3 Dallas Cowboys That Stood Out vs. Eagles… (All-22 Breakdown)
So, the Cowboys didn’t get it done against the Eagles on Thursday night, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a lot to like from this game and from this team. So, in today’s video, I pulled some of my favorite plays from a couple of guys that I was impressed with and wanted to talk about, which means we have no time to waste. Let’s get into the video. [Applause] So, I have three guys in this video that I that I want to talk about, and we’re going to go through their film in the order of Tyler Smith, Marshon Neland, and Dak Prescott. So, first up, Tyler Smith. Apparently, the Cowboys are working on a long-term deal for him. And to that, I say, get it done. Pay the man as soon as possible. Pay him now. Pay him yesterday. Pay him tomorrow. Just get it done. One of the biggest surprises for me in this game was how much movement this Dallas front was able to get versus the Eagles. I mean, I know that Jaylen Carter wasn’t there, but even with him gone, Philly still has some players on the interior of that defensive line. And Tyler Smith was kicking ass and taking names in this one. This first play we’re going to look at was Javvante Williams first touchdown run. And as you’re going to see as we go through these clips, Tyler Smith moving people. When you want to get something done, run behind number 73. This is Jordan Davis. I know it’s not Jaylen Carter, but still a really good defensive lineman. And Tyler Smith is just going to put his head down and move him out of the gap with no problem. Look at how much space he’s able to create right here. Javvante Williams could drive a semitr through this gap. And then Tyler Gayton is going to combo up to Zack Bond. and he gets just enough of him to let Javvante Williams put his head down and score this touchdown. Really nice work by Tyler Smith. This is which way I would be running the football every single time on the goal line. Tyler Smith is just going to move big number 90 right out of that gap. And it’s an easy pretty much walk-in touchdown for Javvante Williams. This next play, one that I talked about in my postgame video. I just love the scheme, but it doesn’t work unless you have guys like Tyler Smith. Once again, beautiful scheme with Brevin Span forward coming across. Tyler Gayton is going to work up to the second level to block the linebacker, Zack Bond. Brevin Span forward is going to seal off this. Hunter Lipkkey is going to work up and find someone to block. And it gives Javvante Williams a really nice running lane to find right here. But none of this is possible without big number 73 Tyler Smith. This ball is snapped at about the 12ish yard line. And by the time that that Smith disengages with this block, they’re at like the nine 8 and 1/2 yardd line. He’s able to get three yards of push on this run. a good nine, 10, 11 feet moving this defensive tackle out of the way and giving Javant Javvante Williams some room to run and then Williams does the rest and gets it down to the 2 yardd line. From this angle, even more impressive like we saw in the last one. Boom. Big running lane and then you let your running back do the rest. So, we see the strength, we see the power. This time it’s going to be Tyler Smith working with Cooper BB on this combo block against Jordan Davis. But it’s Tyler Smith’s ability to help with the combo. Climb up to Jiad Campbell. And Javvante Williams must love running behind this behind Tyler Smith because Smith is able to climb up to Jihad Campbell, seal him off on this run, which gives Williams a really nice running lane right behind him, sticks his head down, and I think that was a good seven, eight yardd run. Tyler Smith was just so good in this game. So impressive in pass protection in the run game. He needs to be paid immediately. I say when you run the ball, run behind number 73. Run behind 60 and 73 because good things were happening when they were running to that left side. I was really impressed with how the offensive line played and it starts with your allpro right guard and Tyler Smith. And he was somebody I was super excited to see as a rookie coming out of Western Michigan because of the power. And you’re going to see that power in the in the couple of clips that we’re going to watch. There are some things that he needs to clean up as far as disengaging, getting that separation, being able to get off of a block and make a tackle, but you see the violent hands and the lower body power that he plays with. He’s going to walk Lane Johnson right into Herz’s lap. He’s going to make him move out of the pocket and it doesn’t, you know, result in a sack. But this is Lane Johnson, although a bit older, still one of the best right tackles in the league. And from Nean, this is what I wanted to see last year. He has the power to overwhelm tackles, put guys on their butts, and I promise you, he’s going to be facing a lot weaker, less technically sound guys than Lane Johnson this year. So to see him be able to do this, get in Lane Johnson’s chest, make him anchor all the way back at Herz, make Herz get out outside of the pocket was really, really impressive. you’d like to be able to see him finish some of those plays, maybe be able to disengage and get his hands on Herz, but this is against one of the best right tackles in the league. And I honestly would consider it a win for Neland. Now, I think when Dallas drafted him, it was to be Demarcus Lawrence’s replacement. And what did Demarcus Lawrence do really, really well? Play the run. What do the Philadelphia Eagles like to do? They like to run the football. And there were some plays in here that I thought Nean did a good job against Lane Johnson as well. On this one, it’s an outside run. Johnson is going to try and reach block Nan sealing off this right side of the offensive line. Now, Nean does actually take a step inside right here. So, Lane Johnson actually has the advantage to get to this outside shoulder and wall him off. And that’s where you get those really nice running lanes right here if these guys can get up and make their blocks. But it’s the power that Nean has to get in Lane Johnson’s chest. And you can see it kind of right here. He’s kind of bear hugging him more so than got his hands on the inside of Nean’s shoulder pads. But he’s going to push him back. Push him back, disengage, and then go and make the tackle. Now, I think Barkley wanted to run right here, but because Neland is able to get movement up front, it kind of forces Barkley to bounce this one outside and into the waiting arms of Deone Clark and Jack Sandborn. This final play we’re going to look at is a is another really nice one. Now, it does end up being a fouryard gain for Saquon Barkley, but I don’t think that would have happened if Jack Sandborn didn’t get literally tackled by the tight end. Watch right here. Sanborn just get tackled by number 81. I I don’t know. They they didn’t call a single holding penalty on Philly all night long, which is just insane to me. But I like his ability to get in Lane Johnson’s chest, get a little bit of a push, and like we talked about, got to be able to disengage so he can make that tackle on Saquon Barkley. And in real time, I thought that this was going to be a fumble. I thought for sure that Barkley Barkley was going to let go of this football. You see Nean right there getting his hands in his chest, just not able to disengage to go make that tackle. But right there, I thought that ball was coming out because of the the angle, the tackle from behind. Really shout out to Squan for being able to hold on to that. And then our final player and we just have to talk about Dak. I had to talk about him in this video because I think he was the best player on the field all night. He was messing with this Eagles secondary for the entire game. the amount of mind games that he was playing with his eyes, manipulating the DBs to move so he could create throwin lanes for himself. And on this play, CD is running this route against outside leverage. Well, Lamb wants to run this route to the sideline. When Dak looks back from this play action, what he’s seeing is this underneath defender and Adori Jackson pretty much manning up on CD Lamb. He knows that Lamb has that leverage. He’s won it back because Jackson’s shoulders are turned this way, but because he’s not completely sure what this defender wants to do, this safety, he needs to make sure that he has enough space to throw this ball. So, if you watch Dak’s eyes, he’s able to look towards the middle of the field, kind of where Lamb is running that route, and then as soon as Lamb breaks, I think he feels this pressure. So, the ball’s got to come out and he’s able to to throw it on a dime to Lamb. And then you’re set up first and goal at the oneyd line. And that’s where we saw that Javvante Williams touchdown. I think you can see it a little bit better here with the eyes at a play action kind of towards the middle towards Lamp and then he lets go of this ball and he throws beautiful pass gets you down to the one yardd line. That drive ends in a touchdown. Beautiful stuff. Again on this play, Adori Jackson is playing with outside leverage on CD Lamb. If you look at how much cushion he’s given Lamb on this play, I feel like Dak knows immediately where he wants to go with this football. And Dak’s going to trust Lamb on all of these. If he sees that much cushion, he’s going to trust CD 100 out of 100 times. CD is going to run a little dig or a deep crosser with a corner playing that soft with that much cushion. He wants to go there immediately. But there’s no one occupying the linebacker in the middle of the field. Zack Bond is right here. None of these guys, Jake Ferguson isn’t running a shallow crosser to bring Zack Bond down. Javvante Williams is just too far away. So for Bon, his job is to read Dak’s eyes. He doesn’t know what’s going on behind him. He doesn’t know what route combinations are being run, where are these guys at on the field. So he’s just got to play Dak’s eyes. So it’s Dak’s job to create space for him to make this throw. You can see Dak looking this way. And you can see Bon reacting to that, kind of drifting toward back towards the middle of the field this way. So Dax’s looking to Bon’s right, looking to his right, and as soon as he knows he has space to make this throw with Lamb coming across and Bond still drifting, there’s no way that he can flip his hips and get back to this ball. And you’ve seen it there, Dax already in that throwing motion. And he’s going to put it in right behind Zack Bond. A beautiful, beautiful play. It’s a sharp throw, a really highlevel play from your franchise quarterback. So for the final play, it’s going to be the heartbreaker to CD Lamb. This is probably one of the best throws that I’ve seen Dak make. CD is going to run a vertical route or kind of post. It’s hard to tell. I can’t really tell what he’s doing because Jaylen Tolbert completely runs the wrong route. He runs himself right into this play when he didn’t need to be there. but a sort of vertical post route. The Eagles are doing what they did a lot of. They’re playing with the two high safeties, but because this safety kind of is cheating up, he doesn’t have the depth that this guy does over here. He’s kind of looking at what Ferguson’s doing. Not sure if Dak wants to hit that seam ball. Tolbert probably messed him up because I don’t think he’s supposed to be there, but he doesn’t have the depth. And I think Dak knows that he can make this throw over the safety. He doesn’t have time to get there if he can put it on Lamb and he does just that. That throw does not get any better. You just can’t put it on your receiver much better than that. Quinnon Mitchell on Lamb’s back. He’s got so much space. I’m not sure if CD thought that this safety was going to come over and make the hit or if he thought he was going to run into to Tolbert or if he was just in his head because of the drops before this. If Lamb catches this ball, I don’t think he takes a a hit at all. It’s a drop for Dak. It’s one of the best, if not the best throw of the night because he’s able to step up into the pocket a little bit, make this throw with pressure and put it right on Lamb’s chest plate. I think there might have been a chance for a touchdown if Lamb catches this ball because the safety’s coming in so hot. He might miss the tackle. Maybe Quinnon Mitchell misses the tackle. They run into each other. So, that’s my plays from the Eagles game I watched over the film. I really liked what I saw from a number of different guys, but these are the three guys that I wanted to talk about. I am going to do more film breakdowns this week over on my Patreon. So, if you guys are interested, go check that out. It’ll be linked down below in the description of today’s video. Thank you guys for watching. I’ll see you back this week. It’s football Sunday. I’m recording this before the games. Go enjoy your football Sunday stress-free. Watch the Giants play. That’s the Cowboys next opponent. I love you all. Bye.

Great breakdown. You're the only one who saw what I saw too. Tolbert ran the wrong route, lead a DB into CeeDee space. Turpin did it too
on another CeeDee drop, he too ran the wrong route. Which brought a DB into the same space, creating a very tight window. But CeeDee still
should have caught all those dropped Balls.
When it’s time to run the ball, run to Tyler’s side.
You forgot Tyler Booker. He played well. We didn't allow a SACK!! These guys killed KC in the super bowl. We should have won. CD needs to do better. Amon Ra on Detroit, caught EVERY ball thrown to him last year. Look it up. 4:12
DC waited too long to switch to zone.
No one from the nfc this week outside of the packers (of course) worries me. Dallas can contend in the nfc this year imo. If lamb didn't have the drops we might of won that game
I've seen seemingly TONS of breakdowns on just about all of our key players of contribution in this matchup, ⚡⚔️DM-Zac⚡⚔️
And Sam DeWill was also always around the 🏈 and making plays
But yeah! Gr8 3-Pick!!😎
you know what stood out for me??.. they need to get rid of tolbert.. he sabotaged a bunch of plays for cd and gp
I hate fantasy ball.
Imagine that… Tolbert does not understand his responsibilities again. Still remember him lining up as a corner. Get him off the 53. He is not a football player.
Had CD Lamb and Furgie had caught their passes we would have won. Had Sanders(whom I would have cut) not fumbled, we would have won…
Once upon a time, I was excited about Tolbert. But I think he's proven he has low game-IQ. Dadgummed shame.
Tolbert deserves the bench after his crappy routes AND complete lack of blocking
CeeDee just catch the dang ball DEADASS
Dak played great in the first half, but he struggled during the 2nd half. The backs were open out of the back field all night long, especially on some of the throws in the 2nd half and Dak threw the ball into double and triple coverage several times. I do believe you are diagnosing the last play where Lamb dropped the ball completely wrong. He was throwing the ball to the slot receiver and he over threw him, Lamb just adjusted to the ball in the air, he wasn't running his route that way. If that ball was going to Lamb, it should have been outside the numbers, where he was 1-1, not back inside where the safety was sitting at. Maybe the slot receiver ran the wrong route and Lamb was supposed to come back inside, even though it certainly doesn't look that way, but even still the safety is sitting right there. Beyond everything that was wrong down field, with the ball placement and two receivers in the same spot, pause the video at about 12:10 and look at Williams coming out of the backfield, there's nobody within 10 yards of him and DeJean has his back completely turned to him, before the ball is even thrown. It was the wrong throw and a bad one.
Solid video though, spot on with Smith and Kneeland
I don't care what any of y'all say are horrible Dak had no time did you show the plays that he got beat on
Lane Johnson was also hurt
I want to see Blue on the field. Idk why he's not playing but with his speed and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield I don't understand why he's not at least in the rotation. He has to be the fastest guy on the team behind Turpin but also 200 pounds of muscle. You use guys like Williams or mafah when healthy and then hit them with lightning with Blue.
I wish Jaydon Blue was able to play that key driving fumble may have never been because Sanders wouldn't have gotten that rep. But the Oline did great. As well as Kenny Clark. Also like the way Javonte Williams was running. But Dak was throwing dimes and Lamb let him down. It's funny how the times has changed now Dak family could talk junk about Lamb same as Lamb mom did about Dak. But on to the next game as the Giants.
They need to get rid of Tolbert
Take your sorry ass to green bay and hug Parsons nuts the rest of your life.
Mazi healthy scratch!!! Guess we can all agree now he is a bust!!! Really like him too!!!
Bench Sanders starts blue, who is much faster running the ball, won't get run down by linebacker
New subscriber not upset about it 😉
Highly disappointed at C D 😕 🤔
The OL, as a whole, was better than I thought they would be. The weather delay put a funk on both teams but not a bad game overall.
Murray needs to play better. Tolbert is becoming a liability. Sanders needs to be demoted. Stop forcing the ball to CD lamb. I want to see more plays with Turpin and Pickens.
