Must be looking for something shorter, you'd have to think the (desired) AAV wouldn't be too much higher.

  1. Gosh dang, why?

Man… play the hand you are dealt. Do you really have such little faith in the org? Didn’t those big buyout penalties just fall off? Isn’t this team primed for contention over the next like, 8 years?

Why would you turn this down?

  2. anyone know the logic behind this? does his camp just prefer him a shorter deal or is he unsure with his future with minnesota?

  3. If this is true I feel bad for Wild fans even with them being a division rival. You’re offering to make this guy the highest paid player in history and he just says nah.

  4. Funny how people always jump to attack the city, it’s a job I promise you guys sure living situation could be a factor but there’s also these things exist called teammates who he may not like or get along with.

Also this crazy concept that a generational eastern euro hockey player might not have fun playing a certain style.

  5. Minneapolis /St Paul are very cool cities as well – a lot worse places he could end up!

  6. Edmonton is shitting in their pants right now…no doubt McDavid’s and Kaprizov’s agents are in cahoots! I would love to be added to that whatsapp group.

  7. If this is true, what does he want? Does he want to leave? Does he want more? Tbh if I were him, I’d be careful. He’s ridiculously injury-prone and it lowers his value as an asset. Idk if many other teams would offer him this much

  8. All the comments seem to think he wants more money, feel like the obvious answer is he doesn’t want to sign with the wild at all, not a money issue.

  9. Get rid of the cap and this isn’t a problem in my mind. I think when they put up the AAV, they should add the % it takes up on the team’s total cap so fans can see why it’s a difficult decision for both player and franchise.
