Tennessee Titans could be like first year of Texans’ turnaround | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC

GATES, GO TO DENVER, TAKE ON IT LOOKED LIKE THE TITANS MIGHT BEAT THEM FOR A WHILE, LIKE THE BRONCOS OFFENSE. WASN’T EXACTLY LIKE B, KNICKS WASN’T EXACTLY THE FUTURE DREW BREES. RIGHT OUT OF THE GATES. IT WAS A LITTLE SHAKY AT TIMES I I THINK CAM WARD WAS FINE. I MEAN IT WAS GOOD. THERE’S A LOT OF GAMES LEFT, THEY’RE NOT GOING TO BE PLAYING THE BRONCOS IN DENVER EVERY WEEK. I SAID, ALL ALONG THEY COULD BE LIKE THE TEXANS OF 2 YEARS AGO. THEY, THEY’RE GOING TO WIN THE GAMES, THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO WIN AND THEY’LL LOSE THE GAMES, THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO LOSE AND THEY MAY HAVE 8 9 OR 10 WINS WHEN IT’S ALL SAID AND DONE. RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT. I MEAN, LISTEN, I DON’T THINK I’M EXPECTING HUGE THINGS FROM THEM, ESPECIALLY RIGHT OFF THE BAT HERE. IT DOESN’T GET ANY TOUGHER ON THE ROAD AGAINST THAT DEFENSE IN DENVER. THEY’RE EXCITED. THEY THINK THEY HAVE A SUPER BOWL TEAM. SO YEAH, THE GOOD. BUT IT DOESN’T MEAN CAM MORE DIDN’T LOOK GOOD. DAMN, I STILL LIKE THE WAY HE LOOKS. HE’S STILL POISED CAN THROW THE BALL. MAKE SOME HIGHLIGHT TYPE THROWS SO I LOVE ALL OF THAT. HE HAD A FEW DROPS LATE IN THE FOOTBALL GAME THAT HURT HIM AS WELL. BUT THAT WAS A, I MEAN, THE BRONCOS D IS REAL AND I GIVE CREDIT TO TENNESSEE FOR HANGING AROUND LITTLE TOO LOOSE GOOD. BUT IT DOESN’T MEAN CAM KNICKS I THINK WAS A LITTLE HAD A FUMBLE YOU KNOW THIS WAS THE TENNESSEE TITANS DEFENSE. THEY WERE NUMBER 2 IN FOOTBALL LAST YEAR. I THINK PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW GOOD THEY ARE. THEY GOT SOME PEOPLE UP FRONT, THEY ARE REALLY GOOD IN THE SECONDARY AND DINARD WILSON IS A REALLY GOOD DAMN DEFENSIVE COACH WHO GIVES PEOPLE PROBLEMS AND I FELT LIKE BO NICKS KIND OF CAME OUT WAS LIKE I’M WE’RE GOING TO PUT ON A SHOW WE’RE GOING TO SHOW EVERYBODY AND BECAUSE OF THAT ATTITUDE, YEAH, I THINK IT COST THEM A LITTLE BIT BUT EITHER WAY THEY MADE THE BIG PLAYS WHEN THEY HAD TO THE THE THE THE THE TITANS HAD A CHANCE AT 1 POINT WITH THE GAME BEING 13 TO 12, THEY GOT THE BALL. THEY WERE IN FIELD GOAL RANGE, I BELIEVE AFTER A GOOD PUNT RETURN. AND HE SHOWED HIS ROOKIES. OKAY, HE TOOK A BAD SACK ON SECOND DOWN THAT 1. OH THEY’RE ON THE EDGE OF FIELD GOAL RANGE AND THEN HE TOOK ANOTHER 1 ON THIRD DOWN, WHERE YOU GOING? OH, THEY WERE SET UP TO TAKE THE LEAD. IT DIDN’T HAPPEN AND RJ HARVEY, BIG RUN AT THE END OF THE FOOTBALL GAME, KIND OF PUTS THEM AWAY AND THEY SCORE THE TOUCHDOWN. YEAH, I’M SORRY TO INTERRUPT. YOU CARRIES FOR 70 YARDS, JK DOBBINS, HAD 63. SO THEY GOT WHAT THEY NEEDED OUT OF THE RUNNING GAME. THEY’RE GOING TO NEED BOTH RUNNING AND PASSING AND THAT DEFENSE AND THAT DEFENSE CAME THROUGH AS THE BRONCOS, GET AND, AND ALONG WITH THE CHARGERS AND THE RAIDERS, THEY HAVE LEFT THE CHIEFS IN THE BASEMENT OF THE AFC, WEST ALL ALONE AT 0. AND 1, I WANT TO SAY 1 LAST THING ABOUT THE TITANS GAME, THE STORIES AT PFT BUT THERE WAS A CATCH FROM LA YOR. YEAH, ANOTHER ROOKIE RIGHT? THE TITANS ROOKIE WHO ONCE HAD A GREAT GAME AGAINST TRAVIS HUNTER, WHEN HUNTER WAS PLAYING CORNER, BUT THERE WAS A QUESTION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE CATCH WAS GOOD. YEAH, AND BRIAN CALLAHAN AND THIS IS THE KIND CAREFUL ABOUT WHEN YOU’RE ALREADY FACING SOME SCRUTINY. AND THERE’S A NEW GM AND THERE’S A NEW GUY IN CHARGE OF THE FOOTBALL OPERATION. HE EXPLAINED THAT THEY DIDN’T CHALLENGE IT BECAUSE HE GOT A FOOT DOWN AND AN ELBOW DOWN. WELL, THAT MEANS IT’S A CATCH. YEAH, IF AN ELBOW, JUST GOT AN ELBOW, IT’S AN ELBOW HITS 2 FEET OR ANY BODY PART. SO IF THE ELBOW’S DOWN THAT’S A CATCH AND THE WAY HE EXPLAINED IT IT’S LIKE DID THEY NOT REALIZE? YEAH, A LITTLE SHAKY THERE. DID THEY NOT REALIZE? THAT’S A CATCH. AND THAT’S KIND OF AN INSTITUTIONAL COACHING STAFF THING THAT THE TITANS BETTER GET THAT UNDER CONTROL QUICKLY OR THERE WILL BE A NEW COACH NEXT YEAR. IF THAT IS A SYMPTOM OF A DEEP

  1. Callahan stupidity is messing with my own brain. that catch by Ayomanor I was like isn’t that a catch his elbow was literally in bounds but there was no challenge 🤦‍♂️

  2. 2:00 Chris Simms, that 3rd down sack was because of the play call, all deep developing routes w/ no check down option. Sure, Ward could have maybe gotten rid of it, but he had maybe 3 seconds before the rush was on him and intentional grounding would have been just as bad. I need to see the all 22 to confirm.

And Callahan HAS to know the Ayomanor play was a catch otherwise he's utterly incompetent and needs to go promptly.

  3. We lost bc of Coach Cally. Gutless play calling. And he didn't challenge the Ayomanor catch when he had an elbow down. In our post game presser our coach actually said "one elbow doesn't equal two feet" with a straight face. He doesn't even know the rules.

  4. Cam Ward with no interceptions is the only storyline of this game. He had 10 drives that started on the easy side of the 50 but could not move the ball. More of a testament to Denver.

  5. they woefully underestimate callahan's stupidity. Reason why their pass defense stats is so good is because thet stayed turning the ball over on their side of the field and op special teams rips them apart on returns which gives their offense a very short field.
