Cardinals vs. Mariners Game Highlights (9/9/25) | MLB Highlights
The Mariners on a roll. They won three in a row looking for another series win and on the mound, George Kirby 8 to 7 overall on the season with a 4.47 R A two up and two down here is Alec Belson swinging a fly ball to the shallow center field. Julio racing up. He is there and he makes the catch skip at the end of his run. Matthew Liberator looking to make it two good ones in a row. 27th start for the 25 year old and he was much improved last time out against the A’s five and one third innings who he was once traded for to begin the ball game tonight. He was traded by Tampa Bay to that is to ST Louis January of 2020 Randy Rosa was part of the package in return for the race. Little pop. Ferine goes out in, comes Victor. He’s got that. Cal Raley continues to make history. He is charging towards another milestone. He is one home run shy of matching the great the Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle 54 home run season in 1961 for the most home runs hit in a single year by a switch hitter could happen tonight. First pitch hit to left but no carry to it. That’s easy for Burleson and very economically, Matthew Liberto. Two outs. Here’s julio Rodriguez having a great second half drives this one toward right. New Bar is there and a six pitch hitting for Matthew Liberto can’t do much better than that. Wilson Contreras is back from suspension. That’s good news. 20 homer man Cardinals have been looking for some thump in his absence. Maybe tonight tonight he can do that and welcome back, Wilson an opposite field single. That’s the first hit of the game. So good start in the ST Louis second. The Cardinals have the leadoff man on Nolan Gorman zero for four with three strikeouts last night. This one served toward left. That one is going to get down and behind a Rosa Contreras around second. He’s going to come around and score. Gorman’s going to slam on the breaks, he’ll stop at second and the Cardinals get a break and the game’s first run, it’s one to nothing as a Rosena tried to make the great play and allows the Cardinals to score a run probably would have been a double anyway, but wouldn’t have scored and he played it differently. So now Gorman is on at second. Nobody out here’s Thomas. So JC into right center that’s going to get down for a hit. Here comes Gorman around third, he’s going to score. It’s 2 to 0. The Cardinals go opposite field with back to back hits and take a 2 to 0 lead and a good start for the Cardinals here against a pitcher who has struggled in his last four starts, single and a walk two of those for Liberator. And now the bottom feeds the top of Rose Arena, Raley and Rodriguez Robles at second JP at first and now you’ve got to deal with Rose Arenas got a two nothing lead and it’s precarious right now as we play in the bottom of the third high fly ball roads are a three run blast demolished. And with one swing, the Mariners had the lead. It is 3 to 2 number 27 for Randy , no doubt. Hey, Saint Louis, you can’t have him back. The trade for Lito randy Rosa going to Tampa Bay Mariners get him last year, man. He’s come up with some huge base hits and big home runs number 27 on the year and the Mariners have the lead and all of a sudden the Cardinals threatening. They’ve got runners on the corners, a walk and a broken bat single. This is gonna take some fancy pitching to keep the lead here. 32 Mariners fourth inning. This gets away. Let’s see, he is out, swings and comes up empty. He swung and missed and the ball hit him on the breaking ball. And so it was a dead ball. Fortunately it got by cal and that’s why who would have scored and tied the game had to go back to third. Cardinals don’t get a run. They’re still 1st and 3rd 2 outs. It hits off the bag. Four Cardinals might want to look at this one. I thought he might have been safe. He is safe, but it was a spectacular play by the. So we’re tied once again and ST Louis isn’t done runners on 1st and 2nd and here comes the top of the order in new, he singled last time and another 3 to 2 count is low ball four. So Kirby’s walked two men in this game. That is a rarity. He’s walked two or fewer in 100. 1 of 100 8 career starts entering play tonight. He is not sharp, swung on bounding ball right side. Polanco scoops it up, throws to first on the move in time to get the outs. Louis gets one but they leave the bases loaded that brings up josh Taylor hit a big night last night. The go ahead two run double also scored an important run in that inning. The two wants swung on blasted right field massive bat flip as this one sails away. Goodbye, Josh Naylor. A massive blast. The Mariners have the lead. It is 4 to 3. Mariners playing some long ball tonight. He knew it when it left the bat. He nearly threw his bat into the dugout. As he raises the trident and yells at the crowd, four straight Mariners have reached and the bases are jammed for Rosa and Libby has been a little bit lost and there’s no place to hide right now. If you’re a starting pitcher, this is your game. Swung on. Laser right field pwe new bar at the track reaches up, makes the catch Garver taking from third. He is going to score. The Mariners get another sacrifice. Randy Rosa Arena. It is 5 to 3. Mariners, a new pitcher for the Mariners. Caleb Ferguson is now on in relief. So George goes four innings tonight. He threw a lot of pitches, two up and two down for the Cardinals. Here’s a swing and a drive to right field hit hard but Roli to his right is there and he makes the catch and that’s going to retire the side. Great job by Caleb Ferguson. He won two threes, the Cardinals , the Mariners now runners at the corners after the JP base hit and here comes Randy Rosa, right. He’s already done a once three run home run. Also a sacrifice fly, a long pause and the pitch swing and a slider strikes him out down goes rainy and the Mariners done in the sixth, they threatened but turned away bullpen. Tonight has retired all they face. He’s going to throw here to Herrera. So two outs swung on that is blasted center field. Julio racing over. He’s at the track he’s at the wall, he reach out makes a tremendous catch. He spirals into the wall. Julio does it again, flashes the no fly zone, throws the ball into the stands. It is celebration in center field as julio does it one more time. The Mariners have a new pitcher right hander. Matt Brash will take over in relief tape short and through Contreras has that second hit and now Nolan Gorman is coming up with a chance to the game with the big fly here, one on one away, the 0 to 2 on the way swing and a miss strike three. Gorman goes down swinging. So two strikeouts for Brash, now it’s AJ C swing and a miss strike three. Matt Brash strikes out the side here in the top of the eighth inning, the new pitcher for the Cardinals will be big right hander ryan Fernandez, the Mariners have Rivas on at second two outs bottom of the eight ST Louis 5 to 3. Randy Aros Arena has driven in four runs tonight. Big chopper over to third base and randy, it’s dropped. Riva stays put, it’s dropped at first base by Contreras on a low throw from Nolan Gorman and the inning continues. So Riley will get a chance to hit with two outs after an E three at first goes pitch high and catch a tag in time. They take Raley’s hands and your smoke. Andrés Muñoz will take over in relief looking for the final three outs in this one fin is aboard and now the tying run comes to the plate as the lineup turns over soft chopper Munoz lets it go past the Polaco charges and that’s the ball game. The Mariners win it. They have won the series. Don’t look. Now, the Mariners are a game outside of first place.

Where all the quitters at from a few days ago. Now going 10-7 the rest of the way gets 87-75 which would be enough to win the West if Astros go 9-8. Who knew that a 4 game series against the Angels would be the biggest of the season
It's time for me to be done with the Cardinals for the year…they're horrible. Can't hit or play simple, fundamental baseball. They need a LOT of help.
What has this Etsy Witch done to us
Hey Astros!! Don't look now but the red hot U.S.S MARINER is about to run your astronaut over …sodo MOJO alive and well A.L. West is ours for first time in 25 yrs .like Jay Buhner said f@#$ the wild card let's take the division!!
Jays fan, but Mariners close 2nd love to see this! Go Seattle
Crazy how the M's are only one game back after horrible back to back road trips.
RANDY LAND!!!
Man!!!! If the playoffs came through Seattle. 🤔 This lineup is dangerous.
Jajaja im telling y'all these umpires are so blind…top 4th that play at 1st base was safe by a mile and he called it out😂…..i started to think they do it on purpose so that review thing get more effective
Love to see the bullpen hold up like that
I'm a Lefebvre Belebvre
Go M's! 🔱
An outfielder who can hit home runs? Wow, what a luxury! I wonder where he came from, Mr. Mozeliak?
As a Cards fan I could care less about these games, our season is over I'm gonna be cheering for the Mariners this postseason go and get yourselves a ring lads
Here we go… great job bullpen, time to trend.
Arozerana is gonna get plunked. Noone showboats more.
The Etsy witch really did unfuck the Mariners
LETS GO ETSY WITCH
3:38 nutmeg K is insane
If only every game the rest of the season was at home for the M's. I still believe! (sort of)
The cardinals are pathetic this year. Why not change some things, like, fire the manager and general manager?what good have they done?
Gooooo Mariners 🎉Bendiciones
Mariners 2.5
Mariners got lucky here – Arozarena running with 2 outs (AND THE LEAD) is a terrible play, taking the bat out of your best hitter's hands. Gotta give Raleigh a chance to extend the lead there, didn't bite them this time but that won't get you far in October
The Seattle Mariners are 77-68🔵🟢⚪️⛴️🔱
someone in the ms front office better be backing a truck filled with cash up to josh naylor's house
These last two wins are huge for the M's. In both games they went down early by a couple of runs and fought back to win close games where the bullpen in both games was stellar. It bodes well for post season play, but that is still a long ways away. The margin for losing is so thin.
And I wouldn't be surprised if both the M's and the Rangers push past Houston at this point. Rangers are playing very well. Houston appears to be fading.
