Ok. Maybe a just a little bit sarcastic.

  1. hey say what you want of the guy but this summer provided entertainment and passion, he was absolutely right!

  2. I really hope the fans realize what a special season this has been.

    * On pace for best record in franchise history
    * Best record in baseball by 5.5 games
    * 7.5 game lead in the division
    * Franchise record 14 game winning streak
    * Best 30-game stretch in franchise history (26-4 record)
    * Pocket pancakes
    * Power of friendship
    * Vaughn’s incredible first 30 days
    * #1 in NL for runs scored, hits, batting average, OBP, and stolen bases

    All by a bunch of Average Joes.

  3. Yes it has been a very fun season but that doesn’t make Mark’s comment any less stupid to say.

  4. Regardless of how the rest of the season goes I had a lot of fun, yelich playing well, young stars, FREE BURGERS, the dominance over multiple teams. It’s one of the best seasons in recent memory.

  5. NGL, beating the Dodgers six games in a row on either side of the All-Star Break already kinda felt like the World Series to me.

  6. Thanks Pat for all you have done for the Brewer organization. It’s fun to watch a team win but it’s also great to watch the team having fun. A season I will never forget. Watch out World Series were coming for you!!!

  7. Unpopular opinion, but I really think Mark A gets a lot more hate from fans than he deserves.

  8. I didn’t disagree with Mark: as an owner he has the responsibility to both field a competitive team and provide quality summer experiences. Even if a team is good, people don’t like having a shitty time at a game. Not sure what the uproar was about.

  9. My older relatives are really breaking my balls for the tantrum I threw in April about this team

  10. I would venture to sat, that since the last expansion in 1998, the Brewers would probably be top 10 in wins in the past 27 years. A remarkable feat considering the 98 to 08 seasons were lack luster at best.

    This team does what it needs to, to keep competitive. Kudos to everyone for that.

  11. Did anyone watch any of the Pirates games?

    They make more money than the Brewers. And they have empty seats. Most Brewer home games have been close to a sell out. And a lot of fun being had.

    Yes, I’d love to see a World Series championship. And I’d like to see it done the old school way. Built from within and a few added pieces.

  12. The thing is, the Brewers are good and didn’t waste a bunch of resources doing so.

    Who gives one shit what the payroll is if the team is good?

    The other thing is, the Brewers have the smallest market in the league, and they aren’t going to win a bidding war with other teams even if they wanted to and tried, IMO that’d be just plain stupid.

    Where did the Brewers spend money that no one talks about and was a much better investment?

    Drafting and developing players.

    The Brewers have spent a lot of money in places to find and develop talent. They spent $20 million on a state of the art academy in the Dominican Republic. They’ve invested to create a pitching lab, and spend much more on scouts, data analysts, and coaches that develop players than other teams. That’s why they have a steady flow of young talent and they can let costly players go and not skip a beat. Just look how well that has worked so far.

    So to the people that bitch about Mark and not having a high payroll, why? They’d maybe have a point if the Brewers were a perennial bottom feeder but they’ve been quite the opposite. Those people can go cheer for some big market team if big free agents is what they want. The Brewers will never be that team under any owner.

  13. His cheap ass ways may have backed into him a real contending team. Baseball is and always will be weird like that.

  14. Never thought I’d give a billionaire praise, but here I go:

    Mark is worth an estimated $0.7B to $1.7B. He owns 40% of the team valued at $1.7B with an EBITDA of $25 million. That means half of his net worth is tied up in a risky investment when he could probably get better returns from other ventures like Crescent. I get the sense he loves baseball.

    If any of the ~2,000 billionaires worth more than Mark think they can run a team better, they’d buy it. Alas, this is a small market. He knows how to spend where it matters most and how to hire excellent leadership. I think having the best record in baseball proves he and the other 60% of shareholders might be the best in the league building a winning team.

    I don’t want him to sell like Selig. I don’t want him to become the commissioner because all the other owners think he’s good. I want him to keep getting the team into the playoffs which tends to be a crapshoot.

  15. Remember when they had 11 wins and everyone was like, “Burgers!” And they were like, “Psych! No burgers”, then they were like “Just kidding, we’re getting all of you free burgers!”, and won 14 games straight?

    I remember. It was good.
