Pirates vs. Brewers Game Highlights (9/6/25) | MLB Highlights

I show speed is his name. He’s the biggest streamer on the planet with over 120 million followers across his platforms. He’s streaming for 35 days straight calling it speed across America. PNC, one of his stops along the way. Pretty impressive first pitch from the young man. Wait for it. There. There’s the show. Oh, we’ve seen someone wear that number before to do that. Now the Pirates in their home whites take the field led by Mitch Keller. First start in September. Keep these Buckos moving in the right direction with a good taste in your mouth going into the offseason. Freelick last night was one for three. Freelick goes down the line. That’s a fair ball. That’s going to get into the corner and Sal Felick rolls into second base with a leadoff double. Good way to start the night. Freelick back in that leadoff position and immediately delivers. There’s a fly ball center field. O’Neal Cruz coming in. Still coming in and he makes a sliding catch and hangs on to it on the seat of his pants. Gets up and the runner at second has to hold. One away. The two- two pitch. Bouncing ball to the right side. Scooped by the first baseman Horowitz and onto first. The play goes 3-1 and Freelick winds up at third. Two outs. The stretch. Keller’s pitch chopped toward the right side. Easy play for Horowitz. He’ll keep this one himself. steps on the bag and Mitch Keller strands that runner. Leadoff double squandered. Very nice job by Mitch right there. We go to the bottom of the first inning. No score. Brewers and Pirates. Brandon Woodruff making his 11th start of the year. Jared Triolo to lead things off for Pittsburgh. Out of the wind up the two- two pitch. And he got him looking right down the middle with a sinking fast ball. Well, it’s Brian Reynolds bobblehead night. So, he gets a nice ovation from the crowd here. a designated hitter tonight. Rolled and just off Tang’s glove. A base hit for Brian here. Oh no. Okay. And did the old Charlie Hustle right there. He rounded and he he was really moving. It wasn’t like he was rounding the base and just kind of taking a look. See what happens. He He was going to second and then had to throw the brakes on. Two out base runner for Tommy Fam. First pitch swinging. Fly ball deep center and Perkins is there. Smooth operator out in center field. We go to the second inning. No score. Brandon Woodruff out there for a second inning of work. That is a called strike three. Woodruff strikes out O’Neal Cruz goes back to the fast ball. Picks up his second K. 23-year-old Nick York at the plate against the veteran Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff’s one-two pitch and he nailed the inside edge. Fast ball at 95. We’re seeing some VO tonight from Woodruff and he has three ortho ASAP strikeouts. All of them looking. A nothing nothing game. Here’s William Contrarus grounded out to strand a runner at third base back in the first inning. Contraras guys one to center that’s falling fast and Cruz cannot make the play. Contras is on with a flare single with two outs. O’Neal Cruz again got a late break Tim and unable to run this one down and Contraras is letting him have it. So after he hits the jumper, there’s a man on for Bowers. Bowers sends one deep to right and Jake Bowers keeps it going. Bowers is on fire right now. His second hit of the game. It’s a two-run home run and the Brewers strike first. And Jake Bowers, what a week he’s having. That’s number six on the season. and he was the hero offensively last night and he picks up where he left off here on Saturday. We go to the bottom of the fifth inning. A two nothing Brewers lead here at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Nick Gonzalez leads things off for the Pirates. Woody’s two-2 pitch. Swinging him as he struck him out. Woodruff bullish with the fast ball and he picks up another strike out. And did he go? He did. It’s a strike out for Woodruff. His seventh of the night in a one two three. Bottom of the fifth. Here’s Triolo who’s 0 for two. Right-hander delivers and a base hit to right field for Triolo. Finally, a little crack in the armor. Nice at bat shooting one through the four hole for Triolo. Two nothing Brewers. Bottom of the sixth inning. Runner at first and two outs. And Spencer Horwitz is the batter. Got him. Woodruff with the fast ball. Got him to chase another one. And it is eight strikeouts for Brandon Woodruff through six shut out here tonight. What a spot for Eric Fetty. He’s going to make just his second appearance as a Brewer. And he comes in after a gem for six innings from Brandon Woodruff. And he faces Brian Reynolds to start it. This is a a key window now for Fetty. And in the air to left center field and a base hit and Reynolds going to try for two. Here comes the throw. He’s in there with a double as the throw came in from Blake Perkins. It’s a leadoff double in the bottom of the seventh inning with the Pirates trailing by two runs. Tommy Fan first ball swinging. Fly ball to right. Reynolds going to tag. Felix got a great arm and he heaves one all the way to third. A strike and Reynolds who retreated even acknowledged that throw from South Freelick. I mean on a dime. Two nothing Brewers. The pitch hit on the ground towards the hole. Deep in the hole is Joey Ortiz. The backhand throw to first. Stretch by Vaughn and out by Nyashes Gonzalez. Two away. Heck of a play by Joey Ortiz for out number two. Pat Murphy going to lift Fetty here. That’ll be it for him. It’s going to be Robstrrisy who had gotten up there and he’s going to issue the walk. So Cruz is aboard and now the tying run is on. The go-ahead run coming to the plate to Nick York. The 1-1 pitch swung on and lifted. Foul and playable. Third base side. Caleb Durban right in the coach’s box. Makes the catch and the inning is over. Brewers with a two nothing lead here in the top of the eighth inning. Two-2 pitch and this is a ground ball back up the middle and into right center for a base hit for Freelick. Boy, Freelick took his legs out of that. It was a sweeper down and away and he just extended his hands and poked that ball back up the middle. So they have a runner on with one out and it would be a good time for Jackson to get into one for the first time in this series. He is 0 for8 in this series so far. 0 for three tonight. Cheerio deep into left field going back on it Tommy Fam. She is gone. Jackson Cheerio with a two-run home run and the Brewers lead it 4 nothing. Number 19 on the season for Cheurio and it snaps him out of an 0 for 17. 4 nothing Brewers lead. But Pirates have two on and one out. And instead of Spencer Horowitz, it’ll be Alexander Canario to pinch it. So the Pirates will get a right-handed hitter up there against Ashby. 02 pitch. Canario on the ground. Here’s your double play ball. Terra steps on the bag. A 4-3 double play and Aaron Ashby continues to shine in the bullpen. So runner in scoring position for the crew here. Cisk for the Pirates and they’ve got the runner caught between second and third. And now running back Deainy tosses on to Nick Gonzalez. And Blake Perkins is caught stealing. Great timing on that pickoff call. Deainy ran him back and then tossed it to Gonzalez who applied the tag on him. Four pitch walk and Reynolds is on for the third time tonight. Ashby came in, got the final two outs of the eighth inning by coaxing a double play ball and he got him looking. Dropped a curveball in on the outside edge. Fam down on strikes. makes an ortho ASAP strikeout for Ashby. And there’s one away as Nick Gonzalez comes to the plate for the Pirates. There’s a drive in the left center field. That ball is very well hit. It is one hopper out of here. That’s actually a break for the Brewers. Reynolds is going to have to stop at third base. Then Gonzalez put a charge into that one to the deepest part of the ballpark in left center. O’Neal Cruz. This will break the shut out bid, but it’ll be the second out as Cruz has retired 4-3, gets the riby. Brewers lose the shut out, but get an important second out. On the play, Gonzalez goes to third. It’s four to one crew. Here is Nick York. He is the last chance for the Pirates. So, if the Brewers can win tonight, they could get the lead up to six and a half games in the Central. Brewers can add a game. And a swing and a miss. Ashby lights out. gives him the curveball for the strikeout and the Brewers win. They win another series. Milwaukee creeping up on 90 victories. They are now 88 and 55 in the lead in the division.

  1. Magic number to win this division is 14 plus the cubs lost Saturday afternoon before the brewers game tonight and then you knew they won and the division lead is 6.5 again.

  2. Is it me or does Oneal Cruz just go at half speed all the time? You have a guy like Reynolds who goes full blast every game but Cruz just doesn't seem to care.

  3. The Brewers need to make sure that they are winning these games against sub .500 teams. We have a tough schedule for the remainder of the season and the Cubs schedule is not very tough at all.

  4. Take that Pittsburgh. This is what we want to see late in the season. Great job Woody. We have been playing great baseball at the right time of the season. Let's just finish the job/deed. Let's go Brewers clap clap clap clap clap. I'm positive we will get the #1 seed in the National League.

  5. The Brandon Woodruff return train keeps on ROLLING ALONG!! He has been phenomenal for the Brewers this season. I am really glad to see him back on the mound doing what he does best! I only hope we can be able to get him to stick around for a while. I'm hoping the chance of winning a World Series here will help convince some of these players to come back here instead of taking a bigger payday.

  6. Plays like this don't get the respect and due that they should. Sal Frelick's throw from Right Field to 3rd base stopping the runner from tagging up was an absolute bullet throw! Not even on a hop. He just launched it from RF to ⚾️3rd⚾️Base⚾️! That's one of the biggest reasons why the Brewers have improved so much over the last two seasons. The DEFENSE! And what's so incredible is that every single player has made some highlight reel plays. Again this play might not get on the Top Plays reel, but it should. Just like Joey Ortiz defensive skills, defensive plays like this can end up saving runs. I have never seen a team who has so many potential Gold Glove winners, but the Brewers have them. Sal Frelick has really become a superstar player. The Brewers need to make sure that they don't lose him! These guys are so incredibly talented and they are just reaching the beginning of their peak levels and they still haven't even seen their total potential yet, 😳 Sal Frelick, Brice Turang, Jackson Chourio, Joey Ortiz, Caleb Durbin, Blake Perkins, William Contreras, Andrew Vaughn, and other great players on this team have all played their hearts out every single game. Keeping them together would help make this Brewers team a potential Dynasty for a few years. Plus we have a few other great players in our farm system that can help solidify any gaps. I just hope and pray that the owner will finally decide to spend some money on these players. They've proved that they can win together. 🏆 And they are definitely capable of getting to the playoffs again next season and the following year as well. This could be one of the most legendary teams in Brewers history.

  7. This season has been awesome to watch, but we are showing some troubling signs right before October. Since ripping off the very impressive win streak in August, we have lost series to the Cubs, the Giants, and the Phillies. We won the series against Toronto, and split the series with the D’backs. Against good teams with impressive records, we have lost more series than we’ve won, and have come out tied with teams closer to .500.

October is around the corner. I believe we can do it! But I’m also worried the hype will prove to be unfounded… We really need to lock in for the last three weeks and show we mean business. Go Brew Crew!
