D-backs vs. Giants Game Highlights (9/8/25) | MLB Highlights
Diamondbacks and Giants are separated by only a half game as they both chase a wildcard spot. You hear veteran players talk all the time. What’s your goal as a team? We want to play meaningful games in September. And boy are these games going to be meaningful. On the hill tonight for the Giants will be their ace Logan Webb. Just start of his seventh year at the big league level. This will be start number 30 on the area. Another solid season. 13-9 with a 317 RA. First pitch of the ball game is driven to right and right to Drew Gilbury and he got him. Take a look at the location they want to go with the fast ball. Front door sink at 92 and perfect placement. Swinging a high popup. Adamus out. Ramos in. Ramos calling side retires. Quick inning for web. Giants are coming up. Well, we know that Nil Chris Matt throws a lot of off speed stuff. slow curves, change ups, change of speed off of the change up, all in an effort to pitch to soft contact. If he gets that soft contact, he needs solid defense behind him. Something that Ryan Nelson in the Dback’s bullpen did not get yesterday. As the one-two pitch, swing, and a foul tip. Moreno hangs on and there’s a quick strike out for Chris. 02. There’s another one. Oh, he turned them all inside out with that change up. Two batters, two strikeouts with that change for Nil Prismat. Julia Thomas 15 homers since All-Star break. Most by a Giant shortstop after the break since Rich Aurelia hit 25 in 2001. Swing and he lines one down the left field line. That’s in there. Base hit. Racing over to cut it off toward the corner is McCarthy. Adamus is going to test him. Heading for second. The throw in is way off line and cut off by the shortstop permo. A double for Will Thomas and Smith breaking ball out towards center field. Playable. Thomas moving back. He’s got it. And that’ll do it for the Giants. They get a two-out double, but they don’t score. And another walk issued here by Web. His second this inning. And now two on for first baseman Ilamaro Vargas. Here’s the pitch. Vargas swings, hits a ground ball, hits off the mound. Oh, it’s bobbled by the second baseman. Cause everyone will hold. I don’t know if he took his eye off the ball for a moment to see if he had time to throw out the guy at second or whatever. But first, you’ve got to field the ball. And a golden opportunity here for Jake McCarthy. McCarthy heads for Triple Alley. And here we go. It’s down on Triple Alley. Gabby’s home. Alex home. Here comes Vargas. McCarthy’s in at third and he’s got a threerun triple. They made that air hurt in a hurry. Two pitches later, a hanging change up off the wall in the deepest part of the park. He hit it to the absolute perfect spot. Well, Giants could use an answer that. I mean, that was an ugly, ugly top of the second inning with big stakes tonight. I mean, these games, this is do or die time for the Giants. So, an answer would be welcome. 02 pitch curve ball. There’s a high drive deep right field back at the wall looking up. Goodbye onto the arcade. A two-run homer for Jung Hul Lee. Well, that’s how you answer back. That’s exactly what that is. That’s an answer and that gets the pitch excited. And Jung Hulie does it in a two strike count. He goes down and golfs a curveball. And on a night that’s really allowing this ballpark to play small. He pumps out his eighth of the year. So two down here now is Elliot Ramos, the leadoff man. Three to2 Dbacks. Ramos sends a fly ball towards the left field line. McCarthy with a running catch. Tracks it down and the inning comes to an end. Oh, that saved extra bases and the Dbacks will go to the third with the lead. Oh, a chance for Blaze. Two on and two out. He tap back to the bound his first time. Alexander swings. Grounds it into right field. That’s a base hit. Marte rounding third. He’s going to come home and score. The throw goes to third. He is safe. throw to second, not in time from Chapman. Alexander extends the lead. He takes the extra base and it’s now four to2. One-two pitch is a ground ball towards second. CS has it. He’ll throw to first in time for the out, but another run for the Diamondbacks. Dom Smith’s been swinging the bat really well overall. 291 batting average. High drive to right. It is out of here. A two-run homer for Dom Smith. to tie the game at four. You talk about getting both cheeks in that lower body plants and the back leg throws and that is just a perfect swing. Lower body in sync with the upper body all the way through the throw of the bat head and there’s your result and for Dominic Smith he got all of it. So now Carol is aboard. There goes Carol. O2 is high. Bailey’s throw to second. Not going to be in time. Gets into center field. Carol pops to his feet. Motors on to third and he’s in there safely to left. Ramos got it. This throw is a good one. It’s pretty impressive when you can make a guy with good speed freeze at third base, but he really had nice momentum coming into the play and that ball was hit on the button. Web wise 3-2 pitch. He struck him out swinging with the change up. Carol is stranded at third. Matt Chapman reached on a throwing error by Heraldo for Domo. Luis Mtos pinch hit for Drew Gilbert and walked Julie had a bunt base hit. Base is the full of Giants. Kaz had two good at bats. A single and a line drive to right down the line and a fair ball. One run scores, two run score. And you have to imagine that feels pretty good for Christian CS. He had made an error in the second inning and cost the Giants three runs and this makes up for it a little bit. Infield is in. Still nobody out. Here is Bailey. Bailey. It’s a high five ball left center field. One run’s going to tag for sure. And Bluffing is C. Scoring is Lee. And it’s now seven to four. Take a look at Gilbert reaction. Ramos has struck out. He is lined out to left. Ronald High drive left field out of there way up into the bleachers. A spectacular home run by Elliot Ramos deep into the night. And now this is a fiveun inning for the Giants who lead it nine to four. Kevin got things going in the sixth inning when he bounced one to Purdomo who threw it away towards the gap. McCarthy looking out of here. Matt Chapman hit a bullet and the left fielder McCarthy was getting ready to play a carum. Instead, it just sailed right over the wall. So Chapman has the fourth Giants home run of the game. It’s 10 to four. Moreno has walked. He’s singled and he’s lined out to left. swung on that is crushed high and deep left field. Ramos given a courtesy look, but that thing is out of here and the Dbacks able to scratch one back thanks to Gabby Moreno’s eighth of the season. A solo shot. It’s now a 10 to five ball game. Now the one pitch. There’s a shot deep right field and caught at the wall by MCO. And this goes I mean full extension with the left hand. Feels where the wall is, realizes he’s got room. Bailey has fouled out to third. Grounded into a double play. And then he hit the sack fly that knocked in the Giants seventh run of the game. Bailey spins on this one. High and deep and out of here. Number four for Patrick Bailey and number five on the night for the team. A home run for Patrick Bailey. Rather majestically hit 11 to five. Two down. Here comes Catel Marte. C game time. So the Giants in the first game of this three-game series, they just about do it all overcoming a three-run deficit. And Logan Webb might pick up his 14th win of the

We love our neighborhood crackhead, Drew Gilbert. Keep bringing that energy, man! We love to see it!

Man, we really could be 1GB right now. This team has a big chance right now. Philly is tough for NYM. This homestand with the top of our rotation going in order is great timing.

Gilbert, Adames, and Chapman are some of the best hype men ever. And Lee literally golfing out there to take us to a win. Love my giants!!
I noticed no Devers in the highlights. Yet we still win in fantastic fashion! Thing are looking up since July/August!
we need a sweep, not just a series win, Arizona on our tail
