar pops this up in foul ground. Bailey with a mask off. Gives way to Chapman. And the inning is over. Nine straight retired by Verlander after giving up the leadoff single to Newbar. Giants have had a couple of innings though in which they’ve put a runner in scoring position. have yet to break through though against Palante as Dom Smith on the first pitch lines it out into center field for a base hit. Smith not waiting around picks up the Giants second hit of the night. That’s three straight innings the Giants been able to get that leadoff runner on. Haven’t been able to bring him around but third times a charm. So now Chapman hit by a pitch back into second. Here’s Chapman the high chop up the middle and it finds a hole. Dominic Smith going to go first to third. Here comes the throw. It’s well off target and Chapman will advance to second. Victor Scott, this is the this is a bad play right here. There is nothing at third base. There’s no no play, no attempt. But by doing that, he allows Chapman just to roll into second base. You know, now you’ve got two in scoring position, no double play in order. Schmid two for five yesterday with a double in the air from Schmidt to center field. Should get a run home. Scott makes the catch. Smith tags and comes home for the opening run. Chapman gets to third and the Giants lead one- nothing. A good at bat by Schmidt and that extra base comes back to bite the Cardinals. Now the infield has to play in. That’s right. First pitch swinging for Drew Gilbert and he puts this into left field for a base hit. Chapman will score. Gilbert to second with an RBI double and it’s two nothing San Francisco. He’s done nothing but just hit, drive the ball, playing good deep. Really gotten on a hot stretch here these last five, six games. Orman had a long atbat in the first inning. Ultimately struck out. Gorman strikes out for the second time the night. Watch out. Oops. There we go. I I don’t think that was by accident. No, it wasn’t. Mason Win was hit. Not head hunting. And Mason W’s, you know, he chuckled a little bit. He knew that was coming. He’s shaking his head. But that’s a veteran taking care of his boys right there. Two outs, nobody on. And that brings in Jimmy Crooks as the tying run. So I I don’t really blame the Giants for doing that. One and one, the count to Crooks. He has a homer already. And he grounds that one. Oh, right underneath the legs of the first baseman and into right field. So Krooks is going to reach base. And on the third is Mason Win. And the Cardinals may have something going here in the bottom of the fourth inning. After the hit by pitch, Brooks is aboard. That should be an error on the first baseman Devils. And he’s over there saying, “I told you I didn’t want to play first base.” Tying run is aboard and Thomas to Jay-Z. Ground ball to short. Adamus is there. He’ll go the short way and the inning is over. Four complete. Giants with the lead. So with Walker gone, here’s Scott and he fights this one off and dunks it in to left with the second hit of the night for the Cardinals. A one out single for Victor Scott II if Scott is put into motion. Broken bat flare that drops for a base hit. Scott will stop at second, but it’s backto back hits for St. Louis. Soft contact and a rally building for St. Louis as Nukebar will bat. Both runners go. Bailey throws to third in time to nail Victor Scott. We told you about Baileyy’s arm and he shows it off once again. From a baseball standpoint, just not a real intelligent play. And that’s two we’ve seen tonight from Victor Scott. base running and then out in center field. Merlander with a payoff. Grounded up the middle. Adamus charges, fields and throws. Inning over and just as quickly as that threat appeared, it disappears for the Cardinals. There’s two gone now with Drew Gilbert coming up. His double drove in the second run in the fourth inning. That was Matt Chapman who’s the runner at third right now. This gets all the way to the back stop, kicks back. Chapman’s in no man’s land and he’s in a rund down and he’ll be thrown out. A fortunate break for the Cardinals. And the inning is over. 77 pitches for Verlander. Here’s his O2. And it is strike three called. And for Verlander, career strikeout number 3,534. Now tied with Gaylord Perry for the eighth most in baseball history. Verland’s feeling real good with his command tonight. That’s strike three at the knees. Gorman is rung up and now Verlander stands alone with the eighth most strikeouts in baseball history. Let’s get this ball out of the game. Right. Verlander through five and two/3 scoreless. Looking to strike out the side. Got him swinging. Verlander strikes out the side and he is through six scoreless here in St. Louis. Backto back singles to start the night for St. Louis. And the tying run is aboard. It’s the 15th Major League played appearance for Crooks. And he gets plunked. Bases are loaded, nobody out with an opportunity here for St. Louis. Struggling for offense mightily. So Jay-Z up the middle that will fall for a base hit. Gorman in to score. Wind stops at third and the tying run is 90 ft away for St. Louis. And Jordan Walker is up and oh what a time to break out of an 0 for 25. Still nobody out. And Walker base hit to left field. Cardinals will take the lead. Win is in. Hson behind him. Cardinals walk it off. Jordan Walker who needed that in the worst way. 0 for 25 before that walk-off hit.

Was at this game Great ending. Glad to see Verlander a future HOF'er pitch
I'd prefer offense a little sooner than that but that works. Good pitching tonight.
Wow walker walking it off off of walker crazy😂
Walker walked it off against Walker. Walk off winner 🏆
Need a reminder on why they wear the helmets every once in a while
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
4:00 Does anyone else think it looks like Winn just gave up on a ball he should've been able to get to here?
We're making the oldies look young this year! Great walkoff tho lol
Go get em guys! Great game!
I will still be patient on Walker!
Jesus christ these fox announcers are stupid.
IT'S NOT HOW YOU START BUT HOW YOU FINISH !!! UNDISPUTED Manager of the Year Oliver Jose Marmol and his St. Louis Cardinals (the GREATEST team in the league) are the HOTTEST team since All-Star Break. The squad goes 90-72, TAKES the NL Central, MAKES the postseason once again and in one/two months (depending on when the games are in October/November), POURS CHAMPAGNE AND PARTIES with a World Series trophy for the unprecedented TWELFTH time!
ONG … FILTHY #SCTOP10 double plays in the top of the first and second innings as second baseman Thomas Darren Saggese FIRED to shortstop Masyn Blaze Winn who then HURLED to first baseman Nolan Brian Gorman. These SHOW the STL is not only the best offensively, but defensively, too!
A BONE-CHILLING comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning. First, Thomas Darren Saggese, the 23-year-old from Carlsbad, California, gets the offense rolling by SMASHING an RBI single to center field, driving in Nolan Brian Gorman! Then, Jordan Alexander Walker, the 23-year-old from Stone Mountain, Georgia, OBLITERATES an RBI double to left field, bringing in Masyn Blaze Winn and Garrett Reese Hampson!!
Ladies and gentlemen, CHEER for Neil Andre Pallante. The 26-year-old from Mission Viejo, California, in SIX serious innings notches THREE big strikeouts! CAP TIPS go to Kyle Yandow Leahy and Riley Chun-Young O'Brien, both part of the best bullpen in the league, for the JAW-DROPPING defense!
TIME TO FLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! #12in25 #STLFLY

Melvin FIRED!!!
sigh. we need a closer
Announcer blamed Victor Scott for bad judgment on a double steal.
SMH
Why was Mason Winn hit intentionally and did the announcers think it was ok?
We're crying for Walker. Go Cards 🎉
Walker needed that in the worst way. Now build on it.
Let's go Redbirds
Congratulations to Justin Verlander for becoming the 8th highest strike out pitcher in mlb history
I have been a Cardinals fan since 1991, and this game ended with a very great luck, which I did not expect until I saw it with my own eyes, with the modest level of my favorite team.⚾⚾⚾
SL making Little League errors.
Verlander could easily be 10 abd 1 if he had any type of run support. Hes pitched excellent this year, the offense just was never there in his starts.
Wonder if Adames getting hit in the head will affect him at the plate going forward. Hes lucky it hit his helmet.
Victor Scott making mental mistakes in the outfield that most high school seniors would not make. He's probably been coached on that situation/throw a thousand times. But he's just too cool. too fast and so much better than others, that he does not have to heed the coaching or get disciplined.
