Kenny Clark: It Takes All Eleven Men | Dallas Cowboys 2025

So you you play like that after just a couple days of practice. What to expect a week of practice, been here a month, really getting comfortable in the system, man. Just just being me, man. Uh just coming in every day, showing up. Uh you know, being consistent and um you know, down in and down out, just getting my giving my best and uh just doing my job. Uh you know, that’s all I’m about. Uh doing my job at a high level. Uh playing fast, playing physical, and just being relentless. What’s the What was the difference to run defense in the second half? Yeah, y’all really shut them down. We love the middle. Uh I mean I just feel like um we we just I mean pretty much I feel like the whole game we pretty much played physical. A lot of the a lot of the runs came from uh from the quarterback scrambling. Um and that’s that’s stuff that we can definitely fix and just be more disciplined communicate more. Uh but as far as the run game itself, I don’t feel like um I feel like everybody pretty much all took all 11 and everybody was tackling uh you know, gap sound and uh knocking back the line of scrimmage. Do you take it personally that it’s on you? I mean, they brought you in here to specifically help stop the run. It’s been an issue. Uh I mean, honestly, yeah, it’s all 11, man. Yeah, we need that guy to help us. Yeah, like I said, like it stopping the run just don’t take uh one guy. Um, like I said, I’m going to come in and be physical and beat me. Um, and I expect everybody else to do the same. And as long as we doing that as a team, um, that’s how you start the run. How does this line compare to the one at Great Bench? Uh, man, we got a lot of talent here. Um, and you know, when I first when I first came here, I didn’t really I didn’t I didn’t know anybody uh mainly besides like Osa and Jay and uh and and Si. Uh, so when I when I came here, um, just looking at the roster, we got some guys, you know what I’m saying? We got a lot of guys that can rush, a lot of guys that’s active and and explosive. Uh, so, uh, we got a lot of talent and, uh, and yeah, we got a lot of guys that can do a lot of things. With all that talent, what do you feel like you guys really need to focus on in order to be successful? Uh, just being the best, being our best self. Um, I mean, like I said, you got a lot of guys that can do a lot of different things. Um, but at the end of the day, I mean, football is all about just being being playing fast and uh playing physical in the run game. And then when we do get a chance to to rush the passer, we got to be relentless and communicate and be disciplined in our wrestlings. And you haven’t been here long at all, but have you been able to talk with Moz, the younger guy, but able to do many? Yeah, I’ve been talking to Mazi a lot. Um, and just my my message to him always been just just making sure he coming in intentional every day. Um, no matter the meeting room, uh, individual work, uh, you know, scout team and and during team reps, just making sure he coming in and just being intentional about everything you’re doing, coming in with the right mindset, uh, in the weight room, all that kind of stuff, and all that stuff, uh, will carry itself over to the field. Do you feel like that’s what he really needs to focus on? I mean, that’s I mean, that’s just how I’m wired, you know? So, I’m just trying to give him everything that that I got. The moving process been like, obviously, if you came to the team in the offse, you have a time to move all your stuff, move the family. What’s that meant like? Yeah, I I still ain’t moved there. I’m still in the hotel. Uh, so yeah, I’m still, yeah, living right here. And, uh, I mean, but it’s cool though, you know, allowing me to get a chance to just lock in on my on the playbook. Uh, my family, they come here, uh, they know, they get here today. Uh, they flew back to Green Bay, so they they’d be out here today. No, I was at home. I was at home. Yeah, I had a big old like party and uh Yeah, we was at at the house. Start looking at that draft. Everybody went that first. Yeah, I mean we we had a really good draft class. That 2016 draft class was great. Um and you know, just just credit to to all the guys that has that’s been there. I mean, it’s hard to get to to year 10, you know what I’m saying? It’s it’s definitely, you know, it’s a long road. Uh, but I mean, I was the youngest guy draft drafted in my draft class, too. So, uh, yeah. I mean, I’m just I’m going to keep going. How’s the body feeling after week one? I feel great. I feel great. Uh, you know, I mean, normal soreness, but we back at we back right back to it. What do you see from Russell Wilson? Uh, I mean, first thing first, we got to we got to uh stop him from running. I know uh they didn’t have such a great day passing the ball the last game. So, um you got to expect them to throw some screens. Got to expect him to for him to get on the move a little bit more. Um so, uh as a defensive line, we got to be more um we got to be more sound in our in our gaps. Uh sound in our in our rush lanes. And then, uh you know, it’s all about stopping the run first and foremost and getting them to drop back and pass. And we got to get after them when they when when they do that. You feel comfortable being here or is it still going to take you some time? Not just on the field, but everything you got? Yeah, I mean I’m feeling comfortable. I I I just got my uh got my cars here yesterday. Uh uh got a chance to drive around and, you know, move around the city a little bit. Um and you know, I still been at the hotel, but I got my spot now. Uh so, I mean, you know, slowly but surely, you know, I’m I’m getting the hang of everything. Uh but I feel comfortable. I mean, all my teammates been been real uh welcoming and uh you know, all the staff and everything been real real welcoming to my family and myself. So, uh yeah, I’m comfortable for sure. does these radio interviews every week and then the one he did yesterday he said that uh you and Dak had the two you were the two highest rated players in the team off of off of week one kind of what you expected that surprise you at all man I I mean I’m just here to play ball man um like I said like my I feel like my best is is the very best and as long as I’m doing that coming in playing relentless and being consistent with what I’m doing uh I feel like you know I’m I’m I’m the best you know at what I do so that’s all I got to do is just keep on being consistent, uh, playing physical, uh, playing with that effort. Um, and you know, when I get my opportunities to to to rush and I got to win my one-on- ones, um, and just be violent. You know what I’m saying? Just just play my style of ball and they all show up on film. As a veteran player, you come, you got young guys on the team, whether this situation in Green Bay, how do you feel them out to say, “Hey, when do I help them, mentor them, and that kind of thing?” Yeah, I mean I feel like last week uh you know I was kind of you know just feeling myself out you know seeing how the team you know um work. But uh you know as I’m getting comfortable definitely talking to the to all the guys a lot more and just uh you know whether it’s how we practice um you know how we meet um you know everything you know just all the little things. uh is just trying to just get give everybody, you know, all of my expertise of what I know and uh you know, just trying to help this team win, you know, because we got a lot of talent and uh we can we can do a lot of uh great things this year and uh if we come in with the same with the right with the right mindset every single day, uh the sky is the limit for this team. We got to be consistent in that in doing that, though. Who was the veteran at Green Bay that came in to kind of help you get going, man? Uh, I mean, first when I first got in the league, it was it was Mike Daniels. Uh, you know, he’s great D tackle, guy that that that really pushed me. Uh, Ricky Jean Francois. Uh, you know, great guy. Uh, Julius Peppers, Clay Matthews, uh, you know, David Bakari is a guy that I I worked out with during the offseason. Just got a chance to see how he works. Uh, he really pushed me during the offseason and all kind of stuff in that practice. Uh Aaron of course like I got so had so many vets you know that I got a chance to take stuff from uh and just watch them work and seeing them at their prime and see how they work. Uh so I mean I just try to take a little bit of everything from them. Ken how how well you graded out against the Eagles and just how well you played in that game only six days after you arrived. What does that say for your abilities and what you can be in that field system? Uh I mean I mean I I can be great in this system. Um and it’s all about just being consistent. uh coming in with the right mindset every day at practice uh and you know putting it uh you know being intentional about my reps at practice and then when I get into the game just being confident in my training and what I’m coached to do. Uh and I mean it take all of us you know what I’m saying to to communicate to to to be like to be in the right places for us to to to do what we want to do. Um and you know I’m I’m just that’s I’m trying to just win man. I’m I’m in year 10. You know, this this I want to be here. This where I want to be. I’m just trying to win, bro.

Kenny Clark met with the media to share his thoughts on stopping the run, the physicality that the defense played with, the edge rushing talent in the locker room and more.

  1. Really like Clark I wish you would have came in in a different circumstance so he wouldn't hear any level of shade at all cuz he's definitely a great addition. It ain't his fault for the way the trade went down. In and of itself I'm happy to have them just wish we would have got them in a different way

  2. Finally a Dawg in the middle. It's definitely a need on every good defense. It's fun to watch a dominant defense at all levels. They need to build one

  3. I would love to sign the Gamecock
