Blue Jays vs. Yankees Game Highlights (9/7/25) | MLB Highlights
I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say at this point there’s the biggest game of the year for the New York Yankees, especially if they have designs on winning the American League East. A big game has to have a big pitching matchup on the mound for the Yanks. It’s Max Freed 29 start under three. Max Freed won his 15th game of the season last Tuesday at Houston against the Astros. He allowed just one and run over seven innings. He did not allow a hit to his first 15 batters. jumps on the first pitch and skies it left side. McMahon near the dugout and he’ll make the play and then goes in to the Blue Jay dugout. Nice play to start the game. Well, you’re not going to get any help over there in the visitors dugout. That’s for sure. One pitch, one out for Max Freed. And now here’s Davis Schneider hitting in the two spot. Swing and a miss. So he takes the pitch out of the zone to help out Freed. First strike out from Max. Two down. Guerrero. A ground ball to Vulpy. Goes down to one. The top fires and a nice easy one, two, three inning for Max Re. Max Scherzer about to make his 14th start as a Blue Jay. 5-2 this year with a 411 RA. He’s on a couple days extra rest because of back stiffness inside ball four missed with a slider and Judge takes a one out walk. Cody Bellinger swinging a hot bat. Last 18 games 329. That’s looped into left field. Is it going to find grass? Oh, yes it is. It’s a base hit. Judge will stop at second. Bellinger picks up a single. Yankees first and second, one man out. And Rice has worked it to a full count. A bloop now a 3-2 count. 17 pitches in counting here for Sherzer. Bottom one. So they’re making Sherzer work. Here’s a payoff. High drive right field. He’s foul. Deepens it. Second day. Yeah, because of the location of the pitch, uh, you know, it was hammered hard, but really nothing you can do with it other than just yank it. Foul. The atbat continues. Here comes pitch number 10. Driven deep to right field going back is Springer turning, looking. See youa. A home run from Ben Rice. And just like that, the Yankees lead three nothing. Just like that, huh? That’s what you said, Michael. Wow. went back couple pitches in that he hammered foul and then finally if you foul enough off and we saw the Blue Jays do this to Schlitler earlier in the series and later the pitcher will make a mistake and Ben Rice took advantage of it. That was a line drive into the seats three nothing outside. So he got a headache going to and then walks him. There are some guys in this lineup that have had success against Freed and here’s one of them. Ernie Clement’s four for 12. He had a triple against Freed earlier in the season and he sends this one down the right field line and it’s going to get down. Remember Judge not throwing well although he gets this one in much quicker but safe at second is Clement a little bit more on that throw from Judge and Ernie had to use his most creative slide to get around it and into second base safely. Got to take advantage of this opportunity here. You got to score at least one of these runs and just get right back into the flow of the game. And he hits one in the hole and into left to base hit. Kirk in to score. Clement is held at third and Kinder Fu with an RBI single to get the Blue Jays their first run of the afternoon. Yeah, Izzy had an RBI in the game yesterday. Drove in the only Blue Jays run. Now Nathan Lucas and they could do all sorts of things here. They could start Kinder Fa. They could do the first and third safety squeeze. Let him swing away. Fly ball to right field. Judge setting up Clement going back to tag. Here’s the catch and the throw just kind of soft tossed into Chisum at second and scoring easily is Clement. I just wonder if Judge felt the impact of that throw on Clement at second and then decided, you know what, I can’t do that anymore. Springer leaded off here in the third. Hit well to the opposite field. Judge is not going to get it. It’s up off the wall on a bounce and Springer is on his way to second base and gets his foot back in there. Man, he came into the bag kind of awkwardly and stumbled over it. I don’t know if he was caught between standing up and sliding. Best of all is that he does not appear to be shaken up and the call at second is safe. So, the Blue Jays once again with something going on and they’re having good at bats against Max Free for the third time in four starts against him this season. Ground ball to short. So, Springer has to retreat to second and a throw bounced over and Rice’s foot comes off the bag and Schneider is safe. That’s going to be an error on Baldi. The Blue Jays have scored 11 runs against Max Freed. Eight of them earned, three unearned runs. The defense hasn’t been consistent. So, it’s first and second with nobody out. A break there on really what should have been a routine play. And now the batter is Guerrero and a strike. Three and two. And Vlatty tosses the bat away. And that did appear to have a good piece of the outside corner. So now it’s full line to left headed to the corner and in there. Springer is in to score. Schneider will be held. It’s an RBI double for Guerrero to tie the game. That’s his 30th RBI here at Yankee Stadium in his 48th game. He loves hitting here. Springer’s going to score easily. Remember, Bellinger’s got a good arm. So, this part of the order with the cleanup man coming up, you stop Snider at third. This is the earliest in a game this year in which the Blue Jays have gotten to free. Swing on, bounce to the right side. Rice fields, holds the runner at third, backs up and touches up at first with the first out of this inning. Schneider still at third. Guerrero still at second. The batter was Ernie Clement who had a double his first time out. And he punches one. Vulpi diving catch not too far from second base. A slow, slow, soft pop. He makes the play and that’s out number two. And that’s a big one. So they have had chances to get a run in without the benefit of a hit. But now there are two outs. And a ground ball to McMahon. Gobbles it up and he pitches out of further trouble. What a job by Freed. Second and third. Nobody out. He hasn’t let them score. And Judge walks again against Sher. There goes Judge. He takes off. Breaking ball. Take it for a ball. Throw down a second. He’s in safely. Big man can’t run. They got a stolen base. He had one yesterday in the third and he’s got another one today. That’s his 11th. Three-3 game. Go ahead run at second. 3-1 pitch here to Bellinger. Pitch from Sherzer. Bring ball drilled to the gap right center field. Going back. Going back. It’s off the wall. Judge coming around third. scores easily. Pop up slide at second. Cody Bellinger. He rings the bell again. It’s 4-3 and an RBI by Cody here in the third inning. Yankees on top. That’s just the third air of the season for Austin Wells, the catcher. But boy, the Yankees have been flaked by poor defense all season long. Here’s Miles Straw who grounded out his first time up. Strike three called. No protest. Straw got a pitch on the inside corner. That was a nice pitch by Max Freed. That’s the second strike out. two down here in the fourth. So, two outs. George Springer is up now trying to drive in Lucas and tie the game again. Lined into right field. Here comes Judge dives and he makes the play. Took an extra base hit away from Springer. Took a run away from the Blue Jays. The captain makes the play as a Yankees lead four to three. So, Ty France will hit now with one out. the two-1 pitch hit hard down to McMahon on the backhand at the grass stands up throws dug out by Rice. Great operation all around. Two down here in the six. And this is why you go when you get a defensive third baseman. You got a pitcher on the mound and Max Freed is going to be here a long time. What does he do when they hit the ball? It goes to the left side of the infield. You need a third baseman like this. What a pickup. Two down here. There’s Isaiah Connor Faith. Breaking ball. Straight three called Gotti. Great pitch by Max. just froze IKF. His third strike out. A tidy one, two, three, six for Max Freed. Not a lot on the line. Could be everything on the line in the closing days of the season. Max Freed at 90 pitches going to the seven. 11 times this season, he’s thrown over a 100 pitches. And given where the Yankees bullpen is, they’re not going to be too cautious with him. They’re going to ask him to get as many outs as he can. Had a one, two, three inning by Max Free. He’s gone seven strong innings. You can see from Devin Williams body language was there, Paul. He thought that should have been an out. It’s just the frustration of kind of just piling on throughout the year that every time a ball’s put in play, it ends up being a hit. Every big situation seems like something bad happens. You just got to get that out of your mind. Bargers running and the throw down is not in time. Addison Barger steals second. just his fourth stolen base of the season. But you talk about a timely stolen base. Scoring position, nobody out. And now here’s Guerrero, two for three, including a double. Swing and a miss. There’s that first strike out. Oh man, did that come right on time. Still not out of the woods. Alejandro Kirk, seventh leading hitter in the league. Guerrero is number six. Swing on bounce to third. McMahon holds a runner at second. Throws over in time for out number two. and Ernie Clement category pesky players. He’s uh at or near the top of that category. Change up low ball four and the inning continues. Ty France will hit for the Blue Jays. Tying run on second in Barger. Go ahead run on first in the form of Ernie Clement. McMahon heals over the first and Williams works into and out of trouble here in the eighth. The Blue Jays strand two. We go to the bottom of the inning and another walk to the Yankee captain. three walks. Boy, to to tack on another run here would be so big going into the ninth inning. Well, and it’s shorts tally is 90 ft away. Well, and this guy is three for five with a homer off him. And I’m sure Hoffman knows that also. And this guy would be Big G. And it’s on the ground towards Short waiting on it. Clement gloves and tosses to first in time to make it a scoreless bottom of the eighth for Jeff Hoffman. Chance to move to two games behind Toronto. David Bednard takes over and quickly one out here in the top of the nine. Next man up is Nathan Lucas. This is into left field. A base hit and the Blue Jays have the tying run aboard. Well, not a a base steeler. Only two on the year. So can really concentrate on the batter. Runner goes the throw to second. Got him. Oh, what a throw and a great time by Jazz. Two away. Wow, this is a huge play. And then like I said, Lucas has not run much, but they were taking a chance because a lot of closers, including Bendar, very slow to the plate. A tremendous kind of pick and throw by Austin Wells to drive him in. But him being thrown out means that now Springer might not even come up here this and all of a sudden they’re down to their final strike. Soft ground ball charging McMahon. Fields, fires, got him. Yankees win 4-3. They take two out of three from Toronto and they move to within two of first place in the American League

I donโt know who the color guy is for the Blue Jays.. but damn.. he sounds like he has a ball of Yarn in his mouth.
Makes Harry Carrey sound like Shakespeare..๐
Yankees take 2/3 from the Blue Jays, way to go guys!
Hard to believe Volpe is STILL our best choice at shortstop. Is it me? Am I the crazy one? Or is it Boone…..
I'm starting to get nervous
Just commented but had to come back and say AL East is yet again the best division in baseball lol
Perfect throw ๐
Volpe sigue fallando partido a partido que esperan para sacarlo?๐
A rare duel of the Maxes
Before any haters say Riceโs homer was a โYankee Stadium short porch jobโ, Riceโs homer wouldโve been out at 14/30 parks, including the Rogers Centre (Toronto Blue Jays home park).
Yankees win this baseball game
volpe still AAA. ๐ ๐ ๐ why still play… and when williams came out he was still with a bad player.
Yankees playing much better in the past few weeks but they still make some of the weirdest defensive mistakes you'll ever see.
Here comes NY and the Red socks! By the end of the Red socks series, T.O should be in a Wild card spot!
BRING IN CABALLERO!!
Amazing. Yanks won despite Williams appearing!
Get Volpe OFF THE FCKING FIELD. HE CANNOT EVEN THROW TO FIRST WITHOUT BOUNCING IT
I think it's gonna be tight race in the AL East. Hopefully Jays pulls it off but looks tough schedule ahead. It's not a bad time to chill out and regroup. Get our pitchers settled and heal up injuries. Toronto sports has seen what load management can do in the playoffs
Everything hit to the left side of the infield Im hoping Ryan.M cuts in front of Volpe.
Go #Yankees
do not sell blue jays. do not sell.

You obviously don't follow the Jays. That's their lineup against lefties. Bo was hurt
Fried won the battle of the Maxes.
McMann ๐ MVP This game would never be won with the 3rd baseman's they have had the past 10 years

DaAaAaAa Rice win!!!
Jazz and Volpe have about 100 errors between them this season and they both added to that total today, tried their best to help the Jays win but max fried still locked it down, good for him
Man I'm really loving the Ryan MacMahon addition ๐ฏ

Don't look back, Toronto!

For every run Jays make…Scherzer gives up one…Jays
play catchup…
W series. ggs Yanks. hoping we get another matchup!
Yankees are thinking of winning World Series playing this kind of game ๐๐
Eh, this loss stinks for the Jays. But they have another tough series in Houston next. Onto the next game!๐ฆ๐
Wow they tried to lose this game for Fried every which way possible and still thanks to his pitching they won, having judge playing the outfield and Volpi is sooo counterproductive any halfway decent throw would either prevent those guys from scoring or stop them at third base, it's ridiculous. It's a miracle we win with Boone managing.
Because of Volpe and Judge in the outfield they score 3 runs?
As a Yankee living in Canada, I just LOVE when we kill Toronto #goYankees
Iโm gonna start betting the over on volpe errorsโฆ Iโm gonna be a millionaire
go yankees
Damn, Blue Jays needed that win. Their bats have gone quiet.
Why were so many of our top players not playing? Doesn't seem like a very good decision by the manager.
Come on, Blue Jays. We need some more wins. ๐จ๐ฆ
All the tight orange dresses and rainbow boys are fumming. Or flamming..husbands walk to the fridge must be deep!!!๐๐ get rid of Judge , Chaz and Boone and we would have at least 1 ring already. Oh and a lot of female and male staff members should bounce. I mean like 3 months ago
Can we get rid of Volpe please?
