NBA LIVE! Los Angeles Lakers vs Boston Celtics | September 8, 2025 | Lakers vs Celtics LIVE 2K26

A has had some legendary trash talkers, but Damen Lillard says it’s not really a verbal assault like it used to be. In this era, it’s more gestures. From the watch your head to the too small or rock the baby, Trey Young’s theatrical boughs, players have their ways of sending a message, Kevin. And the message usually received. Da, thank you. And now the Lakers starting group. LeBron James is out there with Hatchima. Then there’s Eightton. Then there’s Donic. And it’s Reeves in at the shooting guard position. And for Boston, we’ve got Derek White. And it’s Kada in at the five roaming the paint. Now Greg, when you look at these rosters, both teams have lots of quality players and very deep benches. And with the pace we see in games, it really helps to have more legs to run. Each of these coaches have a lot of options. So, it’ll be interesting to see how they play the matchups. It’ll be the Celtics off the tip. Here’s Pritchard guarded by Donic. Pritchard passes to White. rebounded by the Lakers. It’s all about the defense right there. Without that level of activity, he probably scores it. Contact on the shot and now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line and he’ll be shooting his first free throw of the game here. [Applause] [Applause] Guys, you think about the Boston Celtics and obviously the offense is driven by the two Jays. is Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. So much of what Boston does starts with their wing play. Nang kicks to Brown. Passes it to Niang and looks like the illegal pick was set. Yep, that’s right. That’ll get their attention. When a pick like that is questionable and creates that much of an advantage for the offense, you have to blow the whistle. I don’t think there’s any question. There are so many rules that favor the offense these days. You’ve got to be able to equal things out when an illegal screen is set. And throws it down. Well, we’re talking about a big time rebounder. DeAndre Aton’s timing excellent. The pass to Pritchard. Back to Brown. Lets it go with a three. That one doesn’t go. So, Los Angeles will take it the other way. And Doris with Tatum and Brown. If they aren’t scoring, they’re creating for others. Yeah, both Jason and Jaylen took major steps as playmakers, understanding the value of their teammates, as release points, as guys who can take some pressure off in terms of the scoring load. And listen, neither guy is finished improving. And you love seeing that great mobile one drive a second time. and putting that pressure on the rim. That’s what it’s all about, threatening with that attack. And for Jaylen Brown at the free throw line, he has worked so hard on his mechanics and that’s paid dividends in terms of his confidence. Guys, first trip to the free throw line for him in this one. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] First one falls for him. And Jaylen Brown is such a force on the offensive end. Hard to keep that guy out of the paint. Terrific finisher at the rim. He doesn’t get the second one. And maybe the only weakness for Brown is his handle on the ball. And it’s something that he’s worked on every off season. Still though, susceptible to turnovers while dribbling. That’s one of the very few weaknesses in his game. Hatchiman no good for Boston. And they’ve gone 0 of three from the field to start the game. Master Niang back to Brown with some arc. That one doesn’t drop and the Lakers take it the other way to the paint and throws it down. Luca Donuch made it known early in his career he is one of the best passers in the NBA. They need a bucket in a big way here to regain some confidence. It’s Brown on the wing [Applause] and it’s good. Two points well at 6’7. This is a forward Jaylen Brown who handles it well. Cuts his way right through the defense. [Applause] Now about three minutes gone in the first quarter. Here’s Reeds. Puts up a three. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Donic has got four assists in the game. Out to the right wing. Pass to Pritchard. Nice ball movement by Boston. Knocks it loose and stolen by Eaton. [Applause] First quarter of action, just under three and a half minutes played. Well, being aggressive and assertive, the big man snatching the rebound. [Applause] Passes to Pritchard. It’s White on the wing. [Applause] It’s hauled in by Los Angeles. Eightton’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Outside nice move. Eighton with a nice move. Eightton’s got eight points and they have owned the paint so far and the score reflects it. I know it’s early but you have got to like the dominance down low right now. They are playing bully basketball. And now the first timeout called here for Boston. Trying to snap them out of this little slump. Just feels like the basket is looking awfully small to them right now. They’re having a hard time getting anything to fall. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] So, it’s the Celtics now. 11-point game. There’s the pass to Kada. Here’s Niang to the left side wing. Five on the clock. Pritchard passes to Kada. The three. Whoops. There’s the 24se second shot clock violation. So they’ll turn it over. James looking it over. Shoots over Brown. Kept alive. Hatchimal. It’s deflected. Over in the corner. Brown and stolen by James. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. Well, you know Ruie wants to score it. He will not retreat in the face of some tough defense. Nicely done. And let’s quickly check out the scoring breakdown here for Los Angeles. I I like how they they’ve worked the ball inside getting looks closer in there and that really helps your offense. And their assist total also impressive early creating with the pass and playing for teammates. And that one falls for Hachimura. Ruy Hachimura, a guy who’s willing to slot into whatever position the team needs him and works hard to help out on every single play. You’ll love the hustle and the attitude. [Applause] Himaura hits them both. Celtics trail by 13. Pass to Pritchard. Here’s Niang. He’s covered by Hatchima. Here’s Pritchard. Still getting warmed up offensively. No scoring hit from him. Just four to shoot. The kick out to Brown. They need this one. Good D by James to the inside. [Applause] And that one’s good. Hatchimal. Seven points here for Rui Hatchima. And what a way to start this game. Dominating at both ends of the floor. And give them credit for approaching this game with the right energy and intensity. This team has attacked every chance they’ve gotten. Now here’s Brown. [Applause] And here’s White. And it’s Eightton with the rebound. Eightton’s got his fifth rebound in this one. Anic outside now. Here is Hetimer D right on him. Here’s Reeves. White covering. Reeves can’t hit. And so White will bring it up for the Boston Celtics down by 15. [Applause] Rebounded by DeAndre Eaton. Lakers have gone seven of 13. Just over 50% from the floor. Some good looks. Hatchima. No good. Boston’s gone 0 of two from deep here. [Applause] White looking around to stop the run. Shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. Ruy Himura picks one up. When you are the aggressor, being assertive. Very often you’re going to get the whistle as Derek White did there. That one is off. I think the thing that’s most striking about Derek White, guys, he’s capable of affecting games in so many ways. Yes, he can score it. Excellent passer and a very versatile cross positional defender. A guy who can contribute to a good team. [Applause] And he’s good on the second. [Applause] Los Angeles leading by 14. Donic kicks to James. [Applause] White against Smart. Shot clock at six. Nice shot by James and the Lakers lead by 16. Building up a big early lead. They have taken charge of this game and they’ve been doing it largely at the offensive end if the defense does not adjust. This could be a blowout. Now here’s Brown and there’s the whistle. Illegal screen. And not the most common call you’ll see in the NBA, but hard to argue that pick wasn’t illegal. It is really difficult to get your feet completely set, to stay completely still. It’s almost surprising to me that it isn’t called more often. And here’s the Lakers. They’re on a 20 to4 run right now. Smart passes to James. The three-pointer, no good. Celtics trail by 16 pass to Simons. Three-pointer. It’s hauled in by LeBron. LeBron’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Throws it up high. Oh, and they get in the way of the alleyoop. Not to be. Good play defensively. And Simons has it in the corner. and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. The Zelix have made two and missed two at the line tonight. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] And he can’t get the first one. [Applause] [Applause] He hits the second from the line. Los Angeles leading by 15. Donic kicks to Smart. passes it to LeBron. That one no good. And the Celtics going the other way now. Here’s Walsh and he lays it straight in and giving up some inches inside but makes up for it with an aggressive stop. Well, he’s attacking. He’s forcing the issue and that simply stated a terrific play. Here’s James and he overshot that one missing and and he has definitely been struggling in this quarter and you know what they keep calling his number and they’re simply trying to get him out of this funk. Walsh covered by LeBron. Rebound the Lakers. James has got his fifth rebound in this one. It’s Smart with the drive. Hayes and he gets the basket. Officials blowing the whistle. So a chance at the line for one more. Oh, don’t you love how unselfish Marcus Smart is? Sees the open man. Whips the pass over in just the right amount of space. And the Lakers making a change here. Vincent’s checked in. [Applause] [Applause] Hayes no good on the free throw. Celtics trail by 15. Here’s Simons. Good work defensively by Smart. Well, that’s a blown defensive coverage, but it doesn’t matter. He cannot answer the bell. And here’s James outside and Boston with the rebound. Walsh guarded by Smart and there’s the pass to Garza. Shot clock at five. A put back. Great positioning on the put back. And those second chance points really become almost like bonus points when you can get them. [Applause] James in the post, rebounded by Hower. And the well is running dry for him right now. Nothing falling. And this is where you hope that he can find something easy so he can see the ball go through the net. Los Angeles leading by 13. Greg, when you watch Anthony Fernie Simon’s play, you can see the burst he has on the ball. And that goes for him attacking the rim and rising up for a shot. Impossible to stay in front of him with that quick first step. And with his skill and athleticism, boy, the sky’s the limit. Now Simons after LeBron’s three-pointer that didn’t go [Applause] outside. Gonzalez pass to Walsh. Plenty of space and it’s good off the back of the rim and in the defense making it way too easy for him on that jump shot. He’ll take that all night. [Applause] Smart against Simon and two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content. Oh, Marcus Smart a tenacious defender which doesn’t always show up I think sometimes Doris on the statistical sheet after the games. Well and in fact Kevin different teams have different defensive metrics trying to measure that impact. All you have to do though with Marcus Smart is watch the guy work on that end. The way he tracks the play, the way he anticipates, just the energy he brings on the defensive end changes the equation. [Applause] That free throw missing. Marcus Smart is one of those guys you want in the trenches. He brings great effort on the defensive end every night and he’s a willing shooter at the most critical moments. [Applause] And the second free throw good. There’s 31 seconds left to play in the first. Outside Gonzalez. Pass to Hower. Here’s Walsh. and a miss there with a chance to cut the lead to single digits. [Applause] Vincent the pass to Smart. A three ball. They grabbed their own miss. What energy on the offensive boards? The defense can’t match the effort and they paid the price. And so it’s the Los Angeles Lakers with a 14-point lead as we bring the quarter to a close. A look at the field goal percentage numbers tells the story of what tough defense they’re playing today. We’ll get right back to the action when we return [Applause] and glad to have you with us folks. Second quarter of basketball. This game has not exactly been neck and neck but plenty of time left in this one. And for the Lakers, this has been the game they wanted to have. Well, look at the turn turnover ratio. Then look at the score. Easy to see what happened in that first period. Offensively, they took care of the ball. And defensively, they forced a number of miscues. Here’s LeBron. You’ve got Anthony Bernie Simons. He’s out there with White and it’s Kada in at the five. That’s the five to begin the second quarter for the Celtics. Aiden at the elbow. Can’t hit from the elbow. And here’s White. He’ll bring it up for the Celtics. It’s a 14-point game. Pass Teada over Eightton. And he could not get that one to go. Lot of contact. And he’ll go to the line for two. That one on Eightton. The Celtics shooting their seventh and eighth attempt at the foul line tonight and up around 82% as a team a season ago. So they know how to make the most of those opportunities. Shooting two and he makes the first. I’ve heard it said, Greg, a coach can’t give you confidence, but they can take it away. What’s the meaning behind that? Well, players at this level are naturally confident, but when coaches are always critical, it can take you out of your game. Makes you just start to think a little too much on the floor. Both good from the line that time. [Applause] Lakers leading by 12. Donic kicks to LeBron. Back to Donic inside and finished off by LeBron. Boy, over two decades now. And LeBron James. Power, style, finish, grace, you name it. Here’s Niang. He’s still scoreless so far in this one. Good work defensively by Hatchima. Anj passes to Hatchima. Here’s Reeves. Lakers passing it around. Clock at six. Here’s LeBron. No good. Now Boston takes it the other way. [Music] Brown outside. Over in the corner, White. The shots good. Brown making the play. You have to have a quick release in the catch and shoot game. Otherwise, you allow the defender to catch up. Derek White’s like, “No, sir. I’m putting this one home.” Right wing. Here’s Reeves nailed from three-point land. Reeves has got six points. the real come at us and we’re coming right back at you. And you would expect nothing less from these two taking pride and making plays. And it’s White missing. Well, this is the kind of shot we’ve come to expect him to make. He’s got to be upset with that one. Rebound Boston. White drives in and that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. Just a little quick burst by Derek White. Too quick off the drive. Celtics have gone five of eight from the stripe here tonight. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First free throw is good. [Applause] And both free throws good for White. Lakers leading by 12. Anj passes to LeBron. Hachimura with it and the whistle blows. It’s going to be on Luca Donic. That is his first foul of the game. [Applause] Brown against LeBron. [Applause] Now here’s Brown guarded closely. [Applause] Simons against Donic. And it’s Simons missing. Los Angeles has gone one of two on three-pointers here in the second quarter so far. Celtics trail by 12. The pass to Brock. Here’s Nang. Simons on the wing. [Applause] The shot. No good. So, the Lakers will take it the other way. At one point they led by 16. Wasted no time on that one. Reeves has got five points in the quarter. Listen, we all know Luca Donuch can score, but equally impressive to me is his playmaking ability. Pass to White. That one off the back iron and out. Well, you simply have to shake that one off, right? You can’t let that kind of missed opportunity bother you. Here’s [Applause] Reeves. Light covering. [Applause] No one near Donic as he lets it fly. Good on the triple. Donic has got his first bucket of the game and he’s on the board for three. Here’s Kada. He’s shoot again. He takes it up and lays it in. Yeah, coach’s pet peeve there. No box out. And to me, this is a common theme that’s running through the league right now. Guys looking to leak out rather than box out. Now here’s Donic. Pass to LeBron deep. A rebound by Simons. And they’ll get another chance. [Applause] LeBron outside. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Six points for LeBron. Yeah, the catch and shoot game for LeBron James. It’s all about mechanics and your footwork. He is so good there. Here’s White. Nice spin off the left rim and in. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the D. It takes incredible effort to stay connected to the hip of the offensive player. You’ve got to want to work. Here’s Reeves. He’s got eight. Five to shoot. LeBron with another miss. Listen, if you’re that wide open, you have to take the shot. Even if it’s not your favorite. Lakers leading by 15. Hatchima finds James. Donic against Brown. And it’s Donic missing. And so Brown will bring it up for the Celtics. Foul technical fouls have been an issue for Luca Donuch since he entered the league. First of all, you love his passion, but I think we’ve seen real progress in this regard. And that’s because you understand if you’re Luca Donuch, you need to play high minutes for your team. Here’s Kada from down in the low post. It goes. Kada’s got six points in the quarter. And and that’s a great play on the backboard for him. I mean, it’s what we expect. All his second chance points do not come by accident. Now, here’s Simons following the miss by DeAndre Aton. Passes it to Brown. A floater. And it’s good on the way in. Brown’s got five. Well, this is where having a tighter handle helps Jaylen Brown in pick and roll play. Just gets to his spot and scores it. And a great job to get that angle on a tremendous drive. His team is down, but with the way he went at the rim, you know, they’ll keep fighting the entire game. Now, here is Himura. Seven points in the game. Here’s James trying to end the drought. Trying to get open is Himer and Aton with the layup. This guy has got a dominant physical frame. Incredible athleticism. Nice job by DeAndre Aton inside. [Applause] Back to Simons. Takes a three. Rebound the Lakers. Eightton’s got 11 rebounds in the game. Hatachimura the pass to Reeves on the wing. James he’s covered by Brown. Donic kicks to LeBron. Tries a three. The rebound by Kada. Kada’s got rebound number nine now. What an effort here tonight. And the rejection by James. Good work there as it goes. K’s got eight points here in this quarter. Los Angeles leading by 11. Anj passes to Reeves. [Applause] Now here’s James. Nice ball movement here by the Lakers. [Applause] Now the pass to Aton. Rebound. Boston. White’s got rebound number five for tonight. Here’s Simons. That will help your assist numbers if you’re Derek White. Can’t miss that guy. LA’s gone two for five from three-point land since the end of the first. Pass to James. Fires the three. I’m not sure why he keeps trying his love from deep here. It’s just not his night outside. White driving inside. Up and in on the layup. White’s got 10 points. That is impressive stuff from Derek White. Defender in his grill. No problem. Pass to Reeds. [Applause] This is it to Aton. Down to five on the shot clock. Down low. Reeves gets the bucket. Well, DeAndre Aton is a team first guy and boy does he set up the open man. [Applause] Nang kicks to Simons and stolen by James. [Applause] Ronic outside and the pass to James [Applause] looking to get it going. The shots good on the assist by Donic and it’s an 11-point Laker lead. Well, defense is always going to give a level of attention to LeBron. He’s able to shake off the contact and get into his shooting. Brown feeling out of it. The shot misses. Lakers leading by 11. He tries for three. Here’s Eaton. Another shot. And they call the foul. So, he’s got the and one chance here to make it a three-point play. Well, DeAndre Aton, incredible size, incredible athleticism, and refuses to go down easy. for Los Angeles. They have gone four of six so far from the line, missing a couple. And a whole new group out on the floor for the Celtics. The Lakers also changing it up. Vanderbilts checked in for Ruie Hatchima. Smart comes in for LeBron and Vincent subbed in for Luca Donic. [Applause] And that one misses. I think what you like most about DeAndre Aiden is probably how efficient he is on the offensive end. Now, obviously the next step, he’s got to raise his game and defensive intensity on that end of the floor. Here’s Pritchard. No points in the game yet for him. Six to shoot. Gonzalez passes to Hower over Eightton, controls the rebound and puts it back up and in. Just in a perfect position to grab that rebound and then get the put back. And that one’s good. Eighton. Eighton’s got 14 points. Guys, I like how assertive DeAndre Aton is looking right now. This is allowing him to stay hot out there. I mean, even from over here, you could see that one pretty clearly. For Boston, they have made seven free throws and has three in this game. Shooting two. That free throw no good. Hayes is checked in for Los Angeles. [Applause] And he sinks the second. And so it’s Smart. He’ll bring up the ball for the Los Angeles Lakers. 17 points was their biggest margin. Vincent, the pass to Hayes to the middle. Reeves gets the bucket. Reeves has got nine points in the quarter. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. Pass to Pritchard. Pass to Gonzalez. Six on the shot clock for three. Vanderbilt with the rebound. Left side. Smart. And that would have counted, but his shot was off the mark this time. And so that brings the first half to a close. Lakers lead by 14. We’ll see you after halftime for the beginning of the third quarter. [Applause] The 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hey everybody, good to see you back here on our halftime show. Well, actually, we can’t see you, but you can see us, but you get it. Ernie Johnson, Kenny the Jet Smith, Shaquille O’Neal. You’re watching the NBA on 2K Sports. A tremendous start for DeAndre Aton. He had 14 points, 12 rebounds, and one block. And let’s get your thoughts, Kenny, on the Lakers. What a brilliant, unselfish half of basketball they just played. Their ball movement was absolutely impeccable. All in all, just beautiful basketball to watch. And Shaq, what are your thoughts on Boston? Well, they’re not finding good shots, and that starts with their ball movement. Too much hero basketball. They need to sharpen up the attack. More motion, quick cuts, get the ball inside. There’s no way they’re coming back with that type of play. And that should do it. With the second half about to begin, let’s send you back to Kevin Harland. Go back to Kevin Harland. Go. Just go over there. [Music] And as we dive into the second half, we’ll find out if the next two quarters are any different from the first two. So far, it has been a runaway. DeAndre Aiden has been sensational. Well, it didn’t take him long to get that double double. Already has it halfway through the game. That takes a level of aggression and a level of focus and he has brought it all night thus far. And there wasn’t too much drama in the first half, but maybe things will tighten up here in the second. Los Angeles leading by 14. So for the Lakers right now, Ruie Hatchima out there with LeBron James. Then there’s Donic. Then it’s DeAndre and it’s Reeves in at the two guard spot. Right. Here’s a classic NBA question. Who’s been the best franchise in league history, Celtics or the Lakers? Come on, Kevin. You are putting me on the spot. But I’d go with the Lakers. More superstars over the years, and I think that 2000’s run with Kobe and company, that put them ahead in my estimation. Here’s Nang after Los Angeles picked up three with their last shot. Here’s White. [Applause] Pass to Pritchard. White left side from downtown again. The miss by the Celtics. Over to the wing. Here’s Reeds and they recover it. Hatchima kicks to Donic. Aton. The pass to Reeves. Now James over Brown. LeBron can’t get it to go. Listen, he can make that shot right there, but I do know they have other options they can go to. And we’re about a minute and a half here into the second half. Don outside the pass to Reeves. Pass to James over Brown. And the foul on Ruy Himurray. That’s foul number two for him. And right now, let’s watch that terrific swat. And this is how you protect and grow a lead by making a huge effort on that end of the floor. Here’s [Applause] Pritchard guarded by Donic. A shot by Pritchard. No good. Oh, you you’ve got to be able to deliver when you get a bunny like that. That’s just too easy of a shot to miss. What a connection DeAndre Aton has with his guys. Great timing on the alley. They’ve been looking out of sync offensively. Yeah, that their offense has ground to a standstill. Here’s Pritchard. He’s gotten some minutes, but nothing on the board yet. Boy, he’s got a great stroke. That one almost dropped. And the call on the shot that sends him to the line. It’s early in Rui Hashimura’s career, but this young man has proven capable on the interior. He will never shy away from contact. [Applause] shooting two. [Applause] And that one falls for Hachimura. [Applause] Kachi Mura had them both endors this Celtics team very young. How are they doing it? In consecutive drafts, they drafted two talented and elite two-way players. That’s Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum. And so, yes, both guys are young, as is the entire core, but the fact is they’ve matured together. They’ve had deep playoff runs and they remain dangerous. Now, a timeout called by Boston. Yeah, and his shot selection iffy at best tonight. A lot of forced contested shots this game. He’ll be lucky if he just gets a talking to here instead of a a ticket to the bench. [Applause] [Applause] Come on. Congratulations. [Applause] A touch over two and a half minutes of basketball played here in the third quarter. Here’s Brown. Drops in the layup for two. Brown’s got seven points. Well, that’s where you use your athleticism and agility if you’re Jaylen Brown navigating to a high percentage. Look, job. Hatchima. Pass to Reeves. Clock at four. Here’s Eightton. And the rebound paying off as they pick up two on the second chance bucket right there. Well, this is what he does. Find ways to make his presence felt then this time on the offensive glass. How about the hustle on display there? That kind of effort will earn respect from everyone. And it’s Brown missing. Lakers leading by 21. Reeves the pass to Hatchima and it’s sent back by White and it’s Brown missing. And so it’s Himura who brings up the ball for the Lakers. They’ve only allowed two points so far here in the second half. Got it. Good job in the low post. He’s got 11. Well, this is the area that he’s most comfortable. Rui Hachamura such a solid performer in the painted area. Passes to Niang and he’s good on the three ball. Niang’s got himself on the board with three there. What a beautiful stroke from range defensively. You’ve got to try to take him out of his comfort zone. [Applause] LeBron passes to Reeves with it. Near the three-point line, it’s Donuch. That one wide left. Celtics trail by 20. Nang passes to Pritchard. Outside White. Brown again. LeBron. Brown outside over James. And it’s Brown missing. He is just not taking smart shots out there. A pattern he has fallen into tonight. And that’s going to be too many steps. Gets the whistle on the travel. Simons. He’s checked in for Boston. [Applause] LeBron against Brown. outside. White Simons on the wing hits some rim on the way in and the buckets’s good. Just such a well-rounded offensive player. He’s got a little bit of everything. Now here’s Donic and they double up Donuch. And they’re moving it up. It’s rebounded by Donic. Donic has got seven rebounds in the game. Reeves the pass to Eightton and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. I’ll tell you for a center, the big man has got excellent touch at the free throw line. Let’s quickly check out the scoring breakdown here for the Lakers. Take a break. Take a break. I’m in love with how they’re moving the basketball all game long and also their ability to move without the ball. That style just makes it so difficult to defend. I also like how they they’ve played in the painted area. They’ve made an effort to work on the inside and convert those chances. [Applause] [Applause] Eighton hits them both. Celtics trail by 20 to the inside. Kada. The shots good. Brown making the play. Kada’s got 10 points. Jaylen Brown has improved as a setup guy. That pass was on time and on target. LeBron outside down low and that one’s good. Donic. Donic has got his second bucket of the game to go. When you allow good scorers to get uncontested shots at the rim, no wonder you’re losing. To me, this has simply stated been a complete lack of defensive attention and focus all night long. Here’s Simons after Luca Donich’s bucket. And he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. It’s on Luca Donic for Boston. They have they had 12 attempts at the line, making eight so far. He’s off on the first. And he misses the second one as well. So he is 0 for two that time. And the pass to Vincent. Here’s the three. Rebounded by the Celtics. Lets it go from deep and it’s White missing. Lakers leading by 20. [Applause] Smart with the ball. Pass to Vincent. He kicks to Hayes. Pass to Vincent. Just five on the clock. shoots over Simons. It’s hauled in by Brown. Brown’s got four rebounds now tonight. These are his third and fourth free throw attempts of the game. Terrific form at the line throughout last season. 89% on the year. Two shot. The first free throw is good. [Applause] [Applause] and Simons drops them both. Lakers leading by 18. Passes it to Hatchima. Here’s Vincent. Covered by Simons. Six to shoot. And it’s out of bounds. The Celtics will take it the other way. Boston’s gotten one of six three pointers to drop since coming out of the locker room at halftime. To the wing on the left. Here’s Walt. Back to White. Celtics passing it around and they call an illegal screen here. And not the most common call you’ll see in the NBA, but hard to argue that pick wasn’t illegal. It is really difficult to get your feet completely set, to stay completely still. It’s almost surprising to me that it isn’t called more often. Smart again. White and Hayes throws it down. Well, what can you say about Marcus Smart, right? A willing, capable passer off the pick and roll environment. That is really beautifully done. Here’s Hower. He’s been quiet so far. Still no points in the game. [Applause] Now here’s Simons. So far in the game, he’s gone two for four from the free throw line. [Applause] Two shot. That free throw. No good. Gonzalez, he’s checking for Derek White. [Applause] [Applause] good on the second free throw. Here’s Vincent outside. Smart. Now the pass to Hatchima. Back to Smart. Shoots over Simons. Here’s Vanderbilt and he drops in the layup off the glass and the Lakers lead by 21. When you’re trying to claw your way back into a game, you cannot allow second chance opportunities. Well, how about the effort on the glass even with this lead? I love that they’re still going after it. And so it’s Smart. He’ll bring up the ball for the Los Angeles Lakers. Come on. Come on. [Applause] Hayes. The pass to Vincent. And here is Hatchima. Buries the long range jumper. Hatchima’s got seven points for the quarter. And this is what we’re seeing. Rui Hachimura understanding I’ve got to expand my range. This is huge for his development. Here’s Walsh. The shot. No good. Good work defensively by Hatchima. [Applause] To the paint. Here’s Hayes. And Hayes throws it down. Yeah, they’re rolling right now. That lead continues to grow. And one of the things that’s helped that is they’re getting it done on both ends. Terrific focus on offense and they’re locked in defensively. Here’s Hower. He’s been patient so far. Nothing on the scoreboard yet. They get the rebound and he converts the layup. Well, they’re trying to establish their attack down in the paint. And make no mistake, these help their overall confidence. Vincent, the pass to Hayes. Here’s Vincent. Smart on the wing. Pass to Vincent. Just five to shoot and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. This is his first free throw of the game. Shooting two. He misses the free throw. Celtics making a switch here. Pritchards checked in. [Applause] That one is no good. Boston shooting terrible so far in the second half. down around 26%. Scooped up and Simons wide open. He’ll fight. And folks, he did not look into that one. He knew just where he wanted to be to grab that backboard over to the left wing. Hatimura the pass to Hayes inside Vincent. And the layup’s good off the glass. This is what we call highly efficient play. Working off the screen, getting to the cup. Pass to Hower to the inside. Great pass to set up the layin. 11 points in the game. Pretty dime there. The kind of ball movement coaches love to see. Passes to Hatchima. Here’s Vincent. outside Smart and he lobbs it up and Hayes throws it down and the definition of teamwork right there on that alley and Greg what about the finish bringing it down with some thunder. Yeah, [Applause] here’s Hower over Smart and he gets it back. This guy is an absolute menace on the defensive end. Marcus Smart with the rejection. And so it’s Los Angeles finishing the quarter up by a whopping 24 points. Their defense has been active and effective. We’ve got more in store for you right after this. And a chance right now to show you our State Farm assist of the game. And he he may not be known as a pass first guy playing out of the two guard spot, but he shows here that he can dole out an assist or two when he needs to. Well, having multiple playmakers on the floor makes you a much tougher team to defend. And there have been two very different performances from these teams today. As we get going in quarter number four, they’ve got Jaylen Brown and it’s Kada in at the pivot spot manning the middle. That’s the Boston five. The 11footer and it’s off the back rim. No good. Here’s Reeves. It’s not going to go for him. White with the defensive effort. And there’s the pass to Niang. Here’s Pritchard. That three off the mark. And they had some botched coverage that turned into no coverage. Reeves the pass to Donic. It’s good from long range. Luca Dona showing you right there. He can play without the basketball. Ready on the catch [Applause] has to overton Lakers with the rebound. Donic has got his eighth rebound here tonight to the middle and foul on the shot. So he’ll get a chance at the line. You get a sense there of how challenging it is to guard DeAndre Aton. Gets good position, makes the defense react. [Applause] Shooting two. And that one misses. So both teams making some changes here. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] He hits the second from the line. The Celtics have gone 0 of three to start the fourth quarter to the paint. Whoops. They pick off the pass and pushing it up. Here’s Los Angeles. Offensive rebound out left to the wing. [Applause] Block at six. And here’s James outside. Rebound Boston. Yeah, that’s a head scratcher there. I don’t know how he could think that’s a good shot. That’s not who they want out there jacking up threes. Now here’s White. fade away and he can’t bank that one in. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for Los Angeles here in the fourth quarter. Their defense has been very strong allowing no baskets. Here’s a back to LeBron. Shoots over Gonzalez. Here’s Donic and the layup falls. and he’s now got the double double double 10 points and 12 assists. Gonzalez passes to Williams overton Williams can’t get it to go and I’m not sure that is a shot that he should be taking. Well, it’s hard to imagine that the play was designed to go in that direction. Boy, I’d be surprised if we see that again. Here’s Reeves. The Lakers need to get a shot off here. Here’s Eightton. There’s three-pointers off the mark. Well, the Celtics shooting 28%. A rocky rocky performance for them offensively. Here’s Brown with the three. Lakers have gone two of seven from the field in what’s been a cold start to the fourth quarter for them. Pass to Reeves down low. Here’s Donic and Donuch throws it down. Authoritative finish by Luca Donuch above the rim. Guys, they’re looking for a way to score here. Yeah, they’ve had a tough time taking the lid off to halt the run. Reeves with the rebound. Lakers have gone three of eight here in the fourth quarter. And that one’s good. Donic. Quick job of getting up the floor and creating early offense. You don’t give the defense any chance to set up. Sometimes you just love an easy look. And that was another look at the fantastic mobile one drive that happened a moment ago. And a drive like that one can be a knockout punch. Great finish at this juncture. Now here’s Brown. Shot from 16. That shot no good. Poked away. It’s stolen by Gonzalez. [Applause] And it’s White missing. Boy, you can just see the frustration growing on their faces. Nothing going their way. It just been one of those games and they need to find a way to turn it around before it gets completely away from them. Now here’s LeBron after the miss from Derek White and the basket is good. I’ll tell you, it’s one thing to do this at home, another to do it in a hostile environment. Boy, just sheer dominance. The ability to step into enemy territory and flat out take over. This is impressive. And Derek White picks up the foul. That’ll be his second foul of the game. Yeah, really good defensive play to cut him off there and square up. And here’s the Lakers. A 12 nothing run right now in counting. [Applause] From 12 ft out, here’s ABC. And terrific work on the offensive glass and he picks up two. ABC’s got his first two points. Austin’s gotten off to an 0 for two start from downtown here in the fourth quarter. [Applause] Boston again missing and his lateral quickness really allows him to stay in front of the shooter there and challenge the shot. And this is the key in this game. You’ve got to be able to move your feet to be successful on the defensive end. Cleveland misses the layup. He had him with that bump fake. The Celtics shooting about 26% out there. They need to get a better look. Ball’s stolen. Here’s Donic. Lays it up off the glass. Donic has got 13 points in the second half. Listen, this is becoming routine for Luca Donuch. This guy’s a big time scorer who can take over when he’s ready. Donic again. Gonzalez. Floats one. Here’s Williams. Tries again. Goes up again. Can’t get the layup. Here’s Los Angeles now. It’s been 16 straight unanswered. His first shot coming late. The shot will not fall. And it’s Boston the other way [Applause] outside. White kicks it to Williams off the left rim and out for Los Angeles. They’ve gone seven to 15 from the floor here in the fourth. Right around 46 47%. They get a bet and here’s Williams now. He’ll bring it up for the Celtics. They have yet to put up any points here in the fourth. The Lakers with the rebound. Donic has got 11 rebounds in the game. [Applause] Out to the wing. Here’s ABC. Rebound by Williams. Williams has got six rebounds in the game. Here’s White and the call on the shot that sends him to the line. Exactly what good offensive players do. Lean into that defender. Level of physicality puts you at the free throw line. two shot [Applause] and that one falls for White Gabe Benson. He’s checked in for Donic. [Applause] and that one goes in. Two from the line that time. Los Angeles has gotten just one of four threepointers to go down for them here in the fourth. [Applause] rebounded by the Celtics. And he uses the glass on the layup. Well, there’s an aggressive mentality in play. Working close, find a way to score. Here are the Lakers. They’re on a 16-4 run. [Applause] And he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. Yeah, easy call. [Applause] [Applause] shooting two. [Applause] No good on that one. The Celtics making a switch here. Howers checked in. [Applause] And he’s good on the second. [Applause] Boston’s gotten off to an 0 for two start from downtown here in the fourth quarter. [Applause] [Music] Pulls it up. He hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. Yeah. And how about the stick tuitiveness on that possession. Stayed with it. Didn’t give up until the ball was in the basket. Pass to ABC. Here’s Vincent. Here’s ABC. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] [Applause] And the first one at the line is good. [Applause] [Applause] And so he makes both from the line. And for the Celtics, they’re shooting at ghastly 26% from the field. Their offensive game looking completely out of whack. To the inside, here’s Williams. Beautiful dish. And the layup goes down. Well, hit a man in stride. That is a textbook delivery. [Applause] [Applause] To the left wing. Five on the clock. [Applause] Los Angeles with another miss. Listen, offensively, they’re very comfortable with him taking that shot. It’s a good look under very little pressure. He just can’t convert. Boy, against so little defensive pressure. You have to convert that. The pass to Cleba. [Applause] shoots off the step back. That shot no good. So, the Sonics will take it the other way. And as we head to the final buzzer here, a crushing blowout. Big- time dominance. And and this will go in the record books as a golly win for the Lakers. And every opportunity they managed to push the ball and keep the uptempo game going. I think it paid off, that’s for sure. And a great team effort tonight. Helped in large part with contributions in the nice night it ended up being for DeAndre Aton. No doubt he came to play tonight. This guy has been aggressive and effective. Boston’s gone 03 so far in the fourth quarter from long range. There’s 48 seconds left in the fourth and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. No question he got bumped on that shot. [Applause] two. [Applause] No good on the free throw. Boston making a switch here. Garz has checked in. [Applause] And that trip coming up empty. Missing both. [Applause] Pass to ABC. Pass to Vincent. Shoots over Gonzalez. And again, the Lakers no good. Celtics on offense. [Applause] Driving in. No good. Shot missing. And so it’s the Lakers taking care of business here. A resounding victory for them. And Greg in enemy territory no less. That’s exactly right. But with the way they controlled the game and and just completely took the crowd out of it, that’s how to get it done on the road. And a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge standing by Courtz. David, thanks very much. LeBron, you got after it on defense. You look motivated. You know, I heard it all from, you know, is this the last that we’ve seen LeBron and the passion that he plays? And then defensively, um, you know, he’s not very good defensively, but you can’t single me out. You know, it will never be a possession where a coach or or a teammate or a player on opposing team will single me out defensively, um, because I’m in tune with that side as well. So, you know, we got a lot of guys that play the defensive side and it’s important for me to be on that side as well and take that challenge just as much as offensive end. Seems like you took some words to heart, man. Thanks. Back to you. All right, David. Thank you. Thank you for joining us. That’ll do it for now for Greg Anthony, Doris Burke, and David Aldridge. This is Kevin Harland saying thanks for watching and we’ll see you next Huh?
