Crone at SS? This the first time this season? Blanked for the last week…
Currently this is the best offensive lineup we can put together
All of us looking at Cease right now:
2 days ago so many people in this fanbase and on this subreddit were screaming that Crone at SS was a bad idea and that McCoy was needed for his defense.
Then yesterday happened.
I applaud Shildt for trying something different and getting all of our best bats in the lineup.
Cease has already given up 20 HRs this year(tops on Padres). That and Coors Field, and the balls might be flying.

Has there been a stated reason why Merrill hasn’t tried to take starts at short yet?

I’m actually worried with cease starting, he just hasn’t been it lately
I’ve been shitting on Shildt for a variety of reasons but moving Arraez to 2B, Crone to SS and giving O’Hearn 1B so Sheets can DH is pretty big progress. Hopefully it sticks. This is a good lineup even with Arraez at 2.

May all the chances for Arraez be right at Arraez. Oddly okay with Jake at SS; underrated athlete
Shildt experimenting with the defense to give us the best bats is pretty shocking and overdue. Credit to him for not being as stubborn as we thought.
